You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom. Close the door quietly on your way out

Pah. Joe Wicks! Commendable effort and all that, but I put my knee out the first time I tried his workouts.

Enoughnowstop · 28/08/2020 19:36

Oh wow....how far we’ve come

What will the next 6 months look like?

noblegiraffe · 28/08/2020 19:37

I think I developed Stockholm Syndrome about Saint Joe. Can’t hear a word against him.

Hercwasonaroll · 28/08/2020 19:38

PE team hate me as I suggested Joe was doing their job.

Flagsfiend · 28/08/2020 19:39

Sounds like my school are being very cautious. Inset online but in school building. Told we must socially distance and not gather in classrooms. Think they want us all in to troubleshoot IT problems. I'm also going on a walk round school to find all my classrooms, don't want to get lost on my way to lessons Grin

I’m like that. I can’t work out why I don’t find him incredibly irritating, but I love him.
NeurotrashWarrior · 28/08/2020 19:50

Apparently updated guidance.

Great timing....Angry

Medra · 28/08/2020 19:51

Our INSET is all in the hall together for 2 hours, then a break, then another 90 minutes altogether in the hall. I don’t think they’ve thought through the H&S.

Piggywaspushed · 28/08/2020 19:51

Whaaa?

They did this before, didn't they on a Bank Holiday!?

TheHoneyBadger · 28/08/2020 19:51

Good video. MP of the year 🤦‍♀️

Ickabog · 28/08/2020 19:51

What will the next 6 months look like?

Children being sent in ill
Parents moaning because the teacher is off. Thanks to the ill children who were sent in
Complaints about repeating XYZ work
Complaints about not repeating XYZ work
Complaints about children wearing masks
Complaints about children not wearing masks

But if I had to put money on one thing, it would be
Complaints about lost jumpers with no name in them

Keepdistance · 28/08/2020 19:52

Concerned they are already/will run out of tests.

I think as there is no SD if there are no tests or they are taking too long to come back the bubble should automatically pop.
It's all ridiculous anyway as when testing cant keep up KW will end up taking 14d off with every cold.

I just dont think they realise how many coughs people get. Especially kids.

Imo they need to move to saliva tests even if slightly less effective?

Though someone was saying it's actually not enough labs.

That bbc below.
It definitely shows uk gov are purposely doing it differently.

Otherwise they could just have followed the WHO advice.

TheHoneyBadger · 28/08/2020 19:53

Oh god I can’t read it again. If anyone does can they summarise please?

Piggywaspushed · 28/08/2020 19:57

Complaints about lack of tick and flick

Piggywaspushed · 28/08/2020 19:59

HOW MANY TIMES have they been asked to highlight changes??

plasticboxesrock · 28/08/2020 20:00

He has no shame.

noblegiraffe · 28/08/2020 20:00

My DH says that as the guidance is a govt webpage they have to actually deliberately select not to have changes highlighted.

Piggywaspushed · 28/08/2020 20:01

Face covering has been added. How the hell are Middle Schools supposed to respond to the specification of 'year 7 and above? Won't a year 6 meet a year 7??

SaltyAndFresh · 28/08/2020 20:01

Based on current evidence and the measures that schools are already putting in place, such as the system of controls and consistent bubbles, face coverings will not be necessary in the classroom even where social distancing is not possible. Face coverings would have a negative impact on teaching and their use in the classroom should be avoided

From guidance (I'm not sure if this is new as I haven't kept up).

But bubbles aren't consistent, are they?

I bought a t-shirt - I was fully expecting to hate his guts but the fact he was finding it hard too made me warm to him!
