Sil also in Glossop - she will NOT be happy!

robino · 17/01/2013 19:01

any more Manchester and or M62 updates? I'm beginning to worry that we'll either be horribly delayed or have to spend the first few days of our holiday at Manchester airport!

StillSlightlyCrumpled · 17/01/2013 19:02

Have texted DS2' taxi driver to say he won't be in tomorrow. He had ear surgery last week & is a bit under the weather (boom!boom!Grin) anyway. Feel relieved for having made the decision already. Am sure his school will be closed anyway.

DS3' snow trousers arrived today & DH is doing a big food shop right now so we are all set here.

Hope everyone home safely.

OYBBK - please, please say it won't be like this next weekend Smile.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 17/01/2013 19:02

It started snowing here in South Derbyshire at 6pm. There is now 1.5cm's covering the drive Shock

notnowImreading · 17/01/2013 19:02

OYBBK, any chance of a forecast for between Fareham in Hants and Chichester in W Sussex? I've been looking at the BBC site and it looks as though it won't start snowing in time to stop me going to work, but might well snow enough during the day to stop me getting home again - worst of all worlds! Thanks

According to BBC, robino, the serious stuff will fall from about 3pm onward tomorrow for a few hours, and then fall in bits and pieces for a few days. Not getting above 0 degrees til next week.

mankyscotslass · 17/01/2013 19:04

It's only very fine flakes here, it would need to get a lot heavier before it became a problem.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 17/01/2013 19:08

We have snow! Has been snowing since about 4pm, not very heavy but still definitely snow. This is unexpected. No forecast "gave it snow" for today. I am therefore losing faith in forecasts and may just start looking out of the window again.

(I'm in North Yorkshire).

mumineedapooooo · 17/01/2013 19:13

All the weather sites seem to keep changing their minds, anyone know what's going to happen in the Forest of Dean?
Know we're gonna get some but how much and when??

NO MORE SNOW PLEASE

Guess where I am in the country? We have so many fun things planned this weekend but none in walking distance. DH working from home tomorrow in case and I think I'll be staying home too but that means dd has to stay home so I'll now get no work done this week.

ARGH!

Hulababy · 17/01/2013 19:25

Been snowing steadily since end of school time; now getting heavier. Ho hum.

LostInWales · 17/01/2013 19:26

Getting very tense and worried here, because we poke right out into the Irish sea there's a chance it will rain and be windy and then about a mile inland there will be loads of lovely snow that we can't get to. It's probably the only time I wish I lived somewhere else, it never pigging snows here, humph. (And yes, I realise there are better things to get tense and worried about but I'm a bit bored and lost for what to do at the moment Wink)

BelleDameSansMerci · 17/01/2013 19:27

Full on snow here (West Yorkshire) now. Heavy and sticking. No satellite signal either... Arghhhhhhhh!

mankyscotslass · 17/01/2013 19:47

Very fine flakes here, not heavy at all really.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/01/2013 19:49

sorry heffalump was out at sainsburys.
He should try and get back tonight I think if he can, though that precipitation blob does look pretty stationary and I think that central england up towards yorkshire will get a few cm tonight now.

my dinner is ready now, back soon!

Well im pleased the snow held off today for Nan's funeral.

Forecast quite a bit for us here in West Sussex tomorrow. DH's train to London has been cancelled already! His last day at this job so really needs to get in!

Have no food in so best get to the supermarket tomorrow and fight amongst the panic buyers. Was hoping to put it off after cracking a rib today too!

On a better note, the DD's new fleecy wellyboot liners came today so we are ready for playing in the snow :)

letseatgrandma · 17/01/2013 20:01

What about Essex then, or has that been mentioned and I've missed it!

ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee · 17/01/2013 20:01

Pigley - sorry to hear about your Nan :( Glad the weather held for you though.

I have to go a good distance tomorrow (from SE to SW) and can't take my car, I was going by train but not too sure that's such a good idea now Confused. Family thing, so feel crap saying I can't go - but don't want to spend hours sat on a train going nowhere either. Sigh.
