I'll pop a link in the old one so you know where to find safe haven. I have tried to clear out some space by getting rid of the ohp and vcr trolley and gin is hidden behind the sick sand bucket.

🤮gin....

HarrietDVane · 07/02/2021 18:39

I hate the bloody Fail. I'm currently living in fear of our HT offering to stay open over half term for the KW group Sad If they try to pinch my summer as well I will be furious.

Sureitwillbegrand · 07/02/2021 18:56

Hendricks and cucumber is so nice, really changes the flavour.

Ps: I have my summer holidays already booked Wink they're not getting my time.

JanFebAnyMonth · 07/02/2021 18:57

Just thinking, we haven't seen Staff for a while have we, think she only popped in to start the last thread?

TheHoneyBadger · 07/02/2021 19:49

Cucumber is lovely in gin and tonic. Heathens.

Ds insisted on opening the bottle of nosecco that has been in the fridge in preparation for a visit from my bubble friend who has given up alcohol.

He had one glass and proclaimed meh so ironically I am now using it as a mixer with my gin because I'm nearly out of tonic.

I glanced at the longer school days thread earlier but honestly it's so ridiculous and il thought out and massively unlikely to happen that I didn't bother responding.

It's like the ridiculous lft instead of isolation bollocks. There's just no way and it's not worth using energy on. Staff, kids and parents would have zero appetite for it and the government would be way too cheap to pay for it.

I love how conformist teachers are. I suspect any other group would create a new thread in the absence of the usual thread starter but us? No way.

You don't take paper clips unless the head of paper clips is present and gives you permission.

I'm not disagreeing. I even felt a bit rebellious and bad when I set up the broom cupboard

Will we send out a bat signal?
@Staffdontblowitnow we are missing you!

MsAwesomeDragon · 07/02/2021 20:53

Teachers are very conformist and compliant in general, aren't we? We might moan about stuff we're expected to do, but we go right ahead and do it anyway.

MrsHamlet · 07/02/2021 20:53

Yep. Which is why we get trampled.

RandomGrammarPun · 07/02/2021 21:08

Literally true.

A new diktat comes out from govt/SLT/HoD, whomever.

We roll our eyes and then immediately start planning how to get on and do it.

ChloeDecker · 07/02/2021 21:26

Exactly this. We always do it. And still get very little respect on the whole for it!

Very proud of you all sticking up for all of us!

Just started watching right now, a new (for me) series on Netflix called Cobra Kai. It’s a spin off of the Karate Kid 30 years on. Getting very nostalgic. It’s great fun!

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 07/02/2021 21:38

That's why I will never regret putting in the Section 44 letter at Christmas. I felt that was our stamp foot moment - just NO. And while we had to go about it in a way that was about ourselves, and that might have been true in some cases, it was also about schools really not being a safe part of a community. I genuinely think we saved thousands of lives.

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 07/02/2021 21:46

Oh gosh we are so compliant, and I'm at the less compliant end of the scale.

TheHoneyBadger · 07/02/2021 22:28

I'd say I'm way left field of the compliant core but still compliant. It's actually amusing that people think we're radical lefties skiving away. We crack on and implement whatever shot is prescribed at least superficially. In subtle levels we still subvert but definitely subtle

Greetings comrades, have just unwisely stepped over to the main boards. Am expecting to be called a liar in under an hour ( in first lockdown I posted something under a different username about the DS who is a medic who had been graduated early and sent off to the covid wards in the provinces and was called a liar by several 😳)

This is so true! And yet we are portrayed in the media as militant, workshy skivers with a leftie agenda. In fact we grumble a bit amongst ourselves and crack on with whatever madness the whims of government send our way. Although I am a bit of a leftie.
JanFebAnyMonth · 07/02/2021 22:50

Although I am a bit of a leftie.

I think you may be in good company on these threads, Harriet.....

HarrietDVane · 07/02/2021 23:00

Well, thank goodness - I suspected I might be among friends

noblegiraffe · 07/02/2021 23:02

Jan is noting who among us is a ‘leftie’ 👀

In her DfE-branded notebook I expect...Wink

JanFebAnyMonth · 07/02/2021 23:03

GrinGrinGrinGrin

MsAwesomeDragon · 07/02/2021 23:04

I'm a bit of a lefty too. But I'm also a bit of a sucker for a good sob story, so feel guilty when I refuse to do something "for the kids". Which is crap, because there's loads we should be saying no to. But when I know it's someone else's job but they are unlikely to do it, I step up more often than not. Generally invisibly and unthanked as well, because that's the way it is with all the little extras we do in teaching.

noblegiraffe · 07/02/2021 23:12

One ResearchEd I went to a session that was something about politics in the classroom but turned out to be this bloke moaning how difficult it was to be a Tory teacher and how his views led to him being shunned in the staffroom.

Anyway, it was pretty clear that what led to him being shunned in the staffroom was that he was a total prick.

He went on to stand for the Brexit Party and has recently been hanging out with Laurence Fox, that twatty actor. Trying to make a name for himself as a bit of a Katie Hopkins type.

Calvin Robinson. Urgh.

borntobequiet · 07/02/2021 23:22

Well I emailed my resignation this evening - notice period is 2 months.
Hoping that after a bit of a break, vaccination (and booster), there will be some supply work going in the latter half of the Summer term/start of Autumn term. There’s always tutoring, but actually I prefer being “in work”.

Beachhuts90 · 07/02/2021 23:23

Ugh. Anyone who is friends with Laurence Fox is a prick.

JanFebAnyMonth · 07/02/2021 23:32

oh wow born! Do you feel at peace with the decision?
