You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom. Close the door quietly on your way out

Exactly.
The only place I wouldn't recommend using it on is electricals - keyboard and mouse.

SaltyAndFresh · 28/08/2020 17:53

At my school, pupils are in zones during form time but come 9am they all move to lesson 1 at the same time, repeat x5. It just means I have to dash to my room after form time, tidy up and spray the tables, then the kids come to me. I don't see the point in zones if the rest of the day is just a free for all.

Mistressiggi · 28/08/2020 18:10

My keyboard has been liberally doused in the stuff Blush I'm not given anything safer to use.

noblegiraffe · 28/08/2020 18:11

Bloody hell will my social distancing thread be full by the end of the day?

Really wish it still had that poll on it.

What was it on when it was moved? I thought about 2/3 agreed with you last time I looked.
noblegiraffe · 28/08/2020 18:27

Yeah it was 2/3 YANBU with 300-odd votes. Would love to see how many posters had at least read the OP.

The ‘government doesn’t give a shit about schools’ thread got something like 1700 votes in total but didn’t move nearly as fast.

phlebasconsidered · 28/08/2020 18:44

Free toffee vodka when you make an order.
I am taking full advantage of this.

Is everyone doing remote Inset or inset together in a room?

WhyNotMe40 · 28/08/2020 18:48

We are doing inset in the hall all together. Then various meetings and cpd in various rooms.

SaltyAndFresh · 28/08/2020 18:50

Inset in groups. Quite big groups really.

It's just insaneSadWe are being split up into large groups in various places so at least we are not all together....

Similar story here.
monkeytennis97 · 28/08/2020 18:53

@Appuskidu something along the lines of 'if they stay SD at the door that's fine but they can't expect to be policing teachers at the moment by coming in and questioning kids/checking books.' Kev said they should be supporting us with management of classroom not policing us.

motherrunner · 28/08/2020 18:55

Main staff meeting via Teams, dept and pastoral face to face.

minisoksmakehardwork · 28/08/2020 18:56

Thanks @phlebasconsidered. I needed an excuse to order some more toffee vodka. Have ordered the salted caramel cocoa one as well. For dh of course lol.

CallmeAngelina · 28/08/2020 19:01

My HT said that she is putting all her plans on a mass email, and hopes that that will negate the need for a meeting on Inset Day, so we can have the whole day prepping our rooms/plans. She will then be available for queries.
We will only get together (at a distance) if there's anything too complicated for that written gumph.

WhyNotMe40 · 28/08/2020 19:08

See this is why I'm so worried. The HT even laughed and scoffed about mask wearers last term. But then he's not an epidemiologist so why should I expect him to take this stuff seriously? It's not his expertise!
phlebasconsidered · 28/08/2020 19:13

We are all Inset in a classroom as normal. And staff meetings as normal too. Our head is a risk friendly micromanager.

ohthegoats · 28/08/2020 19:17

We're inset separately in our phases. For my phase that's 9 people in my classroom.

SaltyAndFresh · 28/08/2020 19:17

Isn't you head concerned about being sued?

Piggywaspushed · 28/08/2020 19:23

Dr Ranj on the One Show keep telling us that children don't catch it or spread it, so it will all be FINE.

😡 He needs to get back to working with those puppets on ‘Get Well Soon’.

Same here 'socially distanced' in the hall and then departmental and pastoral in classrooms. Then back in the hall just to make sure we're properly exposed.

I have to laugh or... you know.

noblegiraffe · 28/08/2020 19:30

Dr Ranj advertising Furniture Village annoys me every time I do a Joe Wicks video.

MrsHamlet · 28/08/2020 19:33

We're doing inset in school but over teams. Hods have been asked to find a suitably large space. I tried to suggest that actually staff would be better off at home in that case, but no. There is nothing I have to do next week that I can't do from home.
One item on our agenda is "in the event of closure". No one is convinced we'll make it very far.
