You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

The EIS are taking out grievances against individual councils up here to try and force their hand to closing on Friday.

plasticboxesrock · 14/12/2020 20:30

Bloody hell! Hasn't Gav got anything better to do?

Hercwasonaroll · 14/12/2020 20:30

Popping by to laugh at Gav.

It's a bit Cummings and Barnard Castle all over again.

Frlrlrubert · 14/12/2020 20:31

DH pointed out that if Gavlar actually takes them to court they can invoke the H&S at work act, wave a risk assessment, and probably win the day.

That's what I'm hoping for

monkeytennis97 · 14/12/2020 20:36

The date on that letter🤦‍♀️ What a twat.

TheHoneyBadger · 14/12/2020 20:37

Oh I just caught up on the broom closet. That email is shocking Bob! Like my cover manager claiming I could teach despite symptoms in my support bubble. She made out it was the head who'd said it then later emailed making clear the head had not said that and claiming it was a mix up Hmm

hw09aam · 14/12/2020 20:37

Brilliant, the Umbridge references really made me laugh! He really has no clue though does he...

Timeturnerplease · 14/12/2020 20:39

What we need is Albus Dumbledore. And maybe a herd of angry centaurs.

Appuskidu · 14/12/2020 20:41

@monkeytennis97

The date on that letter🤦‍♀️ What a twat.
Well said. What a total and utter twat!
DreamingofBrie · 14/12/2020 20:43

He's totally like Umbridge with his educational decrees! We're listening to it in the car at the moment and just got to the bit when she gets carried off by centaurs. One can only hope...

Thanks for the new thread, Staff. I've got 4 lessons left to teach before we finish. Can't wait.

Augustbreeze · 14/12/2020 20:44

Absolutely timeturner.

Does the date make it illegal? It might.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 14/12/2020 20:45

Just sums up Delores and the DfE if they can't even get the date right

absolute idiot

I thought Friday went badly. Today was worse. Not sure it is Covid related though - just me but dealing with poor behaviour well.
The kids have gone absolutely loopy. I had a gang of year 8s practically feral at breaktime - knocking people's snacks out of hands etc, and I didn't know their names, they wouldn't tell me, and then just bloody ran away!
Then don't get me started on the yr 9s..
However we currently have all isolating groups back, just a handful of staff off (mainly due to their own kids) so I shouldn't complain. But I feel like I don't know whether to rage or cry.

PumpkinPie2016 · 14/12/2020 20:57

Thanks for the new thread staff

That letter Xmas Shock honestly have no words!

I have been rather productive and planned my Y9 lessons for the first week back Xmas Smile hoping to continue in the productive manner for the rest of the week (but may fail miserably!).

I also ended up twitching and buying DS an extra Christmas present Xmas Blush must rein myself in! It's been a crap year - partly because of covid but mostly because my wonderful Nana died in March (not covid)Xmas Sad this will be the first Christmas I have ever had without her Xmas Sad so I may be compensating ever so slightly!

BobsNephew · 14/12/2020 21:00

Dolores is my confirmation name. There. That's me outed!

HarrietDVane · 14/12/2020 21:07

Hello - please may I join you? Long time lurker and generally infrequent MN poster but wanted to pop on for the sake of solidarity. The absolute insanity of this term has nearly broken me (I’m in primary - so comparatively lucky considering the appalling situation in secondaries).

Four days left to stumble through...

Hercwasonaroll · 14/12/2020 21:08

Hi Harriet!

Shitty email from SLT about stuff tonight. FUCK OFF AASAARRRRGHHH (I'll write that here rather than in the reply box!).

CallmeAngelGabriel · 14/12/2020 21:10

Hello @HarrietDVane. I'm primary too (although definitely not the mumsy "speaking in the plural" type).

Want some gin?

BreadSaucery · 14/12/2020 21:12

Hi Harriet , I know where the secret stash of glue sticks is so if you need sorting out....

flumposie · 14/12/2020 21:13

Wow. Things are turning nasty. They do not give a shit about schools.

MrsHerculePoirot · 14/12/2020 21:14

Thanks @StaffAssociationRepresentative

CallmeAngelGabriel · 14/12/2020 21:15

You know, I honestly think that if they'd sat down and thought, "how can we get this virus to ramp up, just in time for Christmas, with even worse to come in January," they could not have done a better job.

And now they're making even bigger tits of themselves by picking fights with Greenwich etc... They should do what we have to do with troublesome kids - pick our battles and de-escalate.
