Seeing as the weekend weather forecast for us here in the Midlands is so 'up in the air' (the forecasters aren't sure how far north this weather front with its snow will get so we've got 'there might be snow showers but keep tuned to the TV/radio'), I thought it was worth starting a thread to see what weather everyone actually gets.

It's dry and frosty at the moment here in Leicester.

And just to add the updated weather warnings from the Metoffice

Thankfully we haven't been hit hard this time round (NE) but on the met office pressure charts it looks like there's a dumping coming to the east coast this aft.

piratecatClaus · 18/12/2010 07:23

snowed overnight here in southernmost devon. There is about 4-5cm on the ground. Very rare for us.

i think we are getting more today and tomorrow, but our temps will become milder so i am hoping for a thaw next week. (prays because family need to fly in to Exeter)

moonmother · 18/12/2010 07:25

Dry and very cold here in Bedfordshire.

When I woke at 6.30 the sky was clear, but now have cloud cover rolling in.

It's -4 outside and pressures steady at 992.

We are in the 'snowzone' for later , lol.

Whether we get it or not will be a different matter.

To be honest I'm just radar and window watching, and ignoring all forecasts.

It's gonna be a cold icy one where ever you are so, keep safe .

BlathIceSkate · 18/12/2010 07:48

We're supposed to be travelling from Bucks to Yorkshire on Friday to spend Christmas with my family. I went out last night and bought a whole, spare, simple Christmas lunch just in case we get stuck.

Sods law would now dictate that we don't need it so the snow will be light Xmas Grin

We've got a light dusting here atm and it's very cold. Not sure what the forecast is for later.

TinselinaBumSquash · 18/12/2010 07:52

We had snow overnight Sad (west sussex) the met office clais it will be clear the rest of the day though. The panto is this close to being cancelled, we have all worked so hard :( :(

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 18/12/2010 07:54

No snow here yet (East Northamptonshire) - but it's bloody freezing.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 07:57

Good morning all, set the alarm specially for you lot! off to check the models.

NightLark · 18/12/2010 08:03

South Yorks here, Met office forecasts and BBC are in complete disagreement and have been for days! Met office currently saying we should have had snow overnight (we didn't), and BBC that we're not expecting anything.

We have about 2cm of snow on the ground, it's cloudy and very cold.

Supposed to be driving to London today. Ha.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 08:15

ok. (not quite awake yet and hands rather sore so scuse any typos )

Basically, some people, primarily in a band from the top end of Wales, through Oxfordshire and then Sussex will have a lot of snow. the band seems almost stationary through the morning.
This afternoon the London area will have a big problem.

Away from the snow band you are basically ok.

tomorrow in a mo.

nicolamumof3 · 18/12/2010 08:15

West Kent here, had quite a bit of snow at lunchtime between 12 and 2.30pm yesterday forecasted another 'dumping' this lunchtime will wait and see the snow is now frozen its been bitter cold roads v.v.v.icy.

TinselinaBumSquash · 18/12/2010 08:15

Shit Sad

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 08:16

oh, its snowing :)

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 08:16

oh bum - sorry Tinelina - bad x-post!

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 08:20

Some uncertainties tomorrow - primarily for the SW, East Anglia (first thing) and the north east (and perhaps yorkshire) Models are in disagreement for the detail. In general, if you have managed to dig yourselves out then tomorrow looks like a much better travelling day.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 08:24

oops - should add that dor today, the snow north of Leeds will in general move out by lunchtime and the nE through Scotland will have snow showers. The white stuff outside my window is a bit distracting!

BlathIceSkate · 18/12/2010 08:29

I've been checking South Yorks too NightLark. Supposed to be traveling there from North Bucks on Friday. Will have a 1 year old and almost 4 year old with me so need plain sailing

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 08:35

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 08:40

mankyscotslass · 18/12/2010 08:41

Gah, only an inch last night, if that. Bh Humbug

MrsThisIsTheCadillacOfNailguns · 18/12/2010 08:43

Clear and icy in Leicestershire.I am out beating for the local shoot today,so have my thermals on.I'm very disappointed that there is no more snow for us,but at least the frozen ground will be easier to walk over than the mud we usually contend with.

MegGriffin · 18/12/2010 08:44

Just started snowing Wesy sussex

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 18/12/2010 08:45
