So, the no isolation bit is in that. FFS. This really needs to be challenged for the safety of the children as much as the adults.

CountDuckulasCranberrySauce · 23/12/2020 17:56

Any mileage in a freedom of information request? Seeing as they definitely have the data...

Poked my head out on to the main boards and regretted it. Will definitely be my news resolution to avoid the health board.

Spent the day making office forms quizzes. Apparently there is a limit to how many you're allowed and I'm close 🙁 Anyone suggest any suitable alternatives? Needs to be self marking!

Piggyinblankets · 23/12/2020 18:20

There was a FOI request a while back. They said they had not been asked to gather the data.

The strike thread is going OK . has attracted a right racist nutter who I vaguely recognise.

"Based on current evidence, face coverings will not be necessary in the classroom. This is because the approaches schools and colleges are putting in place will sufficiently reduce risk in the classroom, and because they may have a negative impact on learning and teaching."

Just, what the fuck???

Kahoot? You can assign them via Teams, which works for my pupils who don't like time pressure.

MrsDanvers123 · 23/12/2020 18:25

You are such an enabler, BreadSaucery, as I am now prepping myself for prosecco, followed by gin, followed by liqueurs ad infinitum Xmas Wink

CountDuckulasCranberrySauce · 23/12/2020 18:34

Thanks Brie, used that in class but not on teams, will give it a go

PumpkinPie2016 · 23/12/2020 18:34

I've given up watching the press briefings now.

Just read the 'guidance' on the Jan return Xmas Shock it really wouldn't surprise me if they press on with that plan regardless-even if everything else is closed. It really, really wouldn't.

Currently not planning any lessons for Jan. Will have to do some between Christmas and New Year but certainly won't be doing loads given that things may change at the 11th hourXmas Confused

Piggyinblankets · 23/12/2020 18:35

may have a negative impact. They have bugger all evidence.

In your class Teams space, go to the top bar and click the "+" sign. Then search for the Kahoot app Smile. I've used it with my y7s, was nice because the anxious ones who drop out halfway through a class competition got to finish the quiz - I just set a time limit that they were to finish by the end of the lesson.

Dear God, I will stay in here tonight. Apart from Sprout Recipes, I might have a wander through that thread because 2020 seems like the year when my sprouts might need zizzing up.

eitak22 · 23/12/2020 18:53

Has anyone got an email template for Mps? Very tempted to email my MP about primary schools.

Piggyinblankets · 23/12/2020 18:56

I'm watching Mary Berry teaching novices how to cook . Mary, novices do not have all those pans, whisks, tins and piping bags!!

CallmeAngelGabriel · 23/12/2020 18:56

Just did some gingerbread house decorating with the kids (who are in their early 20s!). Once we negotiated terms for the Christmas playlist on Alexa (ds and I wanted cathedral carols, dd wanted Taylor fucking Swift), it all went well.
Am now recovering relaxing with wine, contemplating starting on the wrapping.

DecemberStar · 23/12/2020 19:21

I'm in despair over how much I've got to do before Christmas Day.

KatherineOfGaunt · 23/12/2020 19:24

We're going into Tier 4 on Boxing Day. I'm really feeling I've had enough.

The restrictions are ridiculous; so much talking about wearing masks and keeping your distance, then in practically the same breath saying schools will stay open.

Jinglingmod · 23/12/2020 19:28

I mean, if Nicola Sturgeon was a teacher (in her spare time!) she'd definitely have had to resign as FM for "sending the wrong message" to her public Hmm.

Any of it you can Slack Alice, December?
Overthrhill · 23/12/2020 19:30

Bit of a stalker here but simply outraged at the latest developments. Just a cover teacher but just disgusted at how little regard this govt has for our lives and those that are close to us. Found out today that one of my adult dc has tested positive and feeling seriously unwell . Only 31 . Terrified it was because of me dropping off Christmas presents at the doorstep ,
Just can’t believe we are being left to hang out and dry like our lives snd those of our loved ones don’t matter .

GloriaWinklebot · 23/12/2020 19:31

Long time lurker who rarely posts but popping in to say thanks to you all for keeping me going this term! I hope you all manage some rest and relaxation over the next few days! New Year's Resolution is to try to post more. You guys are ace :)

SquashedFlyBiscuitsForSanta · 23/12/2020 19:35

In a strange head space.

Half my brain is super calm and relaxed. Almost completely ready for Christmas. Under far less pressure than normal as all hosting cancelled.

Other half of brain freaking the fuck out and then some. Dh getting steadily more scared about his return to school and he teaches mostly y11 this year.

The soundtrack to this is a DS so excited that he seems to be reduced to rolling on the floor yelling 'CHRISTMAS!' at the top of his voice on a regular basis.

Trying to zone out DS and retreat into my calm half.

Piggyinblankets · 23/12/2020 19:35

Oh over hope your DC will be OK.

SquashedFlyBiscuitsForSanta · 23/12/2020 19:38

Fingers crossed for you @Overthrhill and hello @GloriaWinklebot

DecemberStar · 23/12/2020 19:41

@BreadSaucery just trying to work that out. Guess teen DC will want wrapped presents?

Tbh I wouldn't be so stressed were it not for the rest of life. eg seeing DB on Christmas Day was something I was really looking forward to, even though he might not have known who I was.

It's not easy being a single mum at Christmas.

Hi to all lurkers and delurkers!

Overthrhill · 23/12/2020 19:41

And yes - all of you guys have kept me going over the last few weeks - so thank you for being there. 🤗
