Pigley we're in West Sussex and the shelves are empty already Hmm

EasyFromNowOn · 17/01/2013 20:04

About 1cm deep here in North Staffs, still falling consistently but not heavily yet. Am starting to ponder where DH is, as he isn't home from work yet...

Hoping it gets bad enough that schools are closed straight away tomorrow, most of this estate was ice before this started,

WeAreSix · 17/01/2013 20:05

Very curious to see what we get here... I'm right on the coast in West Sussex! We are very often protected by the South Downs and obviously the sea, but I do love to see snowy pebbles :)

StillSlightlyCrumpled · 17/01/2013 20:08

Pigley, glad today went well & that the snow held off.

abbierhodes · 17/01/2013 20:08

OYBBK, we have snow falling in Birmingham already! I didn't expect this! What does it mean? (You're my new guru!)

Urgh, I have to get DD from London to Cambridge tomorrow for an interview. The journey there should be ok, but dreading the way home tomorrow afternoon.....

radiohelen · 17/01/2013 20:12

It's been snowing in Leicestershire for most of the afternoon. It wasn't forecast and no-one has really mentioned it on the weather bulletins I've seen. We've got a covering now - only maybe 1 or 2cms but it's back to being white over. Now the BBC are saying this will continue through the night and into tomorrow. I wish they would make their mind up. I've got a baby swimming class to teach or abandon at 9.30am tomorrow.

MooseyMoo · 17/01/2013 20:12

Light snow in Oxfordshire since 3ish. Started to settle an hour ago. My DD managed to catch a snowflake, which she then wanted to put into her nursery bag. So cute. It's the first time she has seen snow falling and her joy and wonder just made my heart melt.

digerd · 17/01/2013 20:22

It appears we still have clear skies from what I can see in the dark - the lights of a plane. Is +1 on my house wall atm. Thames valley north. That means a very cold night again unless it clouds over later. DD hates driving to work in the snow and I worry for her.

Saltire · 17/01/2013 20:25

DH is down near Luton ish. And isn't due back till tomorrow. They (they being the otehrs that are on the course with him) are all being let away tomorrow lunchtime. I feel this is going to be too late , we are in rural north Yorkshire, York ish way.

The forecast seems to change every time I see it.

I have resigned myself to not getting to dumfries on saturday now

NeverKnowinglyUnderstood · 17/01/2013 20:27

OYBBK on the metoffice thing it looks like it might totally miss us in Cambridge.
what do you think?

WeAreSix · 17/01/2013 20:29

Hello joyful :)

I walked to school in snow and back home in drizzle on Monday. Very disappointing!!

I'm hoping the snow (if its significant) either comes first thing or holds off for late afternoon. My buggy won't like it!

SpottyTeacakes · 17/01/2013 20:29

A tesco near me has sold out of cucumbers Shock

snowflakehellokitty · 17/01/2013 20:31
Grin
Foggles · 17/01/2013 20:33

Snowing in Manchester/Oldham now.

DS hoping college is closed tomorrow Grin

AnneEyhtMeyer · 17/01/2013 20:33

Spotty - maybe the cucumbers are to go with the plums?

SpottyTeacakes · 17/01/2013 20:36

It's most odd Hmm we only went in to buy chocolate Grin

Helenagrace · 17/01/2013 20:37

Waves to wearesix and joyfulpuddlejumper! Also on West Sussex coast!

radiohelen · 17/01/2013 20:39

I'm wondering if our milkman is going to make it in the morning. Need extra pints in to make the meringue topped rice pudding tart the Guardian are printing on Saturday. Also for strawberry custard to go with the chocolate cake I'm planning on making for tomorrow (baking obsessive).

Still snowing.

I have cucumber if anyone needs an emergency one.

sittinginthesun · 17/01/2013 20:43

Spotty - our local Waitrose has sold out of red chillies, King Edwards, and cauliflowers.

missorinoco · 17/01/2013 20:44

It came early. Gah.
We were meant to be outside of the Amber warning zone for tomorrow too.

I had a fab moment on Monday when Met Office website was forecasting me sleet and the weather happily ignored it and snowed heavily.

Shall send snow vibes away from me to the rest of you.

crikey! what a lot of posts Grin

Tonight's snow fall has been greater than expected by me and I think the professionals. Snow showers were in the forecast, but its been rather more than that.
