Keeping a beady weather eye on Thurs 25th

Will it break down or won't it......

Some of the models are going for a potentially thunderstormy break down on the 25th. (don't fear hot weather lovers, if this happens the heat may well return after a few days).

There is a small chance of things happening sooner than that - on Monday, but I'm not convinced by the models suggesting that.

Will keep things updated here.

We're in South Shropshire tonight and it's been pouring since about 4pm.

Still nice and warm - about 18 degrees (c)

No thunder or lightening.

Similar here in south Herts. Also had a couple of downpours during the day, but just getting more humid and no cooler. Feels suffocating even in the house.
There was some breeze from the NE direction and in the shade it was tolerable for 30 minute slow dog walkies at 3pm. Smile. Dog was panting for ages afterwards in doorsSad

Urgh hot here again after a lovely morning, now at least 27. Slight breeze but nothing much. Bring on the storms Grin

Only managed 30 minutes pruning, now run out of steam/oxygen and back indoors. It is not the temperature but the humidity that is oppressive. I am convinced it does reduce the oxygen in the air or hinders its ability to be absorbed in the lungs.

It'll either rain or get really muggy here, not sure which yet. I'm going with muggy atm....

Sun getting stronger now, but that little bit of rain has just made it more humid, not cooler.
Must dash out and finish my pruning as green wheely bin collection tomorrow. This afternoon could be too suffocating for me to be outside .
I think the weather god is bored and playing mind games with us Grin

Also in Dorset. It was almost a relief to get a bit of rain, thunder and lightening wasnt too much really. Feels humid here already.
snorris agree with you about the bridge, seems to be not working more than it works !

Thanks OYBBK according to the itinerary they should be in Calais shortly so I am a bit behind I think. He has clothing for all eventualities. Phew.

I think he will be alright :) but might catch a small storm. The main cell in the SE has moved north, leaving clag behind. Theres a large cell to his SW which I think should miss him. It does depend on how the little cell to his west develops. Im hopeful it will be through before he gets there.

He might not have the lovely sunny day I promised though. Bloody storms - they can just pop up anywhere in these circs.

this way, this way for storm forecast discussions. I think that we need a more obvious thread title about this week, especially as there is so much potential later on today and into tomorrow.

A few imports from across the channel last night :) and I think a home grown cell too.

Estofex have issued a level 1 alert for storms.

For our storm forecasts I'm going to hand you over to some experts on UKWW It's a really complex situtation and they are way better at it than me. If you've got any questions about what they are saying don't hesitate to ask :) I'm out this morning but back at lunch time for a bit.

Another from Dorset, about 8 miles in land. Tired this morning after some impressive thunder and lightening last night.

Guess who was the idiot who for the first time put washing out on the line! It's about 17 degrees and sunny already though so it will soon dry.

Definitely had the full works over my way Grin . Maybe it came off the sea and over the harbour. Hopefully it won't have damaged the new bridge-it's out of action often enough as it is Wink .

So was it just Dorset that got the storm? Seems hot and sunny this morning . . . Will this week just carry on being hot? More storms?

Was impressive last night :-)

Blue skies here in Sussex. Looks like it's going to be the last hot day for a while
