You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

18th here too.

Fab news Monkey, have a lovely day.

MsAwesomeDragon · 06/12/2020 13:04

Have a great day with your ds monkey I'm so happy you're getting to see him at last!!

Name how are you getting on with your reflection? Is it g&t time yet?

Iggi 18th December for us. It means I won't be able to see my vulnerable parents at Christmas, but we can isolate long enough to see them at New year (which is my dad's birthday so we normally see them then anyway). I don't know if we'll be able to see mil as well, she's in Scotland so the rules are different, but we might manage that as well before the end of the holiday 🤞

18th here to.

Great news monkey enjoy 🎉

CallmeAngelina · 06/12/2020 13:17

18th here (SE Home Counties)

CallmeAngelina · 06/12/2020 13:21

@noblegiraffe, Your "safer" schools thread is just about full now. Well done.

Mistressiggi · 06/12/2020 13:22

Thanks for the info, it's the 22nd where I am which is a bit pants. (On top of all the other pants stuff. It's been a year of pants-ness really)

eitak22 · 06/12/2020 13:26

@Mistressiggi

Can I ask a wee question, when do most schools in England finish up for Christmas? Is it a week before, as I've seen mentioned on another thread? Or maybe you all have different dates in different areas.
18th where I am.
namechangedyetagain · 06/12/2020 13:40

In our area we finish on the 18th . It's usually around that Friday so no different for covid this year.

Augustbreeze · 06/12/2020 13:49

Blooming heck that thread about the school with 66 positive students and it's still open. And another poster saying they've got 66 plus 14 staff, also still open!

Good work noble and others . The superspreader thing needs to be explained a lot more, as it's one of the main reasons why people should neither be "making their own risk assessments" based on personal experience, nor saying "schools are safe" based purely on the one or two schools they know well.

CallmeAngelina · 06/12/2020 14:14

Surely the data must be being collated somewhere re: how many school staff are being infected, as I've heard that it's one of the questions you're now asked when booking a test?

There are actually some schools threads now that I didn't start Shock

Did you all spot the Us4Them thread last night about how schools can't be safe so need to be closed?

I get the impression that U4T can no longer even remotely complain that I'm campaigning to close schools so they decided to do it themselves so they had something to argue against. Such a shame it got deleted, it was lovely seeing them being called out.

I expect they were collecting it in the hope that it would show that school staff are in fact not dropping like flies.

Except when it didn't they put it in a box, wrapped it in chains, dropped it down a deep well and published that fiddled ONS data instead.

CallmeAngelina · 06/12/2020 14:54

No, I missed that one I think, thankfully. It good for my blood pressure.
Do U4T people name-change often? You can just spot them by the party line they spout?

Appuskidu · 06/12/2020 14:55

Yep! Amuses me when posters don’t bother to name change but start posts with opposing views to themselves two days later!

noblegiraffe · 06/12/2020 14:55

No, it was the same U4T poster who posted the obvious U4T threads without a name change. I'm not sure why exactly they thought that people wouldn't notice.

PumpkinPie2016 · 06/12/2020 14:58

Fab news @monkeytennis97 - have a lovely time!

We finish on the 18th too. Two weeks to go and a lot to get through in that time!

I have put my Christmas tree up this weekend, managed to get my eyebrows waxed and ordered some of DS presents so all in all quite chuffed.

Planning now!

Keepdistance · 06/12/2020 15:22

Amazing monkey! Enjoy it!

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 06/12/2020 15:34

18th here.

DreamingofBrie · 06/12/2020 15:38

Just popping on to say @monkeytennis97, lovely lovely news that your ds is home! Enjoy every minute of it.

Only 5 teaching days left for me, but am starting to feel a bit desperate. 4 period day tomorrow and an observed lesson with SLT in the morning. Somehow the work has gotten on top of me and I find myself with 3 lessons left to prepare for tomorrow, and a tonne of marking as well. Wednesday is a bit of a lull but then have 5 periods on Friday followed by 5 periods on Monday. So still feels like a mountain to climb before we get to Christmas!

Augustbreeze · 06/12/2020 16:01

18th here too, but am sure there are some that don't finish until ?22nd.

Halifaxgirl · 06/12/2020 16:22

My school are sending out attendance letters .

WhyNotMe40 · 06/12/2020 16:42

Oh good grief I need to not respond to a poster moaning about teachers moaning...
