Ooh Merrels, where's the best place to get Merrels?

Ooooh, I like your thinking, Squeak.

Plastic sledge, stickers, and new boots. Brilliant.

I really shouldn't buy any more boots though. I might have to get them and stash them away for Christmas. I can have 1 present, can't I ?

Hmmm.

Strats

Try

I got my BEAUTIFUL Prevoz's for £50 a few weeks ago.

Sometimes you have to bide your time and be patient.

Or

google your preferred style of boot, and go to shopping...then sort according to cost. I think Lillywhites and SportsDirect have some deals ATM.

OR

Ebay ! Some nice ones on there atm for £70. Fluffy, lace up, good stompy, yet stylish boots. In black or brown. Grin

I remember December 93. I was 8 1/2 months pregnant clearing a foot of snow off the car whilst speaking to my dad in Spain on the cordless phone and not sympathising with his freak sunburn.

Buy some yaktrax. I actually could not survive winter without them.

I love the winter and the snow.

Don't particularly like the 4 mile trek to work if I can't get the car up the hill out of the village.

I think I need yaktrax in my life. Trazzle, do you think they would go over my wellies?

Report
Trazzletoes · 12/10/2012 21:50

Happybunny, if I were you, I would get them in men's size, and a big one at that (assuming you also have giant clompy feet like me!). I don't see why they wouldn't be fine. They really work and saved me several times on sheet ice last winter.

It can snow 24 hours a day all winter for all I care. Last year I was due with dd2 at the start of Jan and terrified of not being able to get to the hospital. Now I care not. Bring it on!

I bought snow boots in January sale last year, consequently it didn't snow. Previous year got about half way to work, parked car and walked 3 miles home! Also bought snow shovel last year and salt for the drive. On maternity leave now so it can snow if it likes, I shall sit on my sofa and watch through the window Grin

I love the Winter when it is cold and snowy.

I have my Merrells, new Winter coat, snow shovel, yaktrax and snowsocks for DH's car (mine is a RW drive and no good in the snow)

We live in the middle of nowhere so I intend to stock up on food over the next few weeks.

I'm tempted to get some North Face boots as well

Of course, this means it won't snow.

DM was born in 63. Their farm was snowed in from hogmanay until march 31st. The first vehicle to get out took my gran to hospital to have DM.

I don't fancy another winter like that. It was waist deep here a couple of years ago and that was bad enough.

It won't snow, because people are prepared. There were LOTS of preparedy threads here last year, and not a bit of snow. Although the profileration of Yaktrax means there will be none of this malarkey

I know it's wrong, but people falling over is funny.

Well. I don't need a coat. But I do need boots. Several pairs. I need replacement fly boots for stomping inside, new hiking boots fir outdoors, new wellies for wet muddy snowy days.

And a slanket.

You want to house-swap for 3 months, boaty? We had snow Xmas eve- April in 2010-11. And on and off late October-Jan in 2009-10, iirc.

boaty · 12/10/2012 22:34

LOl...I think work might be a tad upset if I didn't go in for three months...so it looks like I have mild/damp!! ;)

Prepared?! England is terrible when it snows! Arf, everything just seems to stop!

I don't mind though, I blardy luff snows and winter, I'm all about the cozy and snuggling with blankets, you can't do that in the summer.
I do need to give birth first though so If it could hold off actual snow for 4-5 weeks I'd be grateful. Smile

I bought a new sledge from Costco today, a sure sign of heavy snowfall, my sixth sense must of been bleeping.
