You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

That’s fine, as long as school staff sit back and don’t engage with any contact or planning from those organising. We can look forward to a well planned, ready to go testing system in the first week. Or not.

SmileEachDay · 18/12/2020 19:13

Xmas day solo here.

Last minute changing of plan by boychild’s father. Don’t want to mess with anyone else’s bubble arrangements.

Christmas can fuck right off.

ChloeDeckTheHalls · 18/12/2020 19:13

@Achristmaspudsskidu

This just beggars belief!
Figures Hmm
CountDuckulasCranberrySauce · 18/12/2020 19:21

We made it 😊
Although think I might have a sore throat....

Also, predictably half of y7 went today as someone sent their symptomatic child in all week. So that's Christmas fucked for them. I really think there should be some sort of fine, but I guess they just would not fess up.

starrynight19 · 18/12/2020 19:26

Thanks everyone. Same here @namechangedyetagain it’s the worst time of year to be resting when there is so much to be done. When is your isolation up ?

Awful for anyone working in school to test positive now. We have had symptomatic children in this week as they didn’t want to miss Christmas parties / dinners etc.

CarrieBlue · 18/12/2020 19:33

Am I the only one that announcing this testing nonsense is just to deflect from the shitshow of the brexit negotiations? Knocked to second place on the news when there are hours until we’re stuck with no deal 🤷‍♀️

CarrieBlue · 18/12/2020 19:34

Am I the only one thinking....

noelgiraffe · 18/12/2020 19:34

BBC today. 🤦‍♀️

Really sorry to hear that, Smile Flowers

namechangedyetagain · 18/12/2020 19:39

Isolation is up Christmas day. DC are still quite young. I'm feeling awful that I concentrated too much on getting through term and not getting organised for Christmas. Youngest is 7 and will be expecting SantaSad

NeurotreeWenceslas · 18/12/2020 19:52

Gosh so sorry to read how poorly you've been starry, hope you get a good rest over Xmas. Pretty amazing you've been able to go in to work abeight briefly.

Bloody hell how shit for them piggy. I've known more teachers than before get it this term. Some quite ill too.

Wish I had more energy to drink to celebrate the shite term, but it's not worth it.

I've not managed to be on much recently and probably won't much in the spring due to some work projects, but these threads were an absolute life line over the summer and into autumn.

So cheers all WineGin🥃🍷🍾🍹🧉🍸

Name that's awful. Do you have Amazon prime? Happy to help if not!

DecemberStar · 18/12/2020 19:56

Yes @CarrieBlue that had crossed my mind

Shocking!
TheHoneyBadger · 18/12/2020 20:23

Positive test in year 9 today only picked up as the child was part of one of the studies. Not sure how many close contacts that has hit.

I found half a packet of chocolate digestives so I'm alright.

Santa could be so busy that he has to do it in 2 goes, some pressies on Christmas and some to follow name?

DecemberStar · 18/12/2020 20:43

CBBC spreading those positive media messages about mass testing (actually quite interesting to see how the army did it):

noelgiraffe · 18/12/2020 20:53

What are those black postbox things they’re doing the tests in? Is the DT department supposed to be knocking up a few of those for us?

Also, that lab looked huge and well-manned. Where on earth can we put one?

ChloeDeckTheHalls · 18/12/2020 20:59

namechangedyetagain

Sounds very stressful but they will love whatever you can do and be happy you are together. Local Facebook community groups might also be a good source to tap, alongside Amazon Priming the shit out of Christmas!

Put your feet up this evening at least.

Cracklefraggle · 18/12/2020 21:03

Name could you do click n collect and get someone to collect?

MsAwesomeReindeer · 18/12/2020 21:15

Definitely Amazon prime for Christmas. You can get everything on there, and specify a safe place for contactless deliveries. I have bought Christmas from Amazon for a couple of years now Blush, but then I feel guilty for not supporting local businesses

I thought this but then lots of small businesses sell through Amazon as well so that made me feel less guilty.
noelgiraffe · 18/12/2020 21:22

I tried to buy from Argos but despite having a catalogue full of stuff, they couldn’t actually sell any of it to me, either in shop or for delivery. It was bloody annoying.

Wait4nothing · 18/12/2020 21:30

@namechangedyetagain
If you’re anywhere near Mr Straw’s house happy to do shopping for you. Let me know if I can be any help. Also have prime if that helps.

starrynight19 · 18/12/2020 21:36

smileeachday that sounds really tough. I know what you mean about bubble arrangements but it’s probably still worth asking. I would hate to think of any of my friends / family alone on Christmas Day and would want to include them if I could.

namechangedyetagain · 18/12/2020 21:39

Aww y'all. Yes I do have prime. I need to have a good think tomorrow of what is needed. Friends are collecting some food shopping for us at the minute so no one will starve at least. I'm hoping that I'll feel better by the middle of next week.
