I was a bit worried about @StaffAssociationRepresentative but she posted on this thread at 8am today, saying that she was busy. Did an advance search and seems to be nothing deletion worthy on posts in the past 5 days! Hope you've got your cover sorted, Staff.

@MsAwesomeDragon, I had a wonderful friend who left our university in the first term, due to depression. He started again the next year in a different university and absolutely thrived, did well academically, on the student union etc. Ended up going back to work at the university a few years after he graduated. Depression had stayed with him since the first episode in our late teens. He passed away suddenly and unexpectedly a few years ago, but I'll always remember how happy he had been in his last communication with me - loving his job, just bought a new house, comfortable and happy in his own skin. My very best wishes to your dd Flowers.

Did my first in class/Teams lesson today. Think I've figured out an improvement for the next lesson. I've bought a bluetooth headset/mic and going to join both on my phone and desktop. Allow the audio from my phone and just use the desktop to screenshare. Today they could see my whiteboard, but because we were using another pupil's iPad to listen in on the meeting, the sound was a bit dodgy when I was moving around the room.

Augustbreeze · 25/11/2020 17:57

Think of the space we'll have when we move back to the Staffroom. We'll almost be able to socially distance......

Heard more today about PH advice upon which many colleagues were sent off to isolate on Sunday, relating to the degree of contact with one member of staff who turned out to be positive.

Weird definitions of close contact: people who had a 5 min masked chat at a distance in the car park, sent home. Others helping with computer problems, not. Unless it's all Chinese whispers.

noblegiraffe · 25/11/2020 18:00

I don’t think any member of staff with covid has caused anyone to have to isolate at my school, staff or student. Whether they should have is up for discussion.

Saucery · 25/11/2020 18:00

I had a colleague come up to me today in the staffroom and tell me she was off yesterday because of an intense headache, extreme tiredness and nausea. She didn’t take a test because her DH said he “doesn’t have time for any more of that shit” (meaning having to take his their dc to school again). I was a bit curt with her and stepped a good 3m away. I am through with stupid people.

Piggywaspushed · 25/11/2020 18:08

But is she was self isolating they wouldn't go to school ??

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 25/11/2020 18:08

Two staff members in our school now, so another bubble closed. Children aren't getting tested. The staff have no contact with each other - like completely none.

Two in 2 days might result in mass testing apparently because cases are on the rise in our city.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 25/11/2020 18:09

Meanwhile, staff are falling apart. Dealt with a lot of tears today.

plasticboxesrock · 25/11/2020 18:12

The child I sent home coughing was back in today. I saw the back of his head emerging from breakfast club. I was cross! Pointed out to the office staff who promptly got his taken home and sent for a test.

FFS.

Piggywaspushed · 25/11/2020 18:14

I have a year 11 boy who ahs been off all week 'with a very sore throat' : i queried follow up today with attendance : she ignored me.

ChloeDecker · 25/11/2020 18:16

I’m mid way teaching a class today and SLT come in and ask them to pack up their stuff and ‘come with them’. Then wisked out of the room and I’m still left there none the wiser. Only later when I check Teams, are they all X. No staff email and no one ask me if I have been 2m away from them or not.
That’s self isolating children in 4 year groups now!
DH has a teacher in his school, who has tested positive and taken out the entire lot of Form Tutors of their year group, with them...

noblegiraffe · 25/11/2020 18:17

I sent a coughing kid home from our worst affected year group and their test came back negative so it is sometimes just a cough! The kids around them who had been planning on spending their isolation time playing FIFA were very disappointed.

ChloeDecker · 25/11/2020 18:18

That should be ‘check SIMs’ not Teams! I have Teams on the brain obvs.

CallmeAngelina · 25/11/2020 18:18

What do I do about the child in my class who is tagged on SIMs as being off with a tummy upset? I mean, I'm glad his mother is keeping him off, but if he turns up at the door tomorrow? I just assume it's run-of-the-mill?

noblegiraffe · 25/11/2020 18:21

I’ve had loads off in the worst year group with sickness. It’s not a ‘covid symptom’ so what can you do?

Some councils in high infection areas are now saying to test for the wider symptoms but not round my way.

Piggywaspushed · 25/11/2020 18:21

Not an official symptom even though we all know it is so nowt you can do.

ChloeDecker · 25/11/2020 18:21

We have a lot of those too. Very worrying.
plasticboxesrock · 25/11/2020 18:22

noble I will be delighted if it is just a cough. I was just annoyed that he turned up this morning without parents having done the correct thing and take him for a test first.

Saucery · 25/11/2020 18:24

@Piggywaspushed

But is she was self isolating they wouldn't go to school ??
They did last time. 🙄 I don’t have any patience left for people like that. Zero.
Appuskidu · 25/11/2020 18:29

Wow-I am so cross about that DfE comment! Nice to mnhq to put it right at the end of a thread as well so none of us can bloody reply to it!!

How bloody DARE they?!

Augustbreeze · 25/11/2020 18:33

It is really weird isn't it? I'd like to see a policy statement from @mnhq about posting government interventions.

Mistressiggi · 25/11/2020 18:38

Yes I really don't understand the need for it. Nothing wrong with them registering an account and posting on the thread (when we would then have a few questions!) it's not like she-who-must-not-be-named, the government aren't going to sue MN for defamation.

Which thread are you talking about, Appu?

Found it.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 25/11/2020 19:05

I've had a child off for a week. She's a KW kid who was in every day during lockdown. Weird.
