All this talk of Snowmaggedon reminded me of this which someone mocked up after the huge snowfalls and thundersnow in Dundee.

It helps if you are familiar with Dundee/Scots dialect Grin.

We had heavy sleet about 11.30 but now sunny and biting wind.

winterpetunia · 16/12/2010 14:03

Just started sleeting but with quite big snow flakes, here in Leicester.

GentleOtter · 16/12/2010 14:09

Bigteuch - "Eh wiz fair buggurt gaen far ma pehz (twa pehz and an ingin een an aw) and ah skited on meh erse crossing the Kingsway. Fars Dennis Quaid onywey and fars the bliddy cooncil?" Xmas Wink

WilfShelf · 16/12/2010 14:11

Icemageddon!

TeuchnutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 16/12/2010 14:21

oh oh oh! we have snow! We never get proper snow!

Rudolphsnose · 16/12/2010 14:26

Bristol currently just grey and drizzling, not particularly cold yet, no doubt waiting for the school run.

According to my weather app we will have snow tomorrow and all weekend, possibly next week too. Any thoughts Kitten?

We are going to the PILs for Christmas, they're Bath way but very rural, will we be ok on Christmas eve do you think?

WilfShelf · 16/12/2010 14:30

Oh oh, at snow here now too. Falling lightly but rapidly... Too wet/warm to stick right now but temp still dropping (now 4.2)

I love this. So brilliant that OYBBK got it so precisely RIGHT again! And I love weather too. I wish I could retrain to be a weather type. Are there any jobs in, um, weather?

Have you all joined the Cloud Appreciation Society by the way?

PartridgeinaRustyBearTree · 16/12/2010 14:34

Really hope the rogue model predicting no massive snow on Saturday is right - I'd just like to get DD home from uni in Exeter, then it can snow a blizzard.

I've warned her to be prepared to come home by train if we can't make it, but I'm worried she'll decide to get a lift from some friend who's never driven in snow yet...

SantasMooningArse (are you Sancti btw?) if we both get stuck on the M5 on Saturday, we can hold a mini MN meetup....

ProfYaffle · 16/12/2010 14:34

Tiny bits of snow just starting now in South Norfolk.

PartridgeinaRustyBearTree · 16/12/2010 14:36

Kitten - are you actually managing to get anything done between checking models and answering our questions?

Your DC will know who to blame if you don't manage to get everything bought/wrapped/cooked...

ledodgy · 16/12/2010 14:48

Just wet and miserable here now. I will be so pissed off if we don't get snow!

wineonafridaynight · 16/12/2010 14:50

Well it has been snowing on the warks/northants/leicestershire border since before I woke up this morning and it has finally just turned to snow. big flakes coming down at the moment but I can't see it staying. The ground is very soggy and it is still 4 degrees outside so maybe a bit warm.

Interestingly my Iphone has said all day that the forecast is snow and it has been raining. That is until I checked now. Now it says the forecast is sunshine, but that right now it is raining, when in fact outside my front door is snow! Nice and reliable that one! Grin

patienceplease · 16/12/2010 14:50

patienceplease · 16/12/2010 14:52

I'm at the Severn bridge services... And we have clear skies and lOvely bright sunshine. 6.5 degrees. Have cone through horrible grey rain but here looks like a lovely day! Don't think it will last!

ledodgy · 16/12/2010 14:54

Ooh hang on I think we have snow now....

ledodgy · 16/12/2010 14:57

It only lasted about 30 seconds. Hmm

GentleOtter · 16/12/2010 15:02

Don't let it trick you ledodgy, it does that, snow.

Next thing you know will be a huge whumff and there will tons of it.

WilfShelf · 16/12/2010 15:02

We have proper wintry scenes back again already now! Swirly wind is back too. Snow still falling and now sticking, temp still dropping (was 3 C when I last checked).

We are quite high up though.

NoahAndTheWhale · 16/12/2010 15:09

The bits of snow in York stopped. Is getting colder (was 0 just now) but nothing interesting happening.

DanceInTheDark · 16/12/2010 15:10

It has stopped here too. Although the temp has since dropped from 5 to 3

ledodgy · 16/12/2010 15:10

I hope the huge whumpff comes soon my children are not going to be impressed I told them that we would have proper snow.

Deliaskis · 16/12/2010 15:33

Mid-Cheshire we had quite a lot of big fat snowflakes for about half an hour around 2pmish, but all gone now, and nothing that has stuck so far.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 16/12/2010 15:38

BigTeuch - I have that pic on my FB, made me laugh! The thundersnow was amazing though - would love to get it again!

mankyscotslass · 16/12/2010 15:39

Snow atopped after half an hour. It didn't lie at all. And it is now bitterly cold.

SantaClausImWorthIt · 16/12/2010 15:47

SW London - massive black cloud just passing overhead, and it's hailing now!

I'm about to go out, so will find out what the temperature is from the car's computer.
