Haven't got precise snow measuring equipment, but the snow is over the rubber sole bit of my slippers if that helps anyone. Brrrrr.

pigleychez · 18/01/2013 12:06

West Sussex here and currently 3cm. Coming down thick and fast.

Must be bad as DD's school closed at 10.30 and this is the school that NEVER closes!!

Anyone in London? Whats it like there? DH works in central London but wondering about him coming home earlier as normally the trains go to pot with a bit of snow!

travellingwilbury · 18/01/2013 12:11

7 cm in west sussex .

It has only been snowing since 8 am , I had to abandon my car this morning which is a first .

MGMidget · 18/01/2013 12:11

Snow here in South/SW London. Coming down fast and settling. It's been snowing since about 8 this morning and for the last couple of hours its been quite heavy snow.

Starshaped · 18/01/2013 12:15

Very light snow in Manchester earlier today but now nothing. We've barely got a dusting. A complete waste of time!

LapsedPacifist · 18/01/2013 12:15

5 inches in Bath and still snowing. Motorway was closed between Bath & Bristol, not sure if it's re-opened yet. Everything is shut down, University for me, school for DS, no buses etc. No traffic.

Sat here at computer in woolly tights, socks, furry bootees, leggings, long-sleeve T-shirt, long dress worn over them all and DH's huge hoody on top. And fingerless gloves and matching woolly hat. Have portable oiled-filled radiator on next to desk and central heating has been on 24/7 for 3 days.

Thermometer on my desk was 6 degrees Centrigrade first thing this morning, now 8 degrees.

lubeybooby · 18/01/2013 12:15

flakes even tinier now

I'm giving up now. Met office have changed our forecast again. I don't think it's going to happen at all.

GloriaSnow · 18/01/2013 12:23

For a fall of snow with such tiny flakes, it sure has given us a decent covering ~ about 1.5cm so far here in Leicester. Think the forecast is for the band of snow to break up a bit as it moves eastwards across the country.

There's talk over on met-monkey (weather messageboard) of the possibility of snow for the SE and East Anglia, overnight Sunday into Monday. 'Tis mentioned here on Netweather so might be one to watch for those areas.

Pan · 18/01/2013 12:23

The Met Office are a bunch of lying toe-rags.

LillethTheCat · 18/01/2013 12:25

Well there's no snow in North Yorks/Co Durham border ATM. There was a bit last night, but nothing exciting. Just checked the weather sites (BBC, netweather and Metcheck) and all 3 suggest snow this evening turning heavy tonight and through to tomorrow.

I hope either I can get DD1 to a birthday party tomorrow easily or its cancelled. I will try to get there, but Id be lying if I said I would be happy driving in heavy snow to get there.

Hope everyone is coping where its really bad.

MaureenMLove · 18/01/2013 12:25

Very miserable here. I'm going to have to stay to the bitter end of school, aren't I? My emergency bag of clothes is going to have to come back into the house and I'm going to be miserable all weekend.

The view from my window, looked like a cloud of tiny bugs flying around. It just ain't gonna cut it and I fear the snow is already a distant memory.

Tres sad day in one London Borough today. Sad

NotAQueef · 18/01/2013 12:26

We had a 5 minute swirl of dandruff earlier and nothing since in Colchester!
Hurry up snow I want to leave work and make a snowman with DS

I bet we get nothing Sad

boschy · 18/01/2013 12:28

south Kent Coast - nothing, nada, but vvvvv cold and bitter wind. DDs are meant to be going dry slope skiiing after school today - dry slope will be closed if it snows... so they dont want snow, but I want snow so we can hunker down all weekend!

DreamsTurnToGoldDust · 18/01/2013 12:29

Pigley, not in Central London but SE London, snowing heavily here, but have not heard from DH and DD who are both in Central London, so I have to presume that they are either A, fine and all transport moving well or B, stood to long waiting at the traffic lights and our now buried in snow Grin

Dededum · 18/01/2013 12:29

Guildford 4/5 inches and still coming down. Kids at home, hubby at home.

ArkadyRose · 18/01/2013 12:30

Coming down thick and fast in E17 right now. The bird bath is full of snow, and there was a confused pigeon sitting in it a moment ago giving me evil looks through the kitchen window as though it thought somehow I was responsible. About 1-2" in the back garden at present, and our street is a quiet dead-end so it's lying fairly thick on the road.

MaureenMLove · 18/01/2013 12:32

Snowing heavily in SE London? No tin my South London! Maybe I'm South East London?

TeWiSavesTheDay · 18/01/2013 12:32

7cm in south northants!

TobyLerone · 18/01/2013 12:34

I've lost all hope now :(

snowflakehellokitty · 18/01/2013 12:40

Getting deep here and still snowing

BooCanary · 18/01/2013 12:41

After a brief respite where the snow almost stopped, it is falling heavily again and we are topping 6 inches now I think (S Wales). Almost too thick for decent sledging!

MySweetPrince · 18/01/2013 12:43

Toby - are you in Kent too? It's got very grey here and the downs have become invisible but I think it's just a heavy grey mist Sad

snowflakehellokitty · 18/01/2013 12:47

7cms here 4 inches in garden outside patio more other places

MooncupGoddess · 18/01/2013 12:49

Central London has a cm or two - enough to make a nice crunching sound underfoot and a trail of footprints. Still snowing lightly and from the forecasts sounds like it should go on for a while. Anyone who has a long commute home would be advised to head off early just in case.
