Looking at forecasts, Arctic sea ice is low this usually ties in with bad/cold winters in the UK.

Must get dh to sort out gas, he wants to switch suppliers. I don't cRe as long as the tanks full before we're snowed in with the heating on full

DD was born NYE 2009 and our midwife walked through 3 foot of snow carrying her scales to come and weigh her when we'd been released a couple of days later. I was less keen on being pratically housebound for weeks with icy slush on the roads and post cs not being terribly confident on my feet.

BTW, I hate to be a killjoy but loads of berries only mean it was a good spring this year, it has absolutely no meaning for the upcoming winter.

I like winter. I love snow. I remember my Dad taking me down to the river in Putney, in '62/'63. It was frozen.
I remember digging my uncle's car out so that he could go to mass. I was five and loved it.
I'm in my fifties now and still love it.

We bought a sledge for DS1 last year but we'll have to walk a fair way to find a hill!

My dad worked for the met office as a forecaster before he retired. He still does consultancy for them and said the other week "If I were a gambling man, I'd put money on it being an unusually cold winter"

Of course, this is the man who, when I call him to ask if its going to rain says "I dunno".

Cornwall. It never ever gets above 20 degrees and rarely goes below 5.

We leave them on, loads of people use them up here, they're brilliant things. It's worth getting the higher spec ones imo.

Sugar, I went to school in Essex, that winter was fantastic, the snowdrifts were taller than me.

I love snow! I was very happy in December 2010, that we had snow for our wedding, it made for some beautiful pictures :)

I'd like a little bit this year, preferably none when we travel for a couple of weekends away though.

Worth noting that 'The North Face' winter boots have special, clever little 'ice pick' things in them that also grip the snow and ice so you don't end up on You've Been Framed or something.

And they really work ! My NF boots are so snuggly and comfy to wear I have lived in them this year. I appreciate there hasn't been any snow of late, but that's besides the point. I feel the cold very easily.

Scarah I'll always remember being in charge of my brother on our way home from school that winter and it taking us hours to get home because of all the snow and snowball fights despite only living 20 minutes away.

Funny how a thread like this can make you remember good times from long ago.

I like winter and I like snow if I can stay at home. But I hate having to walk anywhere when it's icy so can we please schedule any ice and snow for the school Christmas holidays?

SugariceandScarey I think you're meant to remove them on indoor floors (like shopping centres/shops) because of the risk of slipping and damaging the floor.

I haven't worn mine yet (got QVC and Costco ones).
But 2 years ago, the town centre was like glass even with my wellies on (the chunky tread ones)

I love snow! I live on a hill but we get gritted because there is a school at the back of our house, so we can walk easily to school.

Both me and oh can walk to work so we are lucky in that respect.

I have some snow boots and a gorgeous north face coat which I love!

Cant wait to get all wrapped up snug to go out!
