My first pupil told to SI by T&T was a KW (both parents) who was in every day too.

@noblegiraffe your road trip could be the next Hollywood blockbuster!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 14/12/2020 18:54

Drive it down here first. I need a test. Sad

CallmeAngelGabriel · 14/12/2020 19:07

So, can anyone tell me, if half our catchment is now Tier 3, does that increase yet further my chances of contracting this bloody virus in the next few days?

Yep. Most cases = more infection around.

DP has had a meeting this evening about the new strain of the virus. Not so much a distraction technique as mentioned on thread but linked to travel taken by people (first seen in places like Spain).

Have been watching 'hospital' on BBC. Doesn't sound promising for the NHS if / when wave three hits.

HerdyGerdy · 14/12/2020 19:12

I meant to say: More cases = more infection around. Reduced chance to escape.

I'm so tired.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 14/12/2020 19:14

Wave 2 hasn’t finished yet. I don’t think you can call it wave 3 unless you’ve actually dealt with wave 2. And getting cases down to13000 new cases a day before they start climbing again doesn’t really count as dealing with it IMO.

Appuskidu · 14/12/2020 19:15

Well, I now have 3/3 of my kids isolating, so that sorted my dilemma of yesterday out! Secondaries here are dropping like flies.

ChloeDecker · 14/12/2020 19:21

Appuskidu I’m sorry they have all had to self isolate. Hope you all get to stay safe.

CallmeAngelGabriel · 14/12/2020 19:27

Right, and yet at my school it's business as usual.

Have received an email from school saying that it's our responsibility to stay healthy and that we should not take time off as this pressurises our colleagues. WTF?

eitak22 · 14/12/2020 19:31

Urgh! why did I watch the briefing, being reminded how much more risk I'll be after Christmas.

Also second the idea of children being very entitled my particular class is all about 'it's not fair' and makes giving my all so much harder as its thrown in our face.

noblegiraffe · 14/12/2020 19:32
@noblegiraffe your road trip could be the next Hollywood blockbuster!
Well it would have a fabulous cast!

noblegiraffe · 14/12/2020 19:34

Matt Hancock saying we need to be careful about our contacts between now and Christmas so we can safely see family was particularly annoying.

Shut the schools then, Matt.

THEY. SAID. WHAAAAAAT?????? Angry Angry Angry
MrsHerculePoirot · 14/12/2020 19:39

I know!!!! And the other professor said something about ‘we’ve taken measures to mitigate in school’ or some such bollocks?!? LIKE WHAT?!?!?!?

Frlrlrubert · 14/12/2020 19:39

Head tried to get HoD to cover exam classes for our isolator from within the department. She to him they could concentrate on revision without a specialist. ( I like to think she laughed in his face, but she's too professional I think)

CallmeAngelGabriel · 14/12/2020 19:41

They are absolutely determined to limp on until the end of the Autumn term. At whatever cost.
And there will be a cost. But I daresay there are a fair few posters on here who will say it is us teachers' faults, for grabbing the occasional cup of coffee from the staffroom area and not eating our lunches in our cars (that some of us haven't travelled to school in).

BobsNephew · 14/12/2020 19:42

@CallmeAngelGabriel
Yup. It's odd and slightly out of character. I suspect it's aimed at someone in particular (don't know who!) but what a shit way to shit on people (not sure if there's a good way...). Made me v angry.
I'm not in school at the moment for various reasons. Still working hard though. The relief of not being there made me realise this weekend that I should leave. That email confirmed it!!

They are probably all paid for bots. It’s like playing a game of whack-a-mole.

road trip in a mobile testing van. We could be the new teacher superheroes, rescuing the data on school transmission from the evil Gav....

(You know that thing when you can't understand why your post won't "stick", you retry, close app, open again, same problem.... then you realise everyone's gone to the Broom Cupboard?! 😂)

plasticboxesrock · 14/12/2020 19:49

My jaw hit the floor too but I expect we'll get something similar from our crazy SLT later.... they have form in gaslighting bullshit.

We've got a positive parent, and 5 of my class were off today. Any link at all there do you think??!! We also had 3 of on Friday. One of my bubble colleagues waiting on a test result, and spouse too.

2 out of 5 of my DC's year 9 classes in isolation again as well (not my dc this time, well not yet...)

YES to entitled children and parents. I could write a book. I too have had the "can't you move the intervention to a later time" convo with a parent. Erm no, just BE ON TIME.

Went down the corridor for photocopying at 10.10, saw a child from another class just arriving (has form in this area) - apparently dad said she could stay in bed and just go to school when she wanted. OMG.

Augustbreeze · 14/12/2020 19:51

Has anyone topped up the tin of individually wrapped biscuits today?

Mince pies anyone?
