and its sse again.
Well goodnight all, I'll check in in the morning.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 16/12/2010 19:26

GWB - If you are about still I see congratulations are in order Xmas Grin

crumbs, another bad year for cherries then.

G'night Twitmas :)

showers generally confined now to western parts of Wales and SW and mucho showers from Fife up in Scotland. Also parts of EA.

Rain/snow should clear away from the SE in a bit.

SuePurblybiltbyElves · 16/12/2010 20:31

I don't think we'll be getting snow until Saturday Xmas Sad
Devon btw

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 16/12/2010 20:40

Saturday may be a bit marginal for you I'm afraid. But I think you will see a covering by tomorrow morning - some showers look to move across from Cornwall and I think it will be cold enough to be snow.

SuePurblybiltbyElves · 16/12/2010 20:43

Marginal Sad. I knew it.
Wave your wand kitten please.

nearlytoolate · 16/12/2010 20:44

so are you saying there is still a lot of uncertainty about Sat/Sun? I am hoping to drive from NE to E Midlands and back then! Forecast sounds awful but I know that often that means it will be snowing in London and we are often pretty unscathed!

dietcokesholidaysarecoming · 16/12/2010 21:07

no no no Devon can't have snow unless it has cornwalls share. We have hospital tomorrow!

SuePurblybiltbyElves · 16/12/2010 21:09

I'll have yours dietcokes. You'd never be coming t hospital via here. Nothing is via here Xmas Grin

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 16/12/2010 21:18

nearlytoolate - there is a lot of uncertainty. There will be snow and probably both days but as to who gets it? I think tbh it is better to pay close attention to met office warnings and go with it.

sorry Sue :(

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 16/12/2010 21:20

BTW Unmetioned - how was your travelling today?

dietcokesholidaysarecoming · 16/12/2010 21:26

OYBBK do you mean me?

Travel across county was fine today. Exhausted now though. Tomorrow is the tough challenge.

We have snow now on higher ground in villages probably 15 mins away

SuePurblybiltbyElves · 16/12/2010 21:29

OYBBK - just let dog out and he's come in covered in...........graupel! The joy.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 16/12/2010 22:02

I'm glad it was fine and you are back safe and sound dietcoke. :) I did mean theunmentionable as the thread starter, but it is good to hear of safely travelled mners.

Sue - that is really funny!

dietcokesholidaysarecoming · 16/12/2010 22:08

Sorry I thought you meant me Blush

WilfShelf · 16/12/2010 22:11

Yes. Um. I was thinking that exact thing too...

lostinwales · 16/12/2010 22:22

It's snowing, it's snowing, . I know you all hate it by now but we live on an estuary by the sea and have had no snow AT ALL in the last few weeks (ten miles in any direction shut schools etc but nothing here), I hope to goodness it sticks a little for the morning as the DS' have been SO disappointed watching the news, and having snowed in grandparents in Yorkshire. It's our turn! Xmas Grin

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 16/12/2010 22:25

dont be a blushing dietcoke :)

sorry Wilf, I tend to get a bit carried away! stevenson screen

yay lostinwales - thats ace!!

lostinwales · 16/12/2010 22:30

Thanks OYBBK, I know everyone else is fed up with it but, well I'm a child at heart (and thankfully not planning on going anywhere until next july ) so it's lovely for us and not a pain in the bum at all. Although the village abounds in stories of 1982 when there was so much snow people were going to the pubs for communal meals and bread was actually taken in to the next village by boat!

lostinwales · 16/12/2010 22:33

And I really want a Stevenson Screen now I've clicked on your link Xmas Smile. (Apologies for starting a sentence with and for any pedants in the weather corner)

gruber · 16/12/2010 22:34

Slight snow shower on south coast (Portsmouth), temp dropping rapidly to -1 now from +5 this afternoon. Bitter, bitter wind. Clearing skies, no further snow showers (didn't settle anyway). HTH.

WilfShelf · 16/12/2010 22:35

Coooooool. Invented by RL Stevenson's dad, no less. Now I know what to get DH for Christmas Grin

Do you think I could knock one up from an old ironing board and a biscuit tin with holes drilled in it?

WilfShelf · 16/12/2010 22:36

Actually we have a proper weather station very close to us, with proper gadgets and everything. Fenced in.

DH likes to tell the kids that Dave the local friendly tiger lives in there HmmGrin

MrsThisIsTheCadillacOfNailguns · 16/12/2010 22:53

nearlytoolate I'm in the East Midlands and our local weather has just been on showing very heavy snow for Saturday. In fact,it looks so bad that I am going to do all my shopping tomorrow in case we can't get out after the weekend. Please be careful if you decide to risk it.

mychatnickname · 16/12/2010 23:01

They keep changing the forecasts every five minutes. Maybe they should just say "we don't really know"? Hmm

I have paid £100 for tickets to a black tie thing in town and if my babysitter can't make it here from where she lives (quite far away) we won't be going.....Shock

TeuchnutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 17/12/2010 01:54

Graupel gales here in the Hebrides! Oh the excitement...

Husband is out calving a poor cow which is why I am lying here listening to the storm and having the brainwave to update you all Grin
