well, it looks like winter finally might be arriving!

First indications for snow are for this coming saturday as a low pressure draws in cold air . The met office arent really going for it at the moment, but the potential is certainly there. At the moment I'd say the biggest risk is for the midlands and central England.

After that there seems to be a cold few days but then the models start to disagree. GFS shows a positive snow fest for the 24th! masses of snow, but its a long way off and until we get much closer who knows what really will happen.

No snow in Lancashire Sad

pigleychez · 14/01/2013 07:56

West sussex here and a light dusting overnight. Girls are abit put out!

Liking the sound of snow the weekend, it can be as heavy as it likes as long as theres no disruption on Thursday for Nan's funeral.

farmersdaugther · 14/01/2013 08:00

We have a very light dusting of snow here in West Berkshire. And it's still snowing.

Frankly it's not much at all but has made everything look so pretty this morning.

My made concern is lots of people do not know who to drive in snowy conditions. Please please lights on, drive slowly and safely people. Smile

OYBBK - what about the weekend after the 26th? Anxious about friends & family travelling the country to my 40th party.

Light dusting here today. Roads clear though. Am in the midlands with my favourite people travelling from the Cambridgeshire area on the 26th.

You are pretty fabulous to be doing all this! Smile

No snow or ground frost here in south Devon. It's chilly, but not cold!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 14/01/2013 08:11

SSC will get back to you after work :)

Sleeting here now, very wet and miserable - still some snow on the bins and cars but fading fast. Sad

Dusting in surrey hills. Weird out as it doesn't feel that cold. Ground not frozen. Water in chicken run not frozen either.

mumat39 · 14/01/2013 09:14

Light dusting here, but looks like it's already melting. :(

leesmum · 14/01/2013 09:17

More snow coming down in Manchester, not sure if it'll stick though!

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 14/01/2013 09:18

I don't actually believe in snow :(

mankyscotslass · 14/01/2013 09:24

No snow this side of Manchester - just heavy sleet. It does keep trying to snow though.

StarlightMcKenzie · 14/01/2013 09:29

Are we still on for a snowfest on 24th?

EastHollyDaleStreet · 14/01/2013 09:29

About an inch in cambridge - forecast heavy this afternoon though :(

archfiend · 14/01/2013 09:35

Pouring with rain here in worcs. very light covering of slush this morning which has gone now. Forecast keeps changing for later so no idea if we are due any more!

WhispersOfWickedness · 14/01/2013 09:46

About an inch here in North Lincolnshire. Due more later. DS (3) is desperate to go out and build a snowman, he may be disappointed!

letseatgrandma · 14/01/2013 10:05

Nothing here in Essex. Come on, this isn't fair !!

Sad
DeafLeopard · 14/01/2013 10:11

An inch or so in Northants, and falling again, expected to keep falling all day.

The snow itself on the roads isn't the problem round here, it is the idiots that don't know how to drive in it.

StairsInTheNight · 14/01/2013 10:14

We have about 1cm here in SE London, road areas look dissapointing, garden looks pretty.

Verymuch hoping for more today bu it looks like we are right on the line for rain...

Sparklingbrook · 14/01/2013 11:19

arch I can't make head nor tail of what's happening later either. It's peeing it down with rain in my corner of Worcestershire turning the snow to slush. I did have a bit of a hairy journey to the bus stop in the wilds but it was ok. Don't know whether to put snow shovel away or not. Confused

mumat39 · 14/01/2013 11:21

Edit. No sign of snow. All melted. I've spent the last two weeks reading about the weather on other forums and got myself all excited, which looking back was a waste of time.

I have to say though, in that time, OYBBK's observations have been the most accurate. So I'll just keep looking here and will stop wasting my time with the others including the met office who don't really seem to say anything definite.

Kitten, I don't know hoe you do it, but if weather forecasting was an Olympic event, you'd win gold every time. :) Thanks

GossipWitch · 14/01/2013 11:22

was expecting a bit of sleet last night, but it was snow and its big fat flakes now !!

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 14/01/2013 11:22

A few inches here in South Derbyshire and it's still snowing. It's going to be lethal after dark.
