You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

I'm only working now because I'm so bored.

We've been to the park/done walks, I have no motivation to do anything crafty or arty or DIYy, this is something useful that will free up some time over the next few weeks.

I'm leaving one whole lot of planning until Monday, and hoping I have actual time to do it.

SansaSnark · 30/12/2020 14:18

@Hercwasonasnowball

piggy would you be able to get a multi user Netflix account or equivalent? Must be a nightmare for you.

I'm doing nothing til Monday. One concern is how do 'live' cover lessons work for covering staff absence? We've fudged it so far for the odd isolating bubble but if 2 members of the dept are off we need a better plan if online learning is for more than a week or so. God I hate the Tories.

We have merged classes for live lessons anyway- as often it's not just a neat class of students which are off.

It's obviously not ideal, but if a staff member is off, I think we would have one teacher deliver a live lesson to both classes.

Guardian does, however, confirm that performing arts students won't be going back to conservatoires / universities as originally planned. A very tiny blow, in the grand scheme of things, but still a bitter personal one.

Piggyinblankets · 30/12/2020 14:21

You can't stream Netflix into others'' homes. Be nice if the exam boards had negotiated copyright laws.

Plus my films aren't on Netflix. Wail.

My SLT literally don't give a shit.

Hercwasonasnowball · 30/12/2020 14:22

Sansa that was my thinking. Will be a car crash timetable wise as nothing really matches but I'm guessing it it what will happen.

Piggyinblankets · 30/12/2020 14:23

The Guardian doesn't mention primary : somewhere else did though. Can't find it. Think that was Scum.

hedgehogger1 · 30/12/2020 14:23

Apparently there's talk of the county being split and half being 4 and half 3. I work in the 4 but where I live doesn't fit neatly into any category

Hercwasonasnowball · 30/12/2020 14:23

Oh piggy, it's just another issue on top of everything else to deal with. Unsupportive SLT isn't helpful either.

SmileEachDay · 30/12/2020 14:25

Piggy

Can you play the video as part of a presentation on Teams, sharing your screen?

Piggyinblankets · 30/12/2020 14:25

No, they're fuckers!!

We have a new (male science, surprise!) Dep head who is very nice but he doesn't stick his head above the parapet.

Yup.

DH has been going out and litter picking by one of the main roads around here and on the fields... he is that bored!

Piggyinblankets · 30/12/2020 14:26

Nope smile copyright software blacks it out....

I sound like one of those difficult pupils, don't I, blocking every helpful suggestion!

Achristmaspudsskidu · 30/12/2020 14:27

Ah, I’ve found it in the Guardian but they mention it as being reported by the Sun, which is a bit of a cop out!

Hmmmm.

Where is video available?

hedgehogger1 · 30/12/2020 14:27

If a test is 40% effective how many times would you have to repeat it to be 95% certain of the results?

NeurotreeWenceslas · 30/12/2020 14:27

I'm only mn now because I'm bored working...

Monkeytennis97 · 30/12/2020 14:28

Yup. Halfway through 2 PowerPoints of stuff I wouldn't normally teach if I could teach normally 😂

SmileEachDay · 30/12/2020 14:29

God. Gove is speaking in HoC.

He’s SUCH an odious little twat.

Monkeytennis97 · 30/12/2020 14:29

Yup sitting here listening to him. TWAT.

Achristmaspudsskidu · 30/12/2020 14:30

What time is Gav due to be wheeled out of the cupboard?

SmileEachDay · 30/12/2020 14:31

He’s so smug and self satisfied and his chin is horrible.

Here’s a question:
Who would you rather shag:

Gove

Or

Gav

😆

Monkeytennis97 · 30/12/2020 14:31

3.30

Piggyinblankets · 30/12/2020 14:31

My one are on Prime and my colleagues on Netflix. YouTube also has blocking software for purchased films as does All4 and iPlayer. Bastards.

CountDuckulasCranberrySauce · 30/12/2020 14:31

Guessing closed next week means keyworkers in though? Who won't want to do any work as everyone else is on holiday?
