LunarSea · 18/01/2013 11:06

Building up nicely in Warwickshire. Several local schools starting to announce closing at lunchtime.

PeneloPeePitstop · 18/01/2013 11:14

Arcady will the north of West Sussex get any of that which is yet to hit London?

Kahlua4me · 18/01/2013 11:16

Thanks for that, oybbk gave me hope for us and cheered the dc up as they were sad this am.
Anyway we now have loads, hooray, and schools closing at lunchtime! Cannot wait as get all pm to play in the snow. Have sledges at the ready!

MadBusLady · 18/01/2013 11:17

Worst of the snow has yet to hit London

What do you mean? There's at least half an inch out there! FLEE! SAVE YOURSELVES!

DamnDeDoubtance · 18/01/2013 11:22
Grin
crikeybill · 18/01/2013 11:24

Oh Arkadyrose I really hope so Grin

Looking out my office window we just have swirly, tiny, flakes. Its settling on the roof tops, we I say settling its about 2 cm Sad
But the roads and pavements are just wet.

Huffs.........

BigStickBIWI · 18/01/2013 11:24

I had to drive DS2 to college this morning, as there were no trains running out of Wimbledon.

He's done his exam now, thankfully, but college (Esher) aren't making a decision about earlier closing until 12.30.

Snow is light here, but persistent. TBH at this rate I'm more worried about the temperature - currently minus 2 - and ice forming on the roads.

Megmog2005 · 18/01/2013 11:27

Bugger !!!!! Snow stopped and the sun is out now. Is is possible to sue the Met Office?

educatingarti · 18/01/2013 11:28

Has been snowing here (Manchester) for a couple of hours now Grin but isn't sticking particularly well. Roads and pavements wet rather than snowy mostly - however, Met office gives us a temperature drop to -1C at noon so may stick more this afternoon.
% chance of precipitation this afternoon is increasing Grin

TobyLerone · 18/01/2013 11:29

Nothing at all here yet :(

crikeybill · 18/01/2013 11:32

Where are you Megmog ?????

I have a horrid feeling ours will stop soon in S.London Sad

TeWiSavesTheDay · 18/01/2013 11:33

Those of us with snow - rulers out at 12.30?

Megmog2005 · 18/01/2013 11:36

Crikey I am in Newcastle upon Tyne, it's all starting to cloud over now though and getting a little bit dark, I love it, more exciting than anything ever. Bring me lots and lots of snow, got 3 days off work and nowhere to go. Here's to a snowy weekend.

MirandaWest · 18/01/2013 11:37

Still nothing in York. Probably wont stop people continuing to buy all the food in the supermarkets though....

lubeybooby · 18/01/2013 11:39

Bah. Back to tiny flakes here. Got about 3cm altogether. Can see on the radar heavier falls just petering out about ten miles away before reaching here.

It's like a hotdog stall that turns out to only sell the buns :( or something.

Grumpy now.

MySweetPrince · 18/01/2013 11:42

Heart of Kent here and nothing yet..............daughter at University in London has reported snow there tho so ever hopeful it is heading down.

digerd · 18/01/2013 11:42

It began to snow here S Herts, between 9.15 and 9,45, but like pollen not snowflakes.
When we emerged from the dance hall early at 11am, it had stopped and the sky is lighter. But is a very wet snow which will freeze in the night.
Still -1 outside my house so wet snow will not melt.

Skang · 18/01/2013 11:47

Tiny wispy bits of snow here near Colchester. It's not enough, damnit! I want a snow weekend with my DH and DD and dont want my MIL to be able to visit!

Megmog2005 · 18/01/2013 11:49

Ha Ha Skang, that's just too funny, my fingers are crossed for you that you get MIL repellent snow.

Huge flakes and blizzrady here now.

BionicEmu · 18/01/2013 11:53

We've had nowt of note here in north-east Derbyshire - snow from Monday still lying, snowed yesterday evening, but just a few icy flurries here today.

However, DH is at work actually in Derby & says it has been chucking it down with snow for a couple of hours now! Normally it's the other way round - we get 6+ inches of snow while Derby just get a dusting.

MySweetPrince · 18/01/2013 11:54

MIL repellant snow! Have a mental image now of the Giles cartoon Granny battling through blizzard conditions to stand grumpily at your door.

DizzyHoneyBee · 18/01/2013 11:57

4 inches here now, been snowing since 6pm last night.

SueFawley · 18/01/2013 11:58

Cheshire. Seems to be stopping now. It snowed last night leaving a dusting. It's been snowing non stop for a few hours this morning but it's not heavy snow, just little snowflakes swirling around. The sky's now much lighter and I think it's going to stop. I can't get back with my ruler at 12.30 because I'm supposed to be working Grin so I've just had quick look outside and reckon it's no deeper than 1.5cm. This time yesterday we were told to expect at least 10cm.
Bit of a damp squib all round for us here.

ExitPursuedByABear · 18/01/2013 11:59

Saddleworth here, and not doing much at all.

I think this Weather Event is going to turn out to be a None Event.
