It arrived finally at about 8.20 this morning. Started as very fine snow that started to settle quickly. Been snowing since but for the last couple of hours it's been fatter flakes.

Does anyone know what's happening this evening? It was supposed to snow into the evening, but the weather reports say it's starting to lose it's strength! I was hoping for enough to go sledging!

Kitten, hope your dd gets to and from school ok, and that if it's bad where you are you can come home early.

BionicEmu, good luck with you journey to the hospital tomorrow, and hope your dh gets back ok.

BIWI, glad our DS made it to college. I can't believe there were no trains at Wimbledon. It must have started earlier over there. My sister got into work in London on the train with no problems this morning. I hope your DS gets back ok and that his exam went well.

Take care everyone!

imogen I know!

I just bitched about the sun (that's a first)!

DamnDeDoubtance · 18/01/2013 14:19

Has it reached any parts of Kent yet. I`m right on the eastern tip and I am getting worried it will all run out. So desperate for some proper snow.

Hope everyone who has it is enjoying it and staying safe and warm. Smile

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2013 14:21

No snow in York

DamnDeDoubtance · 18/01/2013 14:24

Sounds amazing. Envy

TheSkiingGardener · 18/01/2013 14:24

Yay! Wouldn't be fair if you didn't get maximum time to enjoy it OYBBK!

fatsatsuma · 18/01/2013 14:26

Hello OYBBK. Glad you got home early!

We've had a huge dump of snow here in N Oxon, schools closed, roads all gridlocked, general chaos. Now I've got my DCs home I'm happy Grin

notheroldie · 18/01/2013 14:27

none in my garden (Devon) its RUBBISH

TobyLerone · 18/01/2013 14:29

The snow here is super lame. Like 0.5/10. It's laying, but it's falling so slowly that it's barely worth it.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2013 14:30

Those of you in London, theres lots more to come on the radar!

Manchester people, it just teases around your area - sorry. I think you will get some this afternoon/evening, but not a whole load.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2013 14:32

Toby - I forget roughly where you are?
notheroldie, sadly that was always the possibility for parts of Devon.

I'm glad to have dd home, it took her quite a long time but she made it :)

How thrilling OYBBK! My colleague has just measured and we have nearly an inch already on the office windowsill Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2013 14:33

Miranda as I said earlier, its going to take its time to get to you, but it should do this evening.

TobyLerone · 18/01/2013 14:33

Kent. Pretty much right in the middle.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2013 14:33

DamnDeDoubtance · 18/01/2013 14:35

Oh Toby, thats pants. What are the chances for Kent OYBBK. Is there hope?

millie0210 · 18/01/2013 14:36

Freezing cold with deep snow in Berkshire.
I`m staying indoors

CharlieSilver · 18/01/2013 14:38

South East and we've had heavy snow all day, it's not stopping. Just topped up our electric meter and the damn key is broken so DP has to walk ages in the snow to get another key, come home put it in the machine then go back out to top it up again. Of ALL the days it could happen...

TobyLerone · 18/01/2013 14:41

It's totally stopped here now. I'm supposed to be driving to Herne Bay this evening. If it's going to start hammering down I'd rather it do it now than later when I'm stranded at MIL's...

PoppyAmex · 18/01/2013 14:42

OYBBK please tell me we'll get some in Central Scotland!

I moved back from Oz two years ago and all I had was MILD winters. Argh

Starshaped · 18/01/2013 14:42

It always seems to skirt round us in Manchester OYBBK!. There are a few teeny tiny flakes in the air at the moment but not enough to make it look pretty.

Glad you got released from work early though...and sorry for all our northwestern moaning Grin

MirandaWest · 18/01/2013 14:42

This evening will be good :) Maybe I can wake up to a snowy world :)

tak1ngchances · 18/01/2013 14:43

Every branch big with it,
Bent every twig with it;
Every fork like a white web-foot;
Every street and pavement mute:
Some flakes have lost their way, and grope back upward when
Meeting those meandering down they turn and descend again.
The palings are glued together like a wall,
And there is no waft of wind with the fleecy fall.
A sparrow enters the tree,
Whereon immediately
A snow-lump thrice his own slight size
Descends on him and showers his head and eye
And overturns him,
And near inurns him,
And lights on a nether twig, when its brush
Starts off a volley of other lodging lumps with a rush.
The steps are a blanched slope,
Up which, with feeble hope,
A black cat comes, wide-eyed and thin;
And we take him in.

Thomas Hardy, 1840-1928
