Gahhhh still no snow here sw leics after very fine snow all night... been stopped a few hours now. Snow radar is lying to me. I am heartened to hear that it's starting back up over Birmingham way though that means it's on it's way here... sky very very ominous. COME ON! :o

digerd · 18/01/2013 08:50

PS
Temperature outside has dropped 1 degree since 7am, but is quite windy - that's unusual? Blizzards to come?

SpottyTeacakes · 18/01/2013 08:50

Badger where are you? Been snowing for two hours where I am in Sussex!

musicposy · 18/01/2013 08:56

Snowing hard here north of Chichester, my mum next door has a big snowdrift against her back door! it's definitely blowing in one direction as our back door facing the other way is clear.

Have decided not to go to London for Globe theatre visit as I don't want to be finding accomodation there -we have dogs here to worry about. Very disappointed.

But DDs are quite happy! DD1's college in Waterlooville is closed. We're near a big hill so they have visions of sledging later on.

MrsHerculePoirot · 18/01/2013 08:56

Blimey it is just laying on the ground and piling up really quickly - it only started a short while ago and everything is covered already. If it keeps going at this rate there will be much more than they said there would be...

sailorsgal · 18/01/2013 08:57

Very good covering here in South Dorset. Ds's school is open, the only one that will be. We are not going though as it is like a blizzard outside and it would take be about 45 mins to walk.

StarlightMcKenzie · 18/01/2013 08:58

Only started half an hour ago in SW London but complete covering.

MirandaWest · 18/01/2013 09:00

Nothing in York. Pretty sure there won't be anything either.

snowflakehellokitty · 18/01/2013 09:06

1 inch of snow here and heavy snow falling Grin kids over excited

Raahh · 18/01/2013 09:08

I must be the only person in Manchester who doesn't want snow,Grin and here near the airport we have had some. Not huge amounts, but my car was covered by early morning, and it keeps trying to snow again. Weirdly, only a few hundred yards up the road, near the dcs school, there was hardly any at allConfused.

Megmog2005 · 18/01/2013 09:08

Boo hoo nothing here at all just the old snow from earlier in the week. It's got a lot warmer, no frost or ice on the cars this morning. I feel cheated.

In Newcastle btw

digerd · 18/01/2013 09:09

Not yet snowing. About to disappear into bathroom to get ready for dancing from 10-12. If not snowing when cab turns up, it may be at 12 when we emerge from the hall.
Weather forecast is blowy for most parts - so not looking forward to walking the dog, perhaps in a blizzard later.

3birthdaybunnies · 18/01/2013 09:09

V fine snow in W Kent,dd1 was counting flakes. V cold though so think will settle.

utahforever · 18/01/2013 09:11

Lots of snow near Stonehenge - it is sooooooo pretty Smile and still going....

BooCanary · 18/01/2013 09:11

Here in 'red warning area' land, we have about 5-6 inches already!!

BooCanary · 18/01/2013 09:13

DCs are torn between extreme excitement and guttedness that the snow has stopped the sky box working!!

musicposy · 18/01/2013 09:14

Raah I didn't want snow either as we've paid for a trip I was looking forward to and am now missing. Sad

Weekend would have been OK and Monday would have been great as I could have missed teachng in school!

So I wanted it, but not today! I guess you can't please everyone Grin

lubeybooby · 18/01/2013 09:15

Woohoo, wind is up a bit and tiny flakes at last...

Helenagrace · 18/01/2013 09:15

Snowing in coastal West Sussex!! DC's school said they were open but may close early if snow continues. We've declared our own snow day as cars are sliding along our road already and I'm not going out in this twice. As if to confirm my decision contractors working for BT have just dug up the path outside my house and their vehicles are now blocking me in. Huzzah!

DH working from home but trying to persuade his boss to let others do the same as they travel from all over the SE and may struggle to get back tonight. Boss is of the "I made it in through waist deep snowdrifts in shorts so everyone else should" mould.

educatingarti · 18/01/2013 09:18

Does anyone know how often met office forecasts are updated?

Whojamaflip · 18/01/2013 09:19

yay snow day! about 2 inches on the floor and has been snowing hard for the last hour with no signs of stopping Grin

plans made to go sledging after lunch with the rest of the kids from the village then back here for hot chocolate.

ColouringInQueen · 18/01/2013 09:22

Snowing in Chesham! Dragged us all out of bed to school - and back home again....

MadBusLady · 18/01/2013 09:24

Ooh, powdery snow now! (N London)

BrainSurgeon · 18/01/2013 09:25

Snowing furiously in the Heatrow area. I'm outta here, DS school called to say they are closing at mid-day!

I can see another massive air travel disruption coming up..... but who cares, we'll be making a snowman later (hopefully!)

Vagndidit · 18/01/2013 09:26

Over 300 schools closed here in Norfolk today. Getting a bit silly now, tbh.
