You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs
Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom. Close the door quietly on your way out

@TheHoneyBadger

That’s inspiring! I’d like to lose another 4 stone and it feels like an insurmountable amount till someone says they’ve done it.

To think I used to get my knickers in a knot about a few pounds years ago.

20 years ago I went from 15 stone to 9 in just under a year through health eating. I had to as my back is basically a mess.

Colleagues always comment on how ‘good’ I am for resisting break time chocolates and biscuits. Quite easy to do when you fear life in a wheelchair!

WhyNotMe40 · 24/08/2020 14:35

Let's imagine I'm teaching student Josh who is asymptomatic on Monday and infects me and one other teacher, plus his best mate.

So.... Say I'm infectious but asymptomatic.
I teach in classroom 1a for an hour, then 2b, 3c etc.
The virus we now know is airborne.
The next teacher in each room ive taught in is likely to become infected, and possibly the teacher after that.
Also I had to queue for the loo and used it once with 4 other teachers going in and out.
Staffroom is closed though.

Say 6 other teachers get infected and maybe a couple of students become symptomatic. No idea about asymptomatic ones as they won't get tested.
Josh stays asymptomatic but his best mates nan gets it.
Do I still get blamed for spreading it?

Piggywaspushed · 24/08/2020 14:38

Did they ever say the moral responsibility thing about care workers or NHS staff?

I suppose because we were in full lockdown they didn't need to but still.

Where is their EVIDENCE ? It is proper victim blaming. One of those teachers/TAs who had a positive test ought to speak up.

What one earth do they think we are all doing??

The people over the fence from me who constantly have everyone's children round and their parents are not teachers. The people raving in Manchester are probably not teachers.

What exactly is it they want us (not) to do?

Piggywaspushed · 24/08/2020 14:48

Some amusing stuff about the hit by a bus crap here:

Plus, because we move and the pupils stay put, it's the staff who share keyboards.

‘50’ has competition:

@TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair
Seriously don't even bother trying to get through to the absolute dickheads who are shitting their pants about this virus.

I have been back teaching my year 1 class since June, nearly full capacity and it's fine. The only problem was a sickness bug going round which would be more dangerous to them than covid.
And I am also a type 1 diabetic teacher before anyone says 'its alright for you if you're not vulnerable'. I'm more vulnerable to everything but you know what? I want to live life and I want my children to live life and this whole thing is ridiculous.

Ickabog · 24/08/2020 15:11

I have been back teaching my year 1 class since June, nearly full capacity and it's fine.

Surely that wasn't possible with the guidance around group sizes, unless they have a very small class.

ineedaholidaynow · 24/08/2020 15:12

Maybe they are one and the same

Piggywaspushed · 24/08/2020 15:13

Ah yes the diabetic teacher.she pops up every so often.

motherrunner · 24/08/2020 15:15

I was wondering whether 50 was like a Gremlin and was popping off more teacher haters 😆

Appuskidu · 24/08/2020 15:19

How has anyone been teaching their class nearly at full capacity since June?

CallmeAngelina · 24/08/2020 15:22

Am I chuff restricting my outside school activities!
I have no intention of going to any raves, or head-banging in any mosh-pits, but I will continue to meet friends for dog-walks, perhaps followed by a drink in a well-managed country pub, or attend BBQs for small numbers, or go for the weekend to relatives by the beach.
Until/unless they ban that for everyone, that is.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 24/08/2020 15:23

It was 25% for years 10 and 12 in June and even then they didn't all turn up.

Frlrlrubert · 24/08/2020 15:24

Do the teachers who will quit is masks are brought in and have been properly back since June have their own staff room so you think? In an alternate universe where the virus doesn't actually exist?

TheHoneyBadger · 24/08/2020 15:24

50 literally popped up from under her bridge to spew bile at me and then disappeared again today.

Still smarting from being accused of being a shit teacher who’d admitted to being crap at classroom management and having kids hurl verbal abuse at me.

We had a girl last year who spent her whole day wandering around the school hurling verbal abuse at people including the head. IE refused to have her anymore and she couldn’t be excluded because she was cared for. Everyone was quietly told to hang in there because she’s going to be moved out of county soon.

I actually didn’t mind her 1:1 and she’d spend much of my lunch duty chatting to me but it was impossible for her to be managed in the classroom for more than 10 minutes by anyone from nqt to ht.

Would love to introduce her and 50 and see how they got along.

MrsHamlet · 24/08/2020 15:27

I was looking forward to the staffroom rave 😥

Appuskidu · 24/08/2020 15:31

So NHS workers’ families got £60k compensation if they died of Covid.

Will teachers get lawsuits brought against them for being the ones to infect children?! I wouldn’t put it past them.

MrsHerculePoirot · 24/08/2020 15:45

Another Covid teacher weight loss here 🤣 I’ve lost about 1.75 stone and moved to overweight category. DH has lost 5 stone since Christmas, 3 of which since about June.

MrsHerculePoirot · 24/08/2020 15:46

Maybe they are prep school and only have 5 students in their class.

Piggywaspushed · 24/08/2020 15:50

Is any one brave enough to start a thread on which of our behaviours out of school should be morally policed and see what Batshit people come out with?

50 wouldn't like this as she basically believes It is all a hoax.

The poster under discussion has name changed but has been around a while. Very distinctive voice which is a lot like Daffodils

Iamnotthe1 · 24/08/2020 15:52

@Appuskidu

How has anyone been teaching their class nearly at full capacity since June?
I taught my full class but in two different bubbles due to the guidance. If someone had a standard size class back in one room then that would have been breaking all the Government guidance unless it's an especially small class in, for example, a private primary.
