met office warnings For tomorrow for Scotland and NW England, extending to Yorkshire. NW Scotlant in particular looks awful with blizzard conditions.

I'm not quite sure about the warnings for England, I'm going to be really interested to see how they pan out. Tuesday scattered sleet and snow showers for many.

leesmum · 16/03/2013 20:21

Hmm when you say snow for the north you mean Scotland NOT Manchester???

PigletJohn · 16/03/2013 20:41

Hmm Petersfield, surely?

digerd · 16/03/2013 21:24

Pouring with rain in the last hour, but also wind driven. Sounded like hail but can't see as dark +6 degrees.

digerd · 16/03/2013 21:26

ps.

Still no Daffs.

LillethTheCat · 17/03/2013 08:02

So its forecast snow from tomorrow morning until Wed night and then again thurs night until the foreseeable future.

C'mon Kitten tell us your worse, its not going to get nice again is it?

LillethTheCat · 17/03/2013 08:04

Although having said that, that was the BBC forecast, the met office forecast is much better, just snow Tues. Now that I can cope with.

teta · 17/03/2013 08:13

We had an inch or two of snow last night in shropshire[plus one clap of thunder].Dc's were a bit puzzled because it didn't even feel that cold outside. Its still there this morning though.

digerd · 17/03/2013 08:37

S.Herts
Pouring with rain early this morning - think it did all night.
Skies cleared and was sunny for a short while, and has clouded over again, but not raining so far. +6 minimum last night. Now +7.
I actually prefer snow flurries than downpours < no pleasing me>

digerd · 18/03/2013 06:51

S.Herts
Noticed the temp had dropped outside late evening - had been +10 .
Woke up this mornimng to -1 and freezing fog. After it has lifted - hopefully- it could be a sunny day?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/03/2013 07:34

S.Herts
Sunshine brighter now, but only +3 . No snow for us, I hope.

LillethTheCat · 18/03/2013 09:46

So it snowed a lot yesterday evening, but its rained over night and washed the snow away, yet the road 4 miles away is closed. The way R2 made it sound was that it was due to snow, but looking out my window it just looks wet. Im hoping it just stays wet now as I need to go out later.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/03/2013 13:19

It really is on a knife edge between rain and snow Lileth.

amber warnings for some tomorrow.

Horrible sideyways sleety/snow in Edinburgh.....hurt my eyeball with snow being whipped into it, with a fierce East wind........Am sure it's about a year ago my DD was playing in the paddling pool surrounded by daffodils........

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/03/2013 22:16

OYBBK, Zombie is attending a wedding in Whitby on Friday. She will be driving from South Shropshire to Whitby on Thursday. She's going to have a very nasty journey, isn't she?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/03/2013 19:32

I would aim to complete your journey by late afternoon Zombie. I think you will be ok then, but check out the road conditions for any lying snow issues over the Pennines. Friday its just possible the Bride may have some natural confetti (though it looks more like rain by the coast)

OP posts:
IamtheZombie · 19/03/2013 19:36

Thanks, OYBBK. She plans to leave home at 0900 which should get her to Whitby 1500 - 1600. She will take it very cautiously.

InMySpareTime · 19/03/2013 19:54

Kitten, I have a question:
This morning it snowed very lightly in Manchester. But throughout the snow, the sky remained blue with a couple of wispy clouds high up.
Where did the snow come from?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/03/2013 20:38

Snow can take a long time to reach the ground, so my guess is that the clouds producing it had moved on leaving the snow to slowly drift down.

Sometimes when it's is very cold snow like crystals can appear to fall out of a clear sky as crystals from from the residual humidity, and sometimes it can form in power station steam, but I suspect it's my first suggestion.

Hopefully you will have a safe journey Zombie :)

Leicester calling in and we're having a major snow shower atm ~ big, big flakes and settling a bit! Temps have dropped from 2.1C about 30 mins ago to 1.7c. I'm a bit Shock at it all as it wasn't forecast!
