Anyone fancy sending their snow to Trafford? Everywhere else is snowy and white, we've barely had a dusting, and the snow promised us tomorrow seems to be gone from the met office predictionsSad.
I want snow!

StairsInTheNight · 17/01/2013 17:48

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 17/01/2013 17:56

national rail disruptions

nannynick · 17/01/2013 17:59

Just been out to put some grit on the hill up to the small housing estate I live on in Surrey. Council gritters do not do our road, so we have a salt bin thingy. Hard to know how much to put down as currently there is only very light snowfall. Will check it later tonight to see how things go.

Seeing pictures on Twitter coming from people in Leeds area showing snow settling. Expect it may make it to Surrey area come early hours of the morning, probably in time for the morning drive to work.

nannynick · 17/01/2013 18:00

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten - no it's not highlighting it, least not on GoogleChrome.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 17/01/2013 18:01

nannynick, the heavier snow will probably be with you by around 9am ish. Just light snow before then I think (though the showers certainly are pepping up!)

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 17/01/2013 18:01

thanks, will change back :)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/01/2013 18:05

Yes, local news is saying same thing... 9am-10am snow expected. Though little showers from time to time, even had one at 11am this morning which delighted 2 year old. Leaving home 06:30 tomorrow so will remember to add some time for desnow/iceing, then once at work it will be check which schools are open before doing the school run. Not looking forward to school pickup tomorrow - that could be when there are problems if come 3pm we have snow settled on roads.

nannynick · 17/01/2013 18:09

Yep you are back to normal (highlighted post) Smile

JammySplodger · 17/01/2013 18:09

We've got some nice flakes coming down in Sheffield again now, they've already filled in the tracks the DSs ran round the garden.

educatingarti · 17/01/2013 18:11

OYBBK - I'm hanging on with one hand, clutching polished snow klaxon wit the other!

leesmum · 17/01/2013 18:13

Fear not fellow mancunians..light snow has been falli ng for the last half hour here in north Manchester x

lubeybooby · 17/01/2013 18:16

A light dusting here in Leicestershire. Can't wait for more tomorrow :o

Raahh · 17/01/2013 18:17

We've had very light snow here too (near Manchester Airport). Stopped now though.

MerryCouthyMows · 17/01/2013 18:19

Can I ask about North Essex? DD has been sent home with a letter telling us to listen to the radio about school closures in the morning, but we had a (very) light dusting, half an inch max, a few days ago, still sitting but none as yet today.

Are we likely to get lots of snow, it's unusual for the school to send letters home about it?

educatingarti · 17/01/2013 18:19

leesmum - that sounds like good news but I'm guessing you are on much higher ground than me! I'm on Salford/Eccles border within a stones-throw of the ship canal. I travel to students in various areas round about. Not unusual for there to be no snow here but loads even 4 just miles away, say in Kersal!

MirandaWest · 17/01/2013 18:20

The snow near York has stopped again. Can't work out if there is going to be much more at all tbh.

ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee · 17/01/2013 18:23

Not snowing here yet - well, it had a tiny tiny go at it earlier, but soon stopped.

sittinginthesun · 17/01/2013 18:27

I'm usually lurk on here, although even DH has started to ask me to check your threads, rather than the BBC for the latest update. Grin

I'm half dreading tomorrow. I'm near Watford, and I HAVE to get to work. That should be okay, but then I've get to get home again - car is rear wheel drive automatic which doesn't do snow. It's a two hour walk...Confused

mankyscotslass · 17/01/2013 18:36

Snow! Grin

Only started 2 minutes ago, but as the ground is so dry & cold it's lying already.

Heffalumpa · 17/01/2013 18:36

OYBBK - help! DH has been stuck stationary on a train from Hull trying to get back to MK. Said train is now turning back to Hull.

He's considering trying to get a hire car and driving back (if that's even possible this late). Is there any substantial snow forecast tonight that makes that a bad plan?!
