You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Right. I need to get this essay cracked. Send reflection theory vibes my way. I think if I can be done by lunch I will treat myself to an hour outside planting some bulbs (behind on that as well). Q

What do you need to reflect on and how many words? Can you annotate plans or is it only an essay? Sending reflective vibes your way.

Already got that Sunday feeling but going to put up our Christmas tree and have a roast to keep it in check.

It's reflecting on a series of lessons we've done. If I can get it done by lunch I've decided I'm rewarding myself with an afternoon gin and tonic.

Sureitwillbegrand · 06/12/2020 10:28

Fantastic news monkey.

Reflective vibes coming your way.

Chilling here, had a busy Saturday. All planned for Monday thankfully just emails and data drop to do later 🙄. I am stepping down this year and am so looking forward to being a teacher again!

Just us and the kids this year for Xmas. No parents and no in-laws- both dc are coming home for Christmas. May meet up for a walk between Boxing Day and new year but that’s it. We will meet up in Spring when it lighter and we are more likely to be able to sit outdoors.

I am looking forward to not buying bread sauce !

I stepped down a couple of years ago and haven’t looked back since - no more never-ending meetings or daily duties. I can nod during INSET. I basically bat anything tricky back to HoD or HoY or SLT. Happy days

Great news monkey.

Good incentive name!

Really happy for you monkey.

My sister is back in the country and we've been weighing up isolation and testing plans to be able to spend Christmas together.

If ds and I isolate from end of last day of school and then have a private test 5 days later (so Wednesday afternoon) we should get results in time. If negative test and no symptoms by Christmas Eve we reckon that's pretty safe.

I wish they'd had the sense to close schools a week early but I'm past expecting sense to be honest.

Still haven't found motivation to clean downstairs and get the decorations out of the attic and still ignoring my marking. Have done my annual Aldi wine, fizz and port order and have sorted what ds is getting from his aunty and GPs and that's it Christmas wise.

BreadSaucery · 06/12/2020 11:25

So pleased for you, monkey! Have a fabulous time with your DS. X

@IfoundGavin, what if you actually are Gavin? Should we shun you on this thread??

IfoundGavin · 06/12/2020 12:42

Xmas Wink Xmas Grin

Mistressiggi · 06/12/2020 12:54

Can I ask a wee question, when do most schools in England finish up for Christmas? Is it a week before, as I've seen mentioned on another thread? Or maybe you all have different dates in different areas.

monkeytennis97 · 06/12/2020 12:56

18th December
