You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom. Close the door quietly on your way out

Yes, the whole face covering bit is new and they have added some stuff on transport.

Piggywaspushed · 28/08/2020 20:10

I think the shielding bit ahs been embellished.. It basically says 'it is all in your head. Get back to school'

Piggywaspushed · 28/08/2020 20:21

Wow, a real recurrent U4T type has had an absolute epiphany on noble's thread!

I think some people are finally getting it.

But about everything else, can I just go Fucking fuckety fuck fucked!!

WhyNotMe40 · 28/08/2020 20:27

I really cannot be arsed to read new guidance at this point on a Friday. I'll just muddle it up with previous versions, and my 4yo has been an absolute PITA today due to too much inside time (torrential rain for too many days).

Piggywaspushed · 28/08/2020 20:29

Bet this is one of our charmers :

The press release summarising the guidance

www.gov.uk/government/news/all-possible-measures-to-be-taken-before-schools-and-colleges-close

"If a suspected case of coronavirus occurs in a school, the pupil or staff member will be asked to self-isolate and get tested while the school continues working as normal with its existing protective measures in place. If a case is confirmed, local public health officials will work with the school to take appropriate measures, including asking all members of a pupil’s bubble to isolate for 14 days and access remote education while other pupils continue attending."

ARE WE IN A BUBBLE, GAVIN?

ffs, how can we not know?

I have the piss boiling rage about this. And also about the PE dept.

phlebasconsidered · 28/08/2020 20:36

Salty my head and Trust appear impervious. I think they feel reassured by the rhetoric and the fact we are primary and so "safe". I have told DH that should I be seriously ill or die he is to go MENTAL and full on attack mode.

I am awaiting union response (my nearest rep is on holiday) and have a telephone gp appointment to qualify what their risk assessment is as opposed to the schools.

Ickabog · 28/08/2020 20:38

including asking all members of a pupil’s bubble to isolate for 14 days and access remote education while other pupils continue attending."

Wait so it's no longer just close contacts? Does this apply to a positive test for a member of staff or just pupils? If it's staff as well then if I have a positive test the entire school would have to isolate, as i'm in contact with every bubble

Piggywaspushed · 28/08/2020 20:38

That's mad noble. Test and trace are going to melt down!!

WhyNotMe40 · 28/08/2020 20:40

But that's interesting about asking the entire bubble to isolate on potentially one positive? Previously they were saying it needed more than 2?
And an entire year group bubble?

I think we are still not "bubbled" but it really needs clarification

Ickabog · 28/08/2020 20:43

Yes it was 2 or more cases then the entire bubble, year group or school may have to isolate.

This is a huge U-turn, and will be hugely disruptive to pupils and parents.

Piggywaspushed · 28/08/2020 20:44

Is 'including' possibly being used wrongly?

Flagsfiend · 28/08/2020 20:45

The only mention of 2 cases now says this is likely an outbreak. It says in a school not a bubble. I think 1 case is just close contacts, but in primary they are expecting that to be the whole bubble, hence the wording.

Piggywaspushed · 28/08/2020 20:46

I mean literally we could isolate 400+ students for one case and many of them will never have been anywhere near each other.

And what about the buses ??

CallmeAngelina · 28/08/2020 20:46

I am meeting an old friend for lunch on Sunday. He is a GP and will only meet in a restaurant that has outside seating. isn't that interesting?
I will quiz him and report back.

CallmeAngelina · 28/08/2020 20:48

Oh ffs, I've just had a message on WA from our school Senco, who said that children don't spread it so what's the issue?

Ffs! That poor teacher in there... I would've shouted no to his last question and fuck the consequences... live off the admiration of colleagues forever!

Iamnotthe1 · 28/08/2020 20:50

@Piggywaspushed

Face covering has been added. How the hell are Middle Schools supposed to respond to the specification of 'year 7 and above? Won't a year 6 meet a year 7??
The Government are still pretending that Year Sixes don't get it.
Piggywaspushed · 28/08/2020 20:51

She had pinned herself 2 m away. She did appear to be trying to get them to answer his Qs though.

NeurotrashWarrior · 28/08/2020 20:51

Long bed time; I haven't read it but it seems more confused than ever.

I have an epidemiologist friend whose husband is world renowned Harvard epidemiologist professor... they cannot believe what is about to happen in our schoolsSad Been chatting with her recently she can't believe that we have so little protection.
NeurotrashWarrior · 28/08/2020 20:52

This government have no awareness of middles schools do they?!
