You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

I was talking to a friend earlier who works in the hospital. She said the cases in hospital here have doubled in the last week, and she thinks all the ventilators might be in use now. She's not actually on a covid ward, but she said the feeling in the hospital is worse than April. She looked really scared and stressed Sad

Anyone else on the wine tonight? This weekend and today has been SOOO stressful.

noblegiraffe · 04/01/2021 20:58

@Monkeytennis97 I note in the guidance you can still visit care homes, I hope this covers your DS?

Saucery · 04/01/2021 20:59

MsAwesomeDragon · 04/01/2021 20:59

I don't drink, but I have eaten Chinese takeaway and chocolate.

cornercupboard · 04/01/2021 21:00

We've been told to all go in tomorrow to plan, surveys going out to parents tomorrow, emphasised keep children at home unless they absolutely must be in school, staff meeting on zoom at lunchtime.

DH not impressed at having to shield again. Will I have to go in at all, or "work from home" again, I wonder?

Snap 🤣🤣🤣 except I had an apple turnover instead of chocolate
noblegiraffe · 04/01/2021 21:02

Nothing from school saying not to come in so I guess I’ll be in? Not sure what doing apart from going Aaargh to colleagues about exams.

The stay at home order isn’t legal till Wednesday.

@NeurotreeWenceslas

Having said that my English gcse was 100% course work.
Mine too and no Shakespeare
MrsHamlet · 04/01/2021 21:04

No Shakespeare. Sob

noblegiraffe · 04/01/2021 21:06

No large dataset. Yay!

Frlrlrubert · 04/01/2021 21:08

In tomorrow and the only if covering KW. I'm so relieved!

Iamnotthe1 · 04/01/2021 21:08

Do we know for sure that he's including KS2 assessments as part of "end of year exams"? Anyone seen anything?

CarrieBlue · 04/01/2021 21:09

No Shakespeare. Sob

I had a fantastic English teacher who always let me go on trips to Stratford despite me not doing A-level english so not all was lost

NeurotreeWenceslas · 04/01/2021 21:09

I hope nursery staff can wear masks if they wish.

The biggest outbreak I know of was at my son's nursery! I know why they're keeping them in; (safeguarding, impossible to work with a small child at home, I couldn't) it doesn't help keep them safe though. Bloody hope they get vax priority.

We are at work as normal tomorrow (Sen.)

Are YR having to stay open?

Frlrlrubert · 04/01/2021 21:10

Oh no wait, on second reading it's ambiguous whether we have to come in to teach live.
namechangedyetagain · 04/01/2021 21:10

I've messaged my placement school and offered to do whatever is needed as I know there are staff isolating etc. What else can I do as a student?

MrsHamlet · 04/01/2021 21:11

One of my favourite students came on the London A level lit trip and dropped it the week after. He said he'd just wanted one more English trip!

Write your essay 🤣🤣🤣
JanuaryChill · 04/01/2021 21:14

Guidance says Early Years settings open, but I do wonder if they know that involves most primaries.....

namechangedyetagain · 04/01/2021 21:18

Yep there is that, good news is that they've given me an extension so now have until beginning of Feb to submit. But yes, if I'm not in school - no excuses!

I feel completely furious at the short notice they've given tonight. My own children school is closed tomorrow whilst they sort KW places.

Piggywaspushed · 04/01/2021 21:18

The guidance says: In the circumstances, we do not think it is possible for all exams in the summer to go ahead as planned. We will accordingly be working with Ofqual to consult rapidly to put in place alternative arrangements that will allow students to progress fairly.

Beachhuts90 · 04/01/2021 21:18

Well after a day of it being so cold due to open windows that the children all wore their coats all day, tonight's announcement was a relief. We are waiting to hear from SLT about tomorrow. Last time KW kid care was on a rota.

MsAwesomeDragon · 04/01/2021 21:22

Oh I hadn't thought of that, yay!!!!
