poorbuthappy, it took a bit of time for the cold air to be drawn into the system. I'm very releived that its getting going properly!

oybbk can I ask when/if to expect snow in north Essex and bottom end of Suffolk? All we have is the cm or so that fell earlier in the week!

TwllBach · 18/01/2013 06:51

Absolutely nothing
I can hope that they have it further inland I suppose

mankyscotslass · 18/01/2013 06:52

Only a light dusting here overnight, and all local forecasts now have the snow later today more or less missing us out! Sad

TwllBach · 18/01/2013 06:53

Y phone says it should be snowing right bloody now!
Lies, all lies

(I don't really mind, I've got loads to do in work and just had a lovely idea for a lesson I'm itching to teach, but it's the principle of the thing Grin)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2013 06:58

twllbach, i am hopeful for you.

milkybrew, early afternoon.

manky, how is it doing that?? it goes to the south of you and then to the east and north of you! dont give up yet though, both GFS and UKMO show you getting some.

Still rain here, although they have snow less than a mile away. That's what you get for living right by the sea. I blame that pesky Isle of Wight personally.

At least DH is now working from home. I get an extra half an hour in bed when he does that!

TwllBach · 18/01/2013 07:00

It's just started raining - at least it sounds like rain. I suppose it could be very heavy snowflakes Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2013 07:05

TSG - how unfair! I see that southampton airport reported a temp of -1C at 6:50 so be careful in case it is freezing rain. Perhaps your upper temps are still a bit warm. Nevertheless, the temp is still expected to drop a couple of degrees today so dont lose faith yet.

We have snow!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) :) :)

mankyscotslass · 18/01/2013 07:08

OYBBK Smile

I can't believe it - the kids in school are going to be so disappointed!

But that's Manchester for you!

Hope you all enjoy the snow.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 18/01/2013 07:11

We have snow in East Dorset, still coming down. Feel really sorry for those who have their GCSE exam today, DD's school saying they really need to try to get in.

SuzySheepSmellsNice · 18/01/2013 07:12

Reasons for excitement:

  1. it hardly ever snows here (damn you Purbecks!)

  2. it was my birthday yesterday and I spent half of it at a close friend's funeral

  3. DS has never seen snow

  4. IT HAS SNOWED!!! :) :) :) :)

musicposy · 18/01/2013 07:13

If you're here OYBBK, can you advise? Live in Chichester on the South xoast. Meant to be going to London for a visit to Globe theatre today. Have already paid ££ for it. I was going to drive to just north of Woking (where DD does ballet) and get the train from there (which is running), then we'd be back there for DDs ballet in the evening.
Last night we went up there and there was snow in Haslemere and Hindhead, none further north.
Are we OK to go? Don't want to miss it only to find there was no reason to. but don't want to be stranded 50 miles from home either!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/01/2013 07:15

Just in the middle of getting dressed so will answer some questions (for a short while) once im finsihed but just popped down to say its here about 45 minutes eaelier than I expected it. So yesterdays timings are not too far off.

So, the roads are clear and it's snowing lightly but not settling.
Nursery have texted to say they are opening at 7.45 but will shut within the hour if it carries on snowing Hmm
How am I supposed to work with a 4yr old here

NorksAreMessy · 18/01/2013 07:19

Good morning kitten
Thank you for the Malvern snow that arrived as expected. :)

We work from home so no need to go anywhere, just enjoying the perfect peace of nobody coming IN to the office and no need to drive DS around

Dawndonna · 18/01/2013 07:20

Snowed in on the Norfolk/Suffolk borders and brother has informed me that South West London has a good covering.

lubeybooby · 18/01/2013 07:21

Very light snow seems to have been going all night. Far SW corner of Leicestershire here... radar makes it look like the main event is about 30 mins away... hmmm

TheSkiingGardener · 18/01/2013 07:21

It's arrived!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really quite happy! Have a good day OYBBK.

Sparklingbrook · 18/01/2013 07:23

Morning! One school shut so far so DS2 happy. I am not risking the trip with DS1, it's starting to come down now.

MaureenMLove · 18/01/2013 07:23

You're hilarious Kitten! Waiting to get out of bed to post on Mumsnet. I think you may be a wee bit addicted. Grin

Well I've been at school for abut half an hour, patiently waiting and hoping all the staff get in. Nothing yet, but damn! it's bitter out there.

Stay safe everyone. See you on the other side!

Megsdaughter · 18/01/2013 07:25

Snowed in here behind Stonehenge, Day in on the sofa for me. Even the dogs only put their heads through the dog flap and went back to bed.

Kahlua4me · 18/01/2013 07:28

What about Berkshire? Will it ever snow here?

From the sounds of it everywhere around us seems to have some but not us (sad)
