Me at = jenat.

Lifeisontheup · 16/01/2013 16:37

Oh well better get the thermals out, last year when it snowed our ambulance broke down and we sat for three hours by the side of the road with no heating. Would prefer not to have a repeat of that.
I will put a thermos in my bag, pity I can't take a hip flask.Grin

SilverAndSparklyKat · 16/01/2013 16:39

Snowy Birmingham. Marvellous! Enough to cause traffic chaos and sledging opportunities do you think?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/01/2013 16:44

sparklykat. I think so.

(quick reminder to everyone I'm an amateur - please don't come after me with pitchforks if it all goes pear shaped!)

Any idea for Milton Keynes OYBBK? Never know quite which region we fall into...not really East Anglia, nor South East, nor Midlands Confused

SilverAndSparklyKat · 16/01/2013 16:52

Pitchforks? Not likely- we all just appreciate being able to badger you for personalised weather, it's much better than the met office!

Sparklingbrook · 16/01/2013 16:53

FGS now the snow is heavy all day on Friday. it keeps changing. Angry

mankyscotslass · 16/01/2013 16:58

I am trying not to get excited!

HeadfirstForHalos · 16/01/2013 16:59

I have to get dc4 to the hospital for 9am Friday, I hope it stays off until we get back home Grin. The dc are so excited about more snow after the let down when it rained away all snow on Monday. North Staffordshire/West Midlands here.

rosieposey · 16/01/2013 17:03

Thanks OYBBK :) Getting really excited here!

Helenagrace · 16/01/2013 17:05

I suppose there's minimal chance of a "pack DH off sledging and settle down with a blanket and a book snow day" for the weekend on the West Sussex coast?

Tortoise · 16/01/2013 17:06

I'm not getting the ski trousers out of the lift until it actually snows! Grin. It's looking hopeful.Grin

DamnDeDoubtance · 16/01/2013 17:13

Our snow melted away but it was awful perty while it lasted. There was just enough to crunch underfoot.

MaureenMLove · 16/01/2013 17:13

Just marking my place, nothing to say really, other than your updates have kept everyone going at school today, with the prospect of an early close on Friday and dreams of a snow day on Monday! Grin

Thanks, as always Kitten. I promise I won't come after you with a pitchfork this time. Although I do know roughly where you live. Shouldn't be to difficult to spot the crazy woman, gazing up at the sky and praying her predictions come through! WinkGrin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/01/2013 17:16

heffalump, I tend to think of it as southern East midlands Grin should be coming in your way sometime around lunch time I think and lasting through Saturday.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 16/01/2013 17:17

Does anyone love near Bristol airport who could keep me updated on things on Friday evening?

We're due to fly at 10.30am on Saturday morning and have to travel from South Wales because Cardiff airport is crap!.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/01/2013 17:19

Mo - just been trying to figure out what will happen to dd if school closes early. Secondaries tend to faster than primary don't they cos of all the kids on buses and making their own way home?

I'm so torn!! I want masses of snow, but i've got a big evening Saturday and dd is desperate not to miss something on Saturday morning that is really important to her.

Heffalumpa · 16/01/2013 17:23

Glad it's not just me being thick then! Thanks OYBBK.

Although was expecting you to say we probably won't get any, so now I'm a bit excitable!

GossipWitch · 16/01/2013 17:40

oh dear east mids does not look good this weekend, well it'll look very pretty and the kids will be excited but no driving for me !!

MaureenMLove · 16/01/2013 17:43

Well, our school still needs to have written permission to send kids home. We have a page in our planners for parents to sign for 'extreme situation early closures.'

This was only added two years ago, after a lot of staff spent hours having to contact parents to check it was OK! It was chaos, but all the other schools in the borough had closed and our kids were getting text messages from other school kids! Grin

I've spent all week, checking planners at the end of lessons, to make sure they've got them signed! I'll be out the door with them this week, if I have to! The only people that suffered two years ago, were the teachers, because with every phone call they were making, the snow was getting thicker and more difficult to get home!

(thought I might not sign DDs planner. I 'm gonna wave from my car, on the way out! Grin)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 16/01/2013 17:45

That's brilliant! Grin

Please Kitten no more snow for Norfolk! 4 hours to do 20 miles yest, couldn't get to school where I teach (one of the few open today!) and quite tired of snow now! Complete scaredy cat about driving in it, think I'll take the train tomorrow! Bauble cat agrees with me, she slipped in it today!
