I have to get to a very important appointment and will have a new baby and preschooler in the car.

We've now got weird snow, not grauel (or gruel or whatever it is) but it's making a hissing noise as it hits the trees. I have to go out and get dd1 in an hour

dh is cycling back from the station in this. Well, I did warn him.....

Dd1's Mum with the Land Rover has swung into action

wilf, its tricky. I keep uhmming about a proper stevenson screen but they are so expensive. So I've constructed my own out of polystyrene packaging. It is then stashed on a pole in the middle of a bush. Temps seem to tie in very well with a local airfield, just a little slower to react.

It is great you can zoom in on your location and use 'rainfall' to see how close the nearest showers are to you. The ones that are forecast within a couple of hours of your time tend to be pretty accurate, then obviously with decreasing accuracy the further out you look.

Light snow here - Surrey/Kent border.

DH and I were shopping in Loughborough today and you could feel the temp dropping rapidly.t was 7c and rainy from 11-2pm,then it got very cold very quickly,the car thermometer went down from 5c to 2c in about 5 minutes and the snow started at 2.45.It was blizzard like and has settled.It stopped at about 5.30pm.I have to take my mum to a hospital appointment in Leicester tomorrow and am quite apprehensive about the road conditions,we are about 12 miles away and don't often get gritters out here.

If the forecast is worse for Saturday,I'm going to finish my Christmas shopping tomorrow instead if I can,I daren't leave it in case we get snowed in.

Actually I'm glad, snow and ice are such a pain in the arse when all is said and done. I just liked getting into watching it and seeing if it happened the way it was 'supposed' to. hehehe

My Mum says they've had abut 30 mins of snow north notts/derbys border.

It must not settle, otherwise her friend's drip of a husband won't let her go with my Mum to Stansted (where it must also not settle) to get me tomorrow.

I have to be competely honest about this weekend. The models are everywhere - complex lows modelled for bith saturday and Sunday and none of the models really agree where they will end up and how bad they will be.

Cherries were bad this year because of a "bad winter" (in their terms) They were mucho expensive.

Nottinghamshire been raining this morning and midday it was sleet and a snow shower which hasnt setteled however my mum half hour away in derbyshire it has setteled.
