You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs
Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom. Close the door quietly on your way out

@StaffAssociationRepresentative

Well played everyone - great thread Noble.

Clav fought till the end

👏 👏 👏
Piggywaspushed · 25/08/2020 09:29

Justine is talking a lot of sense.

MrsHamlet · 25/08/2020 09:30

@motherrunner it's either that or yawning. I like to assume the former.

Piggywaspushed · 25/08/2020 09:31

I don't think Clav attacks teachers. She just enjoys the debate. She doesn't think much of state education. The fact that her DH is at the DfE makes this the biggest concern.
The ones who attack teachers are far nastier than Clav.

Appuskidu · 25/08/2020 09:31

@Piggywaspushed

Justine is talking a lot of sense.
What did she say, @Piggywaspushed?
cheesecurdsandgravy · 25/08/2020 09:34

Top thread @noblegiraffe, I enjoyed reading it, made me feel that more parents care about schools and staff (as well as their children of course) than many threads have!

I can zone out Clav now. I have debated with her before under previous user names, her technique never changes. It’s not worth the blood pressure rise for me!

Piggywaspushed · 25/08/2020 09:35

Justine was really reasonable and said she understood parents concerns and that there should be clearer advice and better safety measures. She anticipates a U Turn.

Meanwhile South Korea has closed schools again.

SaltyAndFresh · 25/08/2020 09:37

@noblegiraffe

MN feels different about the conversations around schools this week.

Like they’ve woken up to the fact that this government are a bit shit and hate teachers.

Maybe it’s because they haven’t had to do any homeschooling for a few weeks so are feeling less bitter at us.

I agree. I feel less like I'm fighting and more like I'm just calling out arrogance like 50's.
TheHoneyBadger · 25/08/2020 09:47

Bizarre that my school announces kids aren’t allowed to wear masks the day before Scotland announces they have to.

ineedaholidaynow · 25/08/2020 09:47

Where was Justine speaking, and what U turn is she expecting?

Piggywaspushed · 25/08/2020 09:50

On Victoria Derbyshire. U turn in masks, but remember she isn't an MP any more. Far too reasonable.

Piggywaspushed · 25/08/2020 09:51

50s comment on Mickey mouse grades went down like a bowl of sick.

WhyNotMe40 · 25/08/2020 09:54

I've just been really brave and checked my emails for the first time since results day.

Still no risk assessment update from before the yr 10 return. We had a staff meeting to tell us of zoning before we broke up, but that's the last I heard. At that point we were told no masks for kids or staff.

WhyNotMe40 · 25/08/2020 09:55

@Piggywaspushed

50s comment on Mickey mouse grades went down like a bowl of sick.
Where was that?
Danglingmod · 25/08/2020 09:58

Gosh, some of your schools are really lagging with letting staff know anything.

There's one thing I'm not happy about in our plans (won't say as I've been ranting to colleagues - and obviously I mean within the bounds of what they are actually allowed to put in place ; there's actually a lot more than one thing I'm unhappy about) but our communication has been regular and timely.

MrsHamlet · 25/08/2020 10:04

We'll get the update email either on Friday at 5.30 or Monday at the same time.

Piggywaspushed · 25/08/2020 10:09

On a thread about grades being meaningless. Mean spirited thread which she posted on in glee, only to appear nasty and unteacherly.

Don't read this if you are feeling relaxed. It will make you really angry. 😡

MrsHamlet · 25/08/2020 10:20

They need to fuck off to the far side of fuck, and then fuck off some more.

WhyNotMe40 · 25/08/2020 10:21

Piggy - oh yes I saw that. She really is something else...

WhyNotMe40 · 25/08/2020 10:21

@MrsHamlet

They need to fuck off to the far side of fuck, and then fuck off some more.
Now now, don't hold back - say what you really mean GrinGrin
Piggywaspushed · 25/08/2020 10:24

Not getting a lot of support on that thread, mind!

Ickabog · 25/08/2020 10:25

tadjennyp The original tweet made me cross, but this beauty underneath had me howling with laughter.

And if your a teacher who wants to get kids back in school you will be outcasted. Stricken off and never allowed to teach again.

AugustBreeze · 25/08/2020 10:26

BBC radio headlines leading with Heads want greater clarity from Government on masks and other measures...

It definitely feels like things are turning.

Briefing for our parents (which includes me) sent out yesterday in which they'd were told "face coverings not required at present but obviously we'll update you if there are any developments" (not exact wording but that was roughly it).

NeurotrashWarrior · 25/08/2020 10:34

Jfc there's a thread where the op thinks masks are harming baby's development.

I'm being v scathing for me.
