You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

There's some weird stuff in that thread - schools who are just getting children to read and only doing social stuff. I mean, that's NOT a thing. Ofsted wouldn't let that happen for a start.

TheHoneyBadger · 07/12/2020 18:03

Also again with the lies about working in an independent then in a state school. Like the one who was somehow working on a Covid ward whilst on maternity leave from school. Very vocal posters who are clearly full of shit but being allowed to keep on reincarnating with name changes.

I'm having a glass of wine and making a pasta bake. Cupboards are seriously bare. An isolating 13yo can eat it's way through everything. Shopping delivery coming tomorrow. And then I must do my marking.

Haha two threads deleted in an hour.

One hoping to stir up some teacher bashing, and one pretending to be a campaign to close schools.

Piggywaspushed · 07/12/2020 18:13

Seems so, dangling !

DollyMixtureLulus · 07/12/2020 18:15

I had all 5 of my tricky fish off today.

It was only half lovely because I'm concerned that a whole friendship group haven't appeared when they have frustratingly good attendance otherwise.

I also had pizza from the lovely restaurant along from my flat, because I'm supporting a family business and I have planned out term 3. I've not been eating much lately so this is good- I also had breakfast this morning!

Yup!

Lily at MN seems to be quick off the mark though-I’m impressed!

monkeytennis97 · 07/12/2020 18:19

Evening all, got in ridiculously early to prep a classroom for a lesson today (putting out all sorts of equipment for each student) class were generally not appreciative and I let them know it. Cold and tired here. Had a lovely class in the afternoon that made up for it though. Reports and loads of other paperwork being pushed downwards. Argh.

CallmeAngelina · 07/12/2020 18:27

I wasn't in school today but we have had to move classroom for the week, due to building works (Yay for isolating year group vacating their room, so we don't have to teach in the gym!). According to my job-share partner, this seriously upset our little chap with ASD, who just couldn't cope (even though I did all the prep with him last week). She's had a bit of a day!
Hopefully, calm waters will prevail tomorrow, upon my return.

Augustbreeze · 07/12/2020 18:29

Yeah that "all our last primary did was socialise them and ensure the really weak ones reached a minimum reading level" post on that thread seemed just a touch Hmm

Augustbreeze · 07/12/2020 18:31

Course they will Ange: you're calmness personified, ain'tcha these days ?

Appuskidu · 07/12/2020 18:33

Is that another one over on chat?!

MrsHerculePoirot · 07/12/2020 18:33

Hi everyone! My mum is home 🎉

A friends school has just shut today and is going remote for last week due to so many cases all of a sudden... a local primary just had to close to both y6 classes as a positive parent sent in their child who was then also positive. I am avoiding everyone I can...

Appuskidu · 07/12/2020 18:37

Deleted already!
TheHoneyBadger · 07/12/2020 18:38

Very 🧐 Wouldn't survive ofsted or produce even vaguely ok sats scores if that was true. Though it could truly be an outsiders perspective.

Tmi but today I've had my period arrive early, have had to force a crying son to go back to school and had a ridiculous lesson because the hod said she wanted us to do a new lesson she'd planned instead of the way it was already planned. I'm ahead so was the first to see how truly shit it was and how it relied on knowledge they didn't have, resources that didn't exist or that I and another colleague couldn't find anywhere and had tasks that once undertaken clearly aren't doable as the questions don't match the sources etc.

In future emails of last minute changes written by someone has not taught them themselves will be ignored.

Honestly I sometimes miss the days of writing and resourcing my own schemes of work.

TheHoneyBadger · 07/12/2020 18:41

Pleased your mum is home hp. Sorry cross posted real news with my mundane moaning

CallmeAngelina · 07/12/2020 18:48

I am Zen personified.
CallmeAngelina · 07/12/2020 18:52

At least, I was Zen, but my two have just got out the old Sing Star stuff and there is awful caterwauling wafting up the stairs...
DS is currently doing an awful rendition of "It's raining men!" Shock

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 07/12/2020 18:57

We are all avoiding each other too. Just did a 3 hour moderation meeting remotely - even though we are in shouting distance of each other.

My classroom was an icebox today. Tomorrow the thermals are coming out.

CallmeAngelina · 07/12/2020 18:59

From 11th onwards, I will be wrapped in a HazMat suit.
I am NOT having my Christmas ruined.

CallmeAngelina · 07/12/2020 19:00

Oh, bloody hell, now we have Bonnie Tyler. He keeps having to switch octaves.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 07/12/2020 19:01

I went in, found it much harder to be back (after losing MIL Fri) and was sent home. I'm off for a couple of days and will reassess Wed. Soooo many phone calls and decisions to be made with DH and his siblings today that I was glad to be off. Plus I cried at work. Which I NEVER do.

Grrrrr.

MrsHamlet · 07/12/2020 19:02

Is he holding out for a hero?

monkeytennis97 · 07/12/2020 19:05

@MrsHerculePoirot wonderful news! Xx

CallmeAngelina · 07/12/2020 19:07

@MrsHamlet

Is he holding out for a hero?
No, he's having a total eclipse of the heart. Grin
MrsHamlet · 07/12/2020 19:19

Can we put in requests?!
