You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom. Close the door quietly on your way out

Angelina had she been watching Dr Ranj??

Iamnotthe1 · 28/08/2020 20:56

@Ickabog

including asking all members of a pupil’s bubble to isolate for 14 days and access remote education while other pupils continue attending."

Wait so it's no longer just close contacts? Does this apply to a positive test for a member of staff or just pupils? If it's staff as well then if I have a positive test the entire school would have to isolate, as i'm in contact with every bubble

Yes but you're forgetting the illogical DfE perspective. According to them, contact with bubbles doesn't count. You are supposed to be 2 metres away at all times because you aren't part of the bubble. That way, if you get ill, no-one has to go off other than you. It's almost like they planned that...
NeurotrashWarrior · 28/08/2020 20:59

As has been pointed out in the group I saw this in, some schools have been open 3 days already!

God knows. I love her dearly, so I don't want to pin her down like a Rottweiler.
Ickabog · 28/08/2020 21:03

But it doesn't mention close contacts or distance, asking all members of a pupil’s bubble. That could be an entire year group. Which could mean pupils isolating who haven't actually been anywhere near the pupil who tests positive. Confused

noblegiraffe · 28/08/2020 21:03

No one on twitter can figure out if the bubble includes teachers either.

Iamnotthe1 · 28/08/2020 21:04

But Gav said that schools open on the 7th. Are you telling me that the Education Secretary doesn't know when schools open? That's preposterous!

hedgehogger1 · 28/08/2020 21:05

Been watching things unfurl in Northampton with interest since the announced masks were compulsory in lockdown areas. Local press announced it was compulsory in Northampton. People said no they're not as we're just an "area of intervention, not lockdown". Some schools said they were compulsory, some said they were optional. Then someone had to go back to government who have said they are compulsory. Now schools have had to (I assume) send a message out to parents to say kids do need them after all. No one knows what's going on...

NeurotrashWarrior · 28/08/2020 21:06

I'm going to hazard an illogical guess that staff aren't part of the bubble, as they could be part of many, and are Supposed to be 2 m apart, for the purposes of the guidance.

After all that shouting about how staff are the ones to spread it the most Hmm

Totally logical.

When they announced the local lockdown in Leicester they said it wouldn't effect schools, and they would remain open. Schools had already closed for the summer..

If I'm thinking about it seriously then I imagine they will apply the same standards they do for track and trace in the wider community within secondaries. I'm predicting that the whole bubble thing will only really apply to primaries and only as a last resort.

@noblegiraffe
Hasn't it always been that primary staff are part of the bubble but secondary staff aren't? That's how they justified telling us to ignore distancing.

NeurotrashWarrior · 28/08/2020 21:09

There's going to be 6 bubbles I could close in that case.

No way! That was just what those nasty leftist unions said to turn people against poor Gav and make us think he's an idiot.

DAMN you mean I fell for their lies Wink

CallmeAngelina · 28/08/2020 21:11

Look, I don't want to start a loo roll panic situation here, but I would be stocking up on masks if I were you!

DrMadelineMaxwell · 28/08/2020 21:12

I have a SLT zoom meet on Bank holiday prior to our training days. Lucky me! Our very risk tolerant head is planning on classroom time for the first day (reorganising according to the rules) and then distanced meetings in the hall, probably on a rota according to whoever is involved depending on what is being addressed. Or he may just choose to do zoom meets into our classrooms, where we can join on our ipads at least to be able to make it more than just one way.

It is the track and trace people who get on the case initially in Wales. It will take a few cases before someone decides how to escalate it to other measures.

I've just read this and wanted to share with @Piggywaspushed and @MrsHamlet. How apt.

Are you allowed to belong to more than bubble? From a primary perspective, I'm apparently allowed to cross into another bubble if I need to for staffing reasons but I must stay 2m away so that I'm bubble adjacent rather than in it. The only bubble I belong to is my class's bubble.
parrotonmyshoulder · 28/08/2020 21:17

Special schools and AP look like we’re just to stay open for all, in all eventualities, for everyone, whatever tier we’re in.

What are your heads saying about teaching staff having to look after their own isolating children - symptomatic or otherwise?

MrsHamlet · 28/08/2020 21:24

I need a copy of that... it would be an interesting year 12 reading.
HarveySchlumpfenburger · 28/08/2020 21:29

@Hercwasonaroll

PE team hate me as I suggested Joe was doing their job.
Well, if you find yourself doing several laps of the school pitch on a freezing December morning, you’ve only got yourself to blame.

Pupils who will be unable to engage effectively in remote education at home due, for example, to a lack of devices or quiet space to study, might be considered vulnerable (at local discretion) and therefore able to attend full-time on-site provision.

So fuck you schools and people in deprived areas. It’s not like we’re dealing with an illness that has a higher risk of complications for those that are living in poverty...

SaltyAndFresh · 28/08/2020 21:31

@MrsHamlet there was a segment on it on Word of Mouth recently.

MrsHamlet · 28/08/2020 21:35

I love word of mouth, and Micheal Rosen. I got to sit next to him at a dinner once :)

phlebasconsidered · 28/08/2020 21:42

Primaries are in bubbles the same way secondaries are.

I'm in a 3 class UKS2 bubble because of necessity we will end upall "touching" via PE staff (who are our ppa cover and teach all classes), coaches to and from school, bus duty and break and lunch duties as well as siblings across classes and keystages. So that's 98 kids. They, of course, will also have siblings throughout school and in secondaries. Plus our staff meetings and inset.

Then they will all be "together but separate " in breakfast and afterschool club.

So bubbles. But not.

WhyNotMe40 · 28/08/2020 21:43

Can I just ask - so we are supposed to stay 2m away.
Say I test positive. I have been getting closed due to actually, you know, teaching, checking work, helping, maybe having a quiet word with a disruptive sort... Do we admit we got closer than 2m (and maybe get disciplined / in the doghouse) or deny all knowledge?
