Digerd, don't lose hope. Just tomorrow and half of Saturday to get through.

What will we do after the thaw without our daily updates from you OYBBK? Do you have other specialities? Sports, politics and such like? In my mind you're all knowing!

mankyscotslass · 24/01/2013 20:47

I think it will be a fine line between snow and rain for me tomorrow -I am visiting an ill relative in hospital in Paisley at the moment, and staying on the banks of the Clyde while here. Maybe I should nc to Scotsmankylass for the duration. Grin

digerd · 24/01/2013 20:52

Thank you KITTEN
At least our < stingy> council has salted the pavements by the main road, and were clear of ice and snow for the first time today. Made it so much less arduous and nerve-wracking walking to the shops for necessities.

CaroleService · 24/01/2013 21:32

I don't mind people not going home, OYBK. The party can carry on forever, so long as it gets started ...

WhispersOfWickedness · 24/01/2013 21:37

Our grit bins are empty Sad When questioned about it, the council said that other places are higher priority, they will get to us when they have sorted out other places Hmm

mumat39 · 24/01/2013 21:57

Carole, whatever the weather, I hope your party does get started and that you have a fantabulous 50th celebration.

CaroleService · 24/01/2013 22:22

Thank you! I will crawl back onto the thread to let you know ... It is a very late birthday party (actual birthday was just before Xmas) but I have been looking forward to it.

mumat39 · 24/01/2013 22:32

I'm just up the road from kingston and was wishing for more snow until I saw your post. I'm willing it away now. Have fun!

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 25/01/2013 06:56

Thanks OYBBK Smile

Have a great party Carole and drink lots of Wine

digerd · 25/01/2013 07:18

South Herts
I was right. -4 last night @ 03.31. Now -2.

digerd · 25/01/2013 07:22

Still dark, but assume it clouded over, so might get more snow. What a nasty thing to do - clear sky at night and cloudy during the day < angry face>.
Temp outside rising.

digerd · 25/01/2013 07:33

PS
At least we don't get a 20c drop in the night as we did in Germany. And it had been raining all day at +10 < unusually mild that day>. We woke up to brilliant sunshine all day, no snow, but trees branches encased in inches of ice all in weird shapes all glistening in the sun and deep blue sky. Grass was iced up and it never melted. That was awesome. It was -15

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/01/2013 07:43

Carole, I feel fairly confident that you won't have too many issues tonight. Have a wonderful party :)

Digerd, that sounds absolutely stunning!

MrsFlowerpot, unless we have a volcanic eruption in Iceland (and im even more amateur at that!) that's me tapped out until any storms come along. (Tuesday looks quite blowy!) Grin

What a messy mix today! I think what I said last night pretty much holds true so I won't rehash it. I'm working all day today, but reports of whether it is snowing or raining in your area would be really helpful for those downstream of the weather.

Woken to white stuff tumbling from the sky, in Renfrewshire. Lying very quickly.

After all my begging for snow in Manchester, now I want it to go away, as I need to get to the hospital to visit an ill relative!

InMySpareTime · 25/01/2013 07:55

Manky, if it's any consolation, the snow shield is still working in Manchester, the only snow is the mountain the DCs gathered by scooping it off the entire street onto our driveway. Might get a brief whiteout here later though (crosses fingers hopefully)

PeneloPeePitstop · 25/01/2013 08:00

We're missing out on snow Hmm

Dawndonna · 25/01/2013 08:24

-7 when I did the school run half an hour ago. Norfolk/Suffolk borders are very cold this morning!

pigsinmud · 25/01/2013 08:35

Oh joy - a week of rain and wind. My new thermometer recorded the lowest temperature overnight as -0.1. Wow - heavy sarcasm there. I wanted to get a nice cold temperature before the horrid mild comes back. I love the cold.

MySweetPrince · 25/01/2013 10:17

We have very very light powdery snow falling in Mid Kent at the moment, not amounting to much.

pigsinmud · 25/01/2013 11:42

Met office forecast for me tonight is
9pm heavy rain
Midnight heavy snow
3am sleet
6am light snow
Confused

Megmog2005 · 25/01/2013 12:01

Snowing here, earlier than forecast. Newcastle upon Tyne.

TheSilveryTinsellyPussycat · 25/01/2013 12:21

And here in Co Durham too, has been snowing for at least the last hour.

NigellasGuest · 25/01/2013 12:33

could anybody tell me whether heavy snow if forecast for West Herts, Hemel area, today? I've been trying to decipher the forecasts - sometimes we catch weather from south midlands and sometimes not.

digerd · 25/01/2013 12:51

SCHILKE
Where are you?
I had -4 at 03.31, SE. Now +2.4 with 80% humidity. No more snow and skies look like thin layers of cloud. Tomorrow supposed to be up to +12. Sill icy sludge on out small cul-de -sac road and all the gardens grass still full of snow. We have clay soil and perhaps takes longer to defrost than sandy soil.
