What do you reckon for London, OYBBK? Netweather keeps changing its mind, but looks like definitely snow, but pretty light?

Kitten

Are we likely to have any significant snow in West Sussex this weekend? (by gatwick airport)

DH is really panicking about his first day at his new job on Monday. The snow can really bugger up the trains! If its gonna be bad he will contact his new boss for some stuff he can work from home on in case he cant get in.

Personally i'd love super deep snow! :)

what a nightmare bauble.

mooncup. yes to snow in London on friday, and persistent at that possibly right through saturday if current models are correct.

Kitten, sorry to add to your list of requests, but how is Surrey looking?

We were bitterly disappointed on Monday with the teeny bit we woke up to, then got all excited when big flakes began to fall around 11 am only to have our hopes crushed when by noon the rain set in Sad

Will it look whiter on Friday?

Thanks Kitten

DD's exam is first thing in the morning, so should be able to get there OK if we only have light snow at that stage. Doesn't matter so much about how long it takes to get home in the afternoon. Am hoping they'll get sent home early before the blizzards set in Grin

pigley, yes you are I'm afraid. I'm not sure about Sunday night yet, it might be quite a messy mix of rain and snow. the timing is slower on the latest gfs so that weather front may not arrive til monday morning. One to watch.

behind - yes, unless something has gone terrible wrong with the forecasts then surrey does look to be in a much better position on friday. Sometime before noon I expect for the start.

OYBBK do you know if we are likely to get loads of snow on friday in west kent (Dartford/Gravesend/Bluewater). So far we've only had light dustings. I have to take DD2 for a hospital appointment and DH is racing.

friday's forecasts are so easy. Apart from for the far south west and southern coastal areas I can just say 'Yes' to snow! Grin

What's a 'significant accumulation' I wonder?

OYBBK

I've been waiting for someone else to ask about Somerset but they haven't so here goes - any chance I'll get a snow day with my puppy?

Hello BadKitten. Just wanted to say thank you for the Derbyshire Dales forecast you did last week, it was spot on Smile

Any thoughts on what to expect for us from Friday onwards? I can book a provisional day of annual leave if its likely to be bad. Our lane is hilly, single track, stone walls and very bendy so wont be going anywhere if its too awful. Thank you again

micku, certainly I think you'll get a good covering. I hope it goes ok for you. Morning is best time to try and get things done so I hope the timings are ok.

Love this thread Grin

Particularly love the faint suggestion of naked weather forecasting by OYBBK near the beginning of the thread Wink

I have to go soon for a meeting that will last poxy hours so apologies if I dont get round to everyone's questions.

INPP. Its a little bit close to marginal for you. not in amounts but in temps. Your chances are better if you live in the bit of somerset where the coast turns up north east.

follyfoot - snow looks like it will move into yours in the early hours and persist into saturday.

OYBBK
The met office for Nottingham hasnt varied from light snow. And now it seems patchy? On and off Fri/Sat/Sun? What do you think might actually fall?!
(no pitchforks, promise Smile)

Thank you. Her appointment is mid morning so fingers crossed we are ok.

Its getting home that will be a problem, we have a very steep hill and last year cars were slipping backwards Shock and with single car country lanes as our alternative routes home it wont make for pleasant driving

Report
OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/01/2013 18:35

Trendy - its mainly light but persistent. However the potential is there for more substantial snowfall for a time on Saturday afternoon. I think the amber warning area may extend further east from its present position.

So the chances of us driving from Newport to Sollihull on Saturday morning are pretty remote yes? Confused
