You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention
@Monkeytennis97 I note in the guidance you can still visit care homes, I hope this covers your DS?
I doubt it (wasn't able to see him in November lockdown) but will try again. Thanks Noble x

No sign of the data that they had to present to the NAHT today then showing how schools were safe.

Now they are vectors of transmission.

Cracklefraggle · 04/01/2021 21:23

Nothing from school yet but am in anyway as agreed to do lessons with KW kids.

Teams with 11 and 13 tomorrow - keep on I suppose.

noblegiraffe · 04/01/2021 21:24

Fingers and toes and everything crossed for you Monkey xxx

Monkeytennis97 · 04/01/2021 21:24

@noblegiraffe thank you xx

Saucery · 04/01/2021 21:25

In to sort stuff out, which is fine, feel perfectly safe doing that with a mask on and sd, which SLT are shit hot on us doing and is actually doable with no kids in!

PumpkinPie2016 · 04/01/2021 21:26

@Monkeytennis97 I have everything crossed for you that you can see your DS Flowers

Waiting to hear from the head here. Can't go to bed until I know what is happening tomorrow. May well be as it was today but won't know for sure until she sends details.

One of my colleagues is fret thing about y11 and what to do. Apparently I'm mad to just keep going... but until someone says what's instead, that seems like the obvious thing to do.
MrsHamlet · 04/01/2021 21:26

Fretting

Monkeytennis97 · 04/01/2021 21:29

I spent most of today planning my year 11 lesson... my subject is not one of the 'important'😂 ones so looks like that was a waste of time!

chocolateisavegetable · 04/01/2021 21:29

All staff in tomorrow so we can plan next steps. Primary - so probably working out rotas for KW & vulnerable children.

Monkeytennis97 · 04/01/2021 21:29

@PumpkinPie2016 thank you x

ItsIgginningtolookalotlikeXmas · 04/01/2021 21:31

It is ridiculous you are being asked to do anything in person that can be done remotely.

Timeturnerplease · 04/01/2021 21:31

Holy ballsacks that was one hell of a U turn.

Really really feeling for staff who didn’t have today as INSET to prep for this. I’ve only just finished filming and uploading for the week and have been at it all day. Imagine starting now...

I agree.

ChloeDecker · 04/01/2021 21:34

Just got out school email (many SLT deserve medals ) and what we had planned for this week is still going ahead and then we have time to prepare from next week etc.

Oh. This is tough.

Stay safe everyone

Timeturnerplease · 04/01/2021 21:34

An NHS nurse friend of mine just messaged; her son’s primary announced today that they’re going online tomorrow and to message them by 5pm to apply for KW place. She was on a long shift so missed email (single parent). She’d qualify in our school even after missing ‘deadline’, I’m assuming that will be the same everywhere?

MrsHamlet · 04/01/2021 21:39

Blimey. Teachers to work from home unless they prefer to be in school. Support staff and PE to go in tomorrow.

MrsHerculePoirot · 04/01/2021 21:40

@Timeturnerplease should be we would here. Any problem she should go through and the LA.

RandomGrammarPun · 04/01/2021 21:41

Gosh, I'd hope so. Front line NHS and carers (and other emergency services) should be prioritised above all others, surely? I mean, as tough as it is for individuals with bills to pay, even supermarket staff are replaceable for shifts by others with no commitments. If we're talking national priorities, I mean.

Mrsbrownsgargoyle · 04/01/2021 21:43

To the PP who asked, YR NOT in.

JanuaryChill · 04/01/2021 21:44

UNISON have posted on Fb:

The Prime Minister's statement tonight shows that we were right to advise members that they should not go into schools this week. However we cannot understand why this does not include early years settings and will be pursuing this with the government tomorrow.

MsAwesomeDragon · 04/01/2021 21:46

I'm sending out my videos that I recorded today for year 11. We'll carry on as normal until we hear details. Of course, my year 11 nurture group won't even look at their emails now, but I'll send them some work anyway.

eitak22 · 04/01/2021 21:47

@Mrsbrownsgargoyle

Thanks for clarifying.

Just heard from HT, were all in tomorrow to organise rotas and remote learning. Will be interesting to see if LSAs are in full time like in June or on the rota like March.

Piggywaspushed · 04/01/2021 21:48

On Twitter :
*There was an all staff meeting of civil servants at the Department of Education today where they were told there was no plans to close schools and no plans to cancel exams.

Hearing there will now be another tomorrow morning, presumably to row back entirely on all of it.*
