Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

MNHQ deleted a couple of posts but you can still pretty much read all of it on the 2-3 teachers catching covid thread.

2 hours I had to sit with a child feeling ill with Covid symptoms before parent answered multiple phone calls and voice messages to come and get them. . And by ‘with’ I mean outside the room as I refused to sit inside the room with them in basic PPE. Totally unacceptable to send your child in with symptoms that you are aware of (child told teacher they had felt unwell since last night).

I wish we could close to year 10. They have driven me to the edge this afternoon. I gave out 10 detentions this afternoon (2 separate year 10 classes, both behaving badly). Now I'm supposed to be marking mocks, but I'm not. I refuse to do any work at all for the rest of the day!!

I bet you're glad your dh is safer now he's not got the pupils in piggy.

I've got year 10s on Wednesday. Half of them are out as close contacts so they're independently doing some department decided workbook that the ones at home will also be doing. Sounds good re: no planning but behaviour and engagement likely to be interesting.

I've done my planning for Wednesday but still can't bring myself to mark these year 7 assessments that I've had since Friday.

Just read it-blimey. Not sure how I missed that, it didn’t seem to be in Active. Poor Aragog, that was really shit.

There seems to be a growing noise amongst some people, possibly even just one person-who knows, trying to blame heads/SLT, rather than the government, which I’m finding interesting reading.

It's a common misconception I'd say, that individual heads are responsible for the current dreadful situation. Often seen on the PUAUS page.

Difficult, because of course attitudes to Covid amongst Heads, just as elsewhere, vary widely.

But also that thing many paranoia sufferers and conspiracy theorists always do of presuming negative events are all the result of individual malignant actions rather than a combination of incompetence and shit systems.

I've been teaching over 30 years and I don't think I've ever come across a "lazy" head. Some I don't agree with, yes, but none of them has been anything but hard-working.
And now? I wouldn't wish what they've been trying to deal with for the last 9 months on ANYONE even some of our detractor mates.
