what do you think? will the uk be buried under 6 foot of snow, or will cheltenham be cold, wet and windy?

OP posts:
mankyscotslass · 23/12/2010 10:38

What's that white stuff drifting down outside then? Shock

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 23/12/2010 10:53

lol!!!!!
Actually I have no idea where the stuff over mid southern Wales and stretching NE has come from. Much of northern england and the northern midlands seem to have showers!!! I really thought it would stay NE.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 23/12/2010 10:57

Actually I can see where its come from - the north sea but the question is, whats it doing all the way over there? It was supposed to stay confined.

Shows what a tricky business this snow lark can be!

mankyscotslass · 23/12/2010 10:59

It weas only a light flurry really, and lasted maybe 10 minutes, but it kept the kids entertained and excited!

THere are clouds coming over from the Pennines, and they look quite grey, so I won't be surprised if we get a few more flurries in a bit.

I'm not expecting anything more than that, looking at the broken clouds.

laughalot · 23/12/2010 11:01

yep im north east midlands nottinghamshire and we have a few little showers every now and then !

takingchances · 23/12/2010 11:28

FECK'S SAKE. Dublin Airport closed due to blizzard, flight cancelled. Am listening to tinkly hold music now on on Aer Lingus premium number, so far have been waiting 22 minutes...

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 23/12/2010 11:33

what!!!! takingchances - thats daft - they do have a good blob over them but it looks no more than a large shower.

Deliaskis · 23/12/2010 12:27

Weird, against odds we also have snow here in Cheshire. None of the reports predicted this!

It's not heavy, but sky looks heavy so could continue for a while if the cloud doesn't move off.

So surprise snow for us, but I don't care as I now have nowhere I have to be!

takingchances · 23/12/2010 12:28

Apparently it's coming down v thick and fast. Am now flying into Shannon tomorrow morning instead and need to find a way to get back across the country to Dublin!

mankyscotslass · 23/12/2010 12:31

Nothing else here since that flurry earlier.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 23/12/2010 13:09

Good luck takingchances - what a pain for you!

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 23/12/2010 13:09

it is rather odd Delia!! Happy Christmas Xmas Grin

Deliaskis · 23/12/2010 13:33

Xmas Grin and to you!

MrsThisIsTheCadillacOfNailguns · 23/12/2010 14:59

Light snow in Leicestershire, although none was forecast.I was looking at the sky earlier and thought that it looked like snow.We have had no post for two days, and I'm waiting on 3 parcels, the roads are clear today so I don't understand it.

TeuchnutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 23/12/2010 15:33

Bbrrrrrrrr cha! It is colder than I ever remember!

MET Invent is telling me that we will have a small temp rise in the next few days, and maybe precipitation overnight, tonight.

OYBBK, can you use your special powers others sources to see whether you think that will be more snow or whether we will actually get rain?? Inner hebrides.

We are so over the snow now. It is fun for a while, but the poor animals can't get any grazing and the water is all frozen so DH is carting buckets of water to them Sad

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 23/12/2010 18:23

Teuch - I think you may get some more snow overnight. sorry. I don't think you've really a risk of rain until Boxing day and even then I don't know what it will come in as yet. Its really hard to tell

Met office are now going for a fair bit of snow for most of the UK boxing day night with rain in the west. Through the Monday it shows turning to sleet or rain. I really don't think what will happen is tied down at all. Weather will move in from the west but in what form it falls out of the sky? difficult and well worth being prepared for a tricky day Monday while it sorts itself out.

duckyfuzz · 23/12/2010 18:31

It's been snowing on and off throughout today here, but it was forecast so I can't complain too much!

TeuchnutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 23/12/2010 19:27

thanks OYBBK...we would prefer rain, but hey ho! You can only do so much Wink

Best dig out the sherry...for warming purposes you understand Grin

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 23/12/2010 19:29

lol - just the sherry? I'm eyeing up the whiskey Xmas Grin

duckyfuzz · 23/12/2010 19:34

Getting a right dumping here now and thundersnow Shock

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 23/12/2010 19:36

blimey. Thundersnow again. This is an impressive winter for sure!

duckyfuzz · 23/12/2010 19:48

It's quite incredible kitten, you must be in your element!

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 23/12/2010 19:50

I am!!!!! I really feel very sorry for all the very real hardship and worry and difficulty it is causing people. But it is a fascinating set up. Really really interesting.

mankyscotslass · 23/12/2010 19:54

Enough with the dumpings and the thundersnow. Envy

Bit chilly here again tonight!

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 23/12/2010 20:02
