We've got a good thaw going on here (Leicester) as we've got to the mighty temperature heights of 1.8C. There's still 11cm of snow on our patio table though!

This band of rain/snow seems to be moving across the country quite quickly with lots of snow reports coming in here.

Tortoise · 25/01/2013 13:04

Flurry of snow in Somerset! Was not expecting that today!

Tortoise · 25/01/2013 13:31

Getting heavier but BBC weather says rain!

mumat39 · 25/01/2013 13:47

Carole, just watched the London news and weather on the bbc, and it looks like we have rain coming in later today, and lots of snow all around but nothing for this area. Fingers crossed it stays that way. I don't like the London news weather but that together with what kitten said earlier today, it could well be alright on the night.

Xxx

pigsinmud · 25/01/2013 13:51

Digerd - I'm in mid surrey. Now reading 1.9.

digerd · 25/01/2013 14:02

Mine says +2.5, it's on my front wall at side of house door. We are in the Thames Vally area. Can't wait for the stubborn icy snow to melt into our clay soil in the garden < grass area>

mumat39 · 25/01/2013 16:17

Justified up my dc from school and nursery. It is bitterly cold out there. I can't imagine it getting up to 10 by Sunday. The weather is very curious sometimes. Probably what makes it fascinating [bsmile]

mumat39 · 25/01/2013 16:18

Justified = just picked [bhh]

I like these burns night smilies Grin

Hi OYBBK

Hope you've had a good day.

Has that amber area grown?

MirandaWest · 25/01/2013 16:48

Cold in York with a bitter wind. There were a few snowflakes earlier on but not very many Grin. Met office still suggests something later....

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/01/2013 17:00

It has a little Mumat, more of the midlands look likely to be affected and also up into north east Scotland.
Miranda - just you wait Wink

those of us south of london, pretty unlikely to see much in the way of snow - mostly rain with maybe a bit of sleet or snow thrown in I think. For once im not jealous - it would be a pain with the rapid thaw afterwards!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/01/2013 17:08

some really heavy snow showing for northern England and the Midlands tonight.
looking at things really closely, i wonder if Kent is going to end up with some snow for a time out of this after all. possibly.....

I is snowing heavily here in West Manchester now and has been doing so since about 4.30pm. It seems to be starting to settle.

Whats the betting it will turn to sleet and there'll be none left by tomorrow?!

catweasle · 25/01/2013 17:16

Snowing heavily here in Dunfermline and has been for the last few hours.

StillSlightlyCrumpled · 25/01/2013 17:31

Sad Oh dear. Trying to decide whether to cancel party tomorrow night or not. I think where people are travelling from will be ok, it's just here I'm really worried about (south Leicestershire). Just have to wait & see if roads start to clear by lunchtime I guess. Oh well, not the end of the world. Just disappointing.

Thanks to kitten for all of the updates.

MooseyMoo · 25/01/2013 17:39

Light snow started at 4ish in W Oxford. Thanks to Kitten for starting this thread and all the updates. Much appreciated Thanks

digerd · 25/01/2013 17:46

I have suddenly felt colder in my sitting room at the same air temperature, so put it up 1 degree. It is now 0 outside and was relying on it being +12 tomorrow as forecast. Have they got it wrong?
SE

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/01/2013 18:03

Digerd, who forecast that? More like 6-8c I'd have thought, maybe pushing 10c on Sunday.

eminemmerdale · 25/01/2013 18:06

blimey looks like we're going to be affected again (E Anglia

leesmum · 25/01/2013 18:49

North Manchester has a good inch and It's still coming down, hope its still here in the morning!!

MirandaWest · 25/01/2013 19:18

It snowed a bit near York.

It stopped :(

WhispersOfWickedness · 25/01/2013 19:20

Thank you so much for all the updates OYBBK, it has been so helpful Grin
Snow is still to reach us here today, we've still got a couple of inches lying from Sunday night. Am so looking forward to double temps here next week, it will feel so warm after this Grin

educatingarti · 25/01/2013 19:22

Think it might have stopped here for now Sad

MirandaWest · 25/01/2013 19:25

Just looked at the Met Office maps. York seems to be in a gap from the snow for a couple of hours but then it will heat up (cool down) overnight with maybe a lot.

There's a Residents festival here over the weekend - there'd better not be too much snow Grin
