well, it looks like winter finally might be arriving!

First indications for snow are for this coming saturday as a low pressure draws in cold air . The met office arent really going for it at the moment, but the potential is certainly there. At the moment I'd say the biggest risk is for the midlands and central England.

After that there seems to be a cold few days but then the models start to disagree. GFS shows a positive snow fest for the 24th! masses of snow, but its a long way off and until we get much closer who knows what really will happen.

fun

LillethTheCat · 09/01/2013 10:47

Hi Catbag Im actually a little nearer Richmond than Darlington, but only by about a mile or so.

TheWoollybacksWife · 09/01/2013 10:55

Noooo

I normally love snow and I've had my freezer stocked for weeks waiting for this thread. Everyone is equipped with wellies, thermal socks and gloves...

BUT

I have to drive DD1 back to her halls of residence on Sunday and we are showing 80% chance of snow for Saturday and 90% for Sunday. DH can't take her as he has IMPORTANT THINGS to do watching the match Angry

LittleAbruzzenBear · 09/01/2013 11:24

Snow has only one purpose, to be there on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, if it is not there then it can feck off.

EllaEllaElla · 09/01/2013 11:28

I had no idea there was so much weather chat on MN! Just popped in to say I live in Eastern Europe and it starting snowing in November....and it is still fecking snowing.

I hate fecking snow.

LittleAbruzzenBear · 09/01/2013 11:37

I might start a sun watch thread. Smile

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 09/01/2013 11:37

DialsMavis · 09/01/2013 12:15

It's like early spring in West London this lunchtime Smile

DialsMavis · 09/01/2013 12:16

My washing has just gone out too, it was dark, grey and wet first thing

kateCUSTARD · 09/01/2013 12:41

Sparklingbrook · 09/01/2013 12:47

Sunny here. Yay. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 09/01/2013 12:48

Have been to the shops and they seem to have shoved deicer, scrapers, things for the bottom of your shoes etc to the front of the shops. Sad

EllaEllaElla · 09/01/2013 12:51

DD and I filled watering cans with water and food colouring the other day and 'painted' the snow - great fun!

It is still fecking snowing.

JellyBelly10 · 09/01/2013 13:26

It's sunny and spring-like here in Crowthorne (Berkshire) and I've just watched two pigeons having sex in my garden, so clearly they think it's spring!! REALLY do not want snow to come!

Chopstheduck · 09/01/2013 13:51

waves at Jellybean from Ascot!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/01/2013 14:10

LillethTheCat · 09/01/2013 14:36

on a positive note for me the DCs can finally get on the sleigh if it snows enough

PestoFrostissimos · 09/01/2013 14:38

You have a sleigh...? Shock

pepperrabbit · 09/01/2013 14:47

You're such a tease OYBBK Wink
BBC shows rain/dry for us sat/sun.
Netweather shows snow for most of sun.
I'm quite excited about the whole idea, but think I'll just believe it when I see it!

MumVsKids · 09/01/2013 14:53

We have a sleigh!! DH made it about 8 years ago.

Crafted out of finest oak with little metal runners that we have to wax up and everything :)

Just big enough to take both DDs on the school run :)

2Old2BeABluePeterPresenter · 09/01/2013 14:59

90% chance of snow here on Sunday got our sledge ready in the garage :) I am such a big kid!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/01/2013 14:59

The met office really arent going for the whole snow thing this weekend, preferring to stick with sleet on saturday and nowt but a few snow showers coming in off the east coast on Sunday which is in direct contrast with GFS (06Z model run) which still goes for snow in central england (towards Wales) and perhaps some of western Wales too before it moves eastwards over Sunday night.

Impatiently waiting for the 12Z model to come out. Another half an hour or hour probably....

DamnDeDoubtance · 09/01/2013 15:20

Now when you say east coast would east kent qualify?

We often get completely different weather to the rest of kent. Think it is to do with valleys or summit.
