You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Gosh time, that's unkind of her and utterly frustrating for you. I hope she sorts herself out and stops bothering you. Definitely pass on your concerns so someone else has a record.

Shit. Not sure how I'll manage if DC are at home, the work pressure is huge.

Loshad · 09/01/2021 21:31

Thanks Staff, we have had a parent and child teaching at the same time too, and one of our science technicians was taught by several department members.
We have quite a few husband wife partners but all in different departments, those whose partners teach the same subject all are at other schools.

How new is this? Is this what came out a day or so ago-saying ‘keep your child at home if you can?’
cantkeepawayforever · 09/01/2021 21:34

Think so, Appu. It mentions Friday night. No change in eligibility, very small tweak in tone IIRC.

JanuaryChill · 09/01/2021 21:43

At least good that the press is publicising it I suppose and will support those Heads who are actually trying to limit numbers.

datoon · 09/01/2021 21:48

I've name changed for this as it's very outing, but a member of our SLT was having a relationship with a parent and a teacher at the same time. Child of the parent was in the teacher's class!

Ulelia · 09/01/2021 21:52

@datoon ShockShockShock

I just came back to this thread to say: @herc you shouting 'burn the witch' on the hilarious thread in AIBU made me snort coca cola down my nose. Thank you! Grin

That's shocking!! At my first school, many years ago, the head of science was shagging one of the science technicians, who was married to one of the other science teachers. That got very, very messy when they were caught together in the prep room.
MrsHamlet · 09/01/2021 21:55

I feel like there's not enough time in the day for shagging in prep rooms these days. Not that there's anyone shaggable anyway.

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 09/01/2021 21:56

datoon Shock Better than Eastenders that. Every secondary I've worked in has been rife with affairs. My latest one not so much affairs but lots of liaisons between younger staff and one offs between married oldies.

Uliea I was just quoting rule further up thread with the burn the witch comment, I can't take the credit myself. That thread is hilarious (don't want to make this a TAAT).

Ulelia · 09/01/2021 22:01

Oops sorry @rule you're both very funny!

HarrietDVane · 09/01/2021 22:06

Shock at all these stories of lust and romance in secondary! Either I've been completely oblivious or it isn't quite so rife in primary Grin

This probably is outing but the learning mentor I had a thing with in my twenties, well turns out he was shagging the dinner lady and the head teacher. I didn't find out the latter until a few years after I left. She once asked me about him and that became clear. Wish I had known. Can laugh about it 15 years on.

I think he was sacked in the end

starrynight19 · 09/01/2021 22:25

Yeah all my stories are from secondary not primary

Mustnotbeidentifiable · 09/01/2021 22:35

Hi new here but ready to share my story
Deputy head male, married to X who taught at another school in the town and also has kids in his school
Heads PA female married with
Deputy has very public and over the to affair with heads pa ( think seen shagging behind blinds in his office, disappearing during trust multi school training days and reappearing simultaneously with their just shagged faces on. All the kids know.
Deputy complains to teachers at their school that their kids grades are dropping, wtf 😳
Deputy “sacked” aka chooses to relocate elsewhere in europe.
We all thought that was it, then four years later ex deputy spotted in local hospital in the urology unit, he has kidney failure and heads PA ( still a couple) has donated him one of hers !
Could not make it up.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 09/01/2021 22:37

Male primary teachers are wet*

Even if wet they somehow start their careers with the aim of being a head. Why do you become a teacher to be a head teacher? That makes no sense to me at all. Go and be a middle manager in private sector and have a much easier life/get paid shed loads more**

*gross but not inaccurate generalisation
**personal experience may have informed this comment

NameymcnameC · 09/01/2021 23:01

I've had to name change for this but that previous HT comment reminded me of a trainee. He'd previously had a high flying career and came later to secondary teaching. After his week long primary placement "I'd nail being a primary head" and "that's my aim now, get there ASAP".
He is no longer teaching.

I can also share the secondary school lesbian affair that got caught on CCTV. HOD and NQT caught at it by the business manager. HOD left at the end of the year. Both women married to men and have stayed with their husbands (when I last heard).

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 09/01/2021 23:12

Did your female PE teachers used to get in those 'run the gauntlet' style showers with you after the lesson? Especially end of day ones?

The memory of those awful showers has just popped into my head, then I remembered named PE teachers. How fucking weird!

How do PE showers happen in secondary schools now?

ItsIgginningtolookalotlikeXmas · 09/01/2021 23:16

I don't think ours wash, I don't think there's even time for it

DrMadelineMaxwell · 09/01/2021 23:34

Our head IT support guy is an ex pupil that I taught. Bless him - still looks 15 and won't call me by my first name.

We have a couple who work in our primary who are married. She works in foundation and he in KS2.

At my DD's high school there was a parent and child both teaching. And, confusingly, a pair of nearly identical looking twins. Both who went by the same surname although one was a Miss and one a Mrs (didn't change her surname on marriage but did adopt the Mrs title.)

MrsHamlet · 09/01/2021 23:56

Ours definitely don't wash after PE.

WhenSheWasBad · 10/01/2021 00:08

Oh god I remember the run the gauntlet showers. Horrible experience.

It funny hearing about all the affairs, I can’t imagine anything less erotic than the prep room.

Massive thanks to MrsH for the Teams advice, so useful.

TrashedWarrior · 10/01/2021 06:41

It said primary schools would start to get home testing kits for staff shortly to test people on a weekly basis, while "secondary schools and colleges have set up test sites, and have started testing staff and students present on site during the lockdown".

Probably by Easter I reckon 🤔
