Have you made your celeriac and fennel soup yet @cricketmum84? I've just watched the finale of HFW Veg programme and he made some. Just used some of the fennel fronds at the end

@PartTimeDomesticGoddess I soak the dates overnight in leftover coffee from the day before - you can just add them without soaking if you have a powerful blender though

cricketmum84 · 05/09/2020 17:15

No didn't bother with the soup today @PartTimeDomesticGoddess. Nobody was hungry at lunchtime so would have been a waste of time. Will probably give it a go tomorrow though x

We love the mushroom and leek bangers. Our neighbour recommended them. They're so good for sausage and mash, yum!

Agree about Kinda Co cheese. I have the nacho cheese and Greek style on the go at the moment. The garlic and herb is great too and they used to do a marmite one which was amazing. Had the proper umami taste vegan cheese struggles to recreate. Vegan kind supermarket stock it too.
Today
B: granola with added flax seed and sliced almonds with oat milk. Orange juice and coffee
L: katsu curry (at Wagamama), green tea and fruit pastille ice lolly
D: will be homemade red pepper and mushroom Balti curry with pakora, pickles and naan bread and probably some wine.
No snacks for a change.

MummytoCSJH · 05/09/2020 19:02

Oooh can I join in please! Breakfast was porridge made with oat milk, passionfruit, raspberries, blueberries and almonds. Out and about today so no lunch unless a red bull counts. Dinner was (veg) chilli cheese topped fries and salad. I'm an applewood cheese girl myself Grin

Loads of great ideas here!!

planplan · 05/09/2020 19:03

Bagel with peanut butter
Tostados (in cafe)
Dinner will be pasta with pesto and smoked tofu
No snacks - yet!

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 06/09/2020 03:56

Is bangers the brand name? I need to start making a list of stuff for my mum to get in for Christmas when I fly home 🤞🏻

L: pita, black bean hummus, falafel, tabbouleh
S: brownie (nom nom)
D: kimchi salad and mango

Submariner · 06/09/2020 06:49

@London1066 they are! I think it's because they don't try to taste 'meaty' they've concentrated on making them taste lovely in their own right.

@IJumpedAboardAPirateShip these are in Waitrose, in their vegan fridge bit. They're called 'Mushroom and Leek Bangers'. Oddly specific, they have avoided using the word sausage anywhere on the packet!

cricketmum84 · 06/09/2020 09:33

Am planning a very low cal day today as I'm desperately trying to break into the next stone bracket and struggling with a plateau! Damn you naughty vegan jelly sweets!

Plan on some melon and grapes for lunch and then will make the celeriac and fennel soup I had planned from yesterday :)

ppeatfruit · 06/09/2020 13:11

cricket i can give you a hand if you want (with the weight loss). Iam maintaining a 3 stone reduction , initially done with the help of Paul Mackenna's I can Make You Thin (I hate that title ) with cutting out sugar and sweeteners. Sometimes I have molasses in oats. (though interestingly I did it for the health of my teeth, what with the dentists being in lockdown etc !!).

Oh and Food Combining.

ppeatfruit · 06/09/2020 13:18

I'll tell dsis about those Waitrose bangers!

B.Leftover apple/ginger smoothie.
L.Spelt toast. yeast flakes, tahini plus usual salad.
S.HM nori, onion, garlic, fresh and dried basil, pnut butter sauce, risotto.

cricketmum84 · 06/09/2020 13:27

@ppeatfruit I've been on it since Jan 19 and lost just over 8 stone so far! Got about another 4 to go but really struggling at the moment.

Any and all advice is grateful received!

PartTimeDomesticGoddess · 06/09/2020 13:30

Morning all and hello to any new comers Smile

Yesterday was
B: spiced porridge with soya milk, sultanas and seeds. And some tinned grapefruit - all the talk of grapefruit yesterday made me fruitfully rummage in the cupboard Grin
L: sourdough crackers and super green soup (chilli, broccoli, kale and peas cooked in stock and coconut milk before being whizzed up)
D: big salad and hm pizza with artichokes, jalapeños, capers, olives and hm mozzarella
S: dates, some mouthfuls of an experimental brownie recipe and lots of caramel and chocolate chip digestives

ppeatfruit · 06/09/2020 13:30

Wow that's fantastic!!! Well done!!! Have you always been a vegan or did you lose the weight when you became one?

cricketmum84 · 06/09/2020 13:43

@ppeatfruit so I went vegetarian in March 19 - I think the total change in diet has been a contributing factor alongside keeping my calorie intake lower than before. I try to eat WFPB rather than using too many meat subs that aren't as healthy.

Me and DD(11) are learning to become vegan, I'm pretty much there now and have been for about 3 months but she still loves cheese and we haven't found a vegan variety that she likes.

I think I need to up the exercise now. Booked my first yoga session tomorrow now our local lockdown has been lifted to allow gyms to reopen! Feeling a bit nervous though as I will easily be the biggest one there...

ppeatfruit · 06/09/2020 13:58

I can recommend a great book for stretches (do it yourself yoga type Chines/Japanese exercises) for all health problems too. It's called 'The Complete System of Self Healing Internal Exercises' By Dr. Stephen T. Chang. Amazon have it I think.

I use it nearly every day and have got my figure back ! It has it's bizzarre side but it's worth while getting.! You are very unlikely to be the largest person at the yoga class Grin. Good luck with it.

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 06/09/2020 14:46

@ppeatfruit and @cricketmum84 that weight loss is fantastic - well done you!!

ppeatfruit · 06/09/2020 15:32

Thanks IJumped but my weight just sort of crept on , also took longer to lose and is no way as spectacular as cricket's !

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 06/09/2020 16:43

@ppeatfruit yeah I’ve felt it very gradually creeping on so paying more attention again. Not much but if I don’t nip it in the bud now and put on 5-7lbs a year that quickly becomes a lot!

Submariner · 06/09/2020 18:49

Today
B: Banana pancakes
L: Repeat of yesterday's tofu rice bowl thing
D: Waitrose Italian swirl sausage, pasta with tomato sauce
S: Dorset apple cake, soy broad beans, wine, ciabatta and olive tapenade, two poppy seed crackers. (Sundays are always foodie days!)

cricketmum84 · 06/09/2020 22:23

Thank you @ppeatfruit and @IJumpedAboardAPirateShip it's been a long hard slog but I'm starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel now!

IJumpedAboardAPirateShip · 07/09/2020 03:26

Had friends over for Sunday lunch, cooked a chook for them and I marinated tofu for ages and then grilled it and it was pretty good. We had Bombay mix to nibble on before (and after) with gin and tonics, then with Main we had roast potatoes, roast carrots, roast onions and steamed broccoli then non-v brownies came out for everyone else and an attempt at vegan banoffee pie which wasn’t awful 😆

I’ve been picking all afternoon on the rest and drinking wine but I’m counting it as one meal 😉
