Been too busy to look at weather stuff in any detail at all this week Shock

Obviously details are low at the moment but Monday does look quite interesting as a low moves through. Strong gusty winds, which many of us have not seen for a good while. met office are showing gusts over 40mph right across the uk, 50-60mph in places Keep an eye on this in case the low deepens more than they expect.

We have a digital one too - utterly fab! Dropped to 992 now!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/11/2010 22:17

excellent!

no reports from our hardened nw Scottish reporters yet. Either blown away or the 60-70mph gusts they are currently getting in places are considered nowt but a stout breeze!

petunia · 07/11/2010 22:18

Someone on Metmonkey gave this link (scroll down the page a little) for the weather on the Isle of Lewis at the moment. It's interesting to watch what the windspeed's doing.

Remotew · 07/11/2010 22:21

We have a 'be prepared' weather warning for tomorrow, North West. Not sure what they mean by that.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/11/2010 22:21

seen on a weather forum gusts of 77mph

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/11/2010 22:22

abouteve it means tether your trampoline, prop up your dodgy fence panels and put away any crap you have in your garden.

Remotew · 07/11/2010 22:26

Thanks, but of crap in the garden but I'm already undressed so it will have to stay out.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/11/2010 22:27

petunia - what a cool weather link - would love a weather station and data logger that could produce something like that.

Tortington · 07/11/2010 22:29

i have a phobia of the sound of wind - i wonder what that is called - so not actually wind itself - but the sound.

got i hate wind.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/11/2010 22:35

thats not good custy, no idea where you are but I hope you have an undisturbed night.

am off to bed, sleep well all, dont let the wind rattle your window panes Grin

Northernlurker · 07/11/2010 22:36

991.....

OhYouBadBadKitten · 07/11/2010 22:37

:)

MrsThisIsTheCadillacOfNailguns · 07/11/2010 23:26

Thankyou OYBBK.
Dh said earlier that it was going to be a bad day tomorrow,so had decided to stay in and make chutney. However, you have reminded me that the power here goes off at the slightest excuse [all overhead lines],so will find out the torch, candles and matches in readiness.I've just been out into the garage and there is no wind or rain here yet [east mids],but it is very cold.

EsmeWeatherwax · 07/11/2010 23:46

Oh my, in Central Scotland here, and the storm has hit.

Northernlurker · 07/11/2010 23:53

988...

MrsThisIsTheCadillacOfNailguns · 08/11/2010 00:00

Just heard a gust of wind really booming against the house. We are exposed on 3 sides with nothing but fields and trees around. There is nothing to stop the wind here.I'll put money on the power going out tomorrow.

Northernlurker · 08/11/2010 00:34

986....

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/11/2010 07:12

morning - we are down at 973 (corrected) had around 25mm of rain so far but winds only gusting to around 30mph.

Are you still there MrsCN or have you blown away? How about you Esme?

ok, off to check the situation - back with latest report

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/11/2010 07:14

oh, snow up in the peak district....

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/11/2010 07:22

ok, not much to report at the moment, no new flash warnings and a lot of advisories seem to have been removed. Interesting.

YourCallIsImportant · 08/11/2010 07:27

I'm just north of Glasgow, and it's been wild all night as you predicted.

My little weather station is showing pressure at 966.

I absolutely love your threads, I'm a weather buff myself, but nowhere near as knowledgeable, so thanks for helping me learn more about this fascinating subject.

Northernlurker · 08/11/2010 07:57

974 here. Not raining right now, brisk wind, feels a bit cold.

petunia · 08/11/2010 07:58

Very wet here (Leicester), bit windy but not too bad.

moonmother · 08/11/2010 08:00

Wet, mildy windy and very cold here in Bedfordshire.

Not looking forward to the school run lol

For anyone thats interested Aldi has Digital Radio Controlled Weather Stations in store at the moment for £17.99.

I'm off to get one this morning - they are better than the one I've got at the moment Smile

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/11/2010 08:15

Yourcall - you are very welcome :) (starting the day with a smile now!)

  1. Fascinating, between us, we can work out where the rough centre of the low is!

not looking forward to the school run either in some ways, very stiff and sore this morning. But at the same time, nice to be out in a bit of weather!

I think they might put some warnings out for heavy rain in the central south/se areas soon.
