what do you think? will the uk be buried under 6 foot of snow, or will cheltenham be cold, wet and windy?

oh you good kitten... if you get a wee chance to peer at the models through the haze of illness, could you see how travel will be between glasgow and fife on christmas day? and back again the following day?

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 22/12/2010 10:51

Aitch - GFS shows snow in Scotland christmas morning then snow generally in scotland on Boxing day (and maybe through northern england too) I don't think the met office is showing the same, I think it is going for drier.

Incidentally GFS seems to have pushed most of the warm up until the Monday now

I'm not so bad, (thumping head though) but dd is not at all well. At what stage do we cancel going to see relatives?

AitchTwoOh · 22/12/2010 10:53

first question. how much do YOU want to see relativos? Wink

i don't want to drive through falling or new snow, tbh, kitten, so do you think i should canx my plans and have xmas here? i have to make my mind up pretty soon...

duckyfuzz · 22/12/2010 10:56

Snowing in NE now.

Sarahfreck my bro lives round there, I'll try and find out for you

sarahfreck · 22/12/2010 10:58

Thank you ducky!

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 22/12/2010 11:04

I really really really want to see them but I don't want to give them all a pukey Christmas. they will be really upset too.
Feel like crying.

I wouldnt cancel your plans just yet, the met office don't seem to be going for snow at all and having a quick peruse of the weather forums they all seem to be leaning towards a dry Christmas day.

duckyfuzz · 22/12/2010 11:12

Roads ok round malmesbury :)

duckyfuzz · 22/12/2010 11:15

Kitten can you give it another 24 hours before you decide?

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 22/12/2010 11:24

I think so ducky - I'm going to see how dd goes for the rest of the day and then let my family know about it. I think they ought to have the final say when it comes to tummy stuff.

AitchTwoOh · 22/12/2010 11:42

ps the thumping head and sickness thing is the same virus. i had it a couple of weeks ago. you may not vom yourself, though. ime it's done and dusted in 48 hours.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 22/12/2010 11:44

oh. Thats why I didnt want any dinner last night or my breakfast. I did think we were being rather unlucky!

AitchTwoOh · 22/12/2010 12:00

i seriously dosed myself up with mega painkillers, my head felt like it was in a vice.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 22/12/2010 13:14

Thats sounds horrible :(
dd seems a lot brighter and has so far kept down some toast. Hopefully its just a short lived tummy bug for her.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 22/12/2010 13:20

Anyway, back to weather.

Bit of a heads up for those in the sE and south for tomorrow - some potential for some snow I'm afraid. Looks like it is going to come in around the thames area and move across (not sure how far across). I think Kent and Sussx are most in the firing line.

laughalot · 22/12/2010 13:31

still snowing in notts

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 22/12/2010 13:48

how much are you up to this thime round laughalot?

laughalot · 22/12/2010 13:58

Alot less than a few weeks back a couple of cm maybe. It has stopped now as I type it did say on the news it would clear later I bet my dh still wont be able to get the car up our hill Grin.

I hope your dd is on the mend and you feel better yourself soon.

RosieSippingGinWithSanta · 22/12/2010 14:01

Kitten, my parents are due to drive from Eastbourne to Herts on Friday, is it not looking good?

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 22/12/2010 14:08

Could be a bit dicey Rosie - still some uncertainty I'm afraid.

one of my bloody cats has just been sick on my clean jumper wash. great. dd much better though.

ebonyfish · 22/12/2010 14:11

Thanks for all your postings SnowyKitten.

Wishing you and your family a speedy recovery and a Very Merry Christmas.

Xmas Smile
RosieSippingGinWithSanta · 22/12/2010 14:13

Thanks Kitten, glad Dd feeling better, yuk at sick cat though.

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 22/12/2010 14:25

Thank you ebonyfish a Very Merry Christmas to you too :)

(sorry about my lack of festive cheer today!)

mankyscotslass · 22/12/2010 15:45

Aw Kitten, hope you, your DD and the cat are better soon.

Just dry and cold here, everythnig icy and treacherous.

No snow Sad

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 22/12/2010 17:12

thanks Manky - dd is loads better now :) dramatic but short lived (hopefully)(the bug I mean, not dd!) Cat is fine too, snoring away.

Tomorrow, friday and Christmas day all look pretty similar. Bit of a snow risk for SE and EA. somewhat more of a snow risk for top end of Scotland dry for most others.

Aitch - Christmas day looks ok now on the latest gfs. Boxing day afternoon still looks a bit dodgy. Boxing day night looks very snowy as does the monday for much of Scotland and a good part of northern england. I spect the models will be different again tomorrow!
As for the tuesday gfs shows really marginal cold rain/sleet

OhYouSnowySnowyKitten · 22/12/2010 20:35

It does look quite likely now that tomorrow some of Kent and perhaps Sussex will see some decent snowfall. I don't know how far it will extend. The possibility is there for friday as well.
