You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs
Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom. Close the door quietly on your way out

67 cases in a month? From my Sunday morning maths, I think we must be similar in Scotland amd we’ve only been back a week. Here’s a rundown of all cases reported so far

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-53833823

Interestingly it’s mostly focused on children, not teachers.

RigaBalsam · 23/08/2020 13:02

Hear! Here! Sorry English teachers.

Cringe!

WhyNotMe40 · 23/08/2020 13:02

They called me 'Noble' Hmm Giraffe

I may never recover.

@WhyNotMe40

I have reported the alleged teacher who says unions are stopping schools opening as misinformation
It’s been deleted-I’m pleased.
MrsHamlet · 23/08/2020 13:06

I couldn't agree more. I might have to get my measuring stick out to work out exactly how anti social the distance is between the 34 y11 students in my classroom

BelleSausage · 23/08/2020 13:06

I think an anonymous FB or Twitter account would be the way to go.

TBH this is all going to be a nightmare if my experience of the last two days is anything to go by. DD and I were tested at 7 on Friday evening and still don’t have our results. If this was the middle of a school week then that would be two days I’d had off work with a potential third day.

24 hour turn around my eye.

WhyNotMe40 · 23/08/2020 13:15

That deletion was quick! I'm impressed

Piggywaspushed · 23/08/2020 13:24

The whole why shouldn't we wear masks threads if full of vitriol, poison and fake news. I don't even know where to begin with MNHQ on that one.

motherrunner · 23/08/2020 13:26

We need posters deleted not even just posts although they’ll turn up under different names.

Piggywaspushed · 23/08/2020 13:27

I reported the whole thread so we'll see. It's not legitimate debate when it goes down the China conspiracy route, or when people who wear masks are called paranoid.

TheHoneyBadger · 23/08/2020 13:28

They’re allowed phones out at our school either but with them staying put and us running around they’re regularly going to be left unsupervised for lesson changeovers.

Kids don’t use fb or Twitter much. Tiktok maybe? Or instagram

TheHoneyBadger · 23/08/2020 13:29

Sorry NOT allowed phones

Enoughnowstop · 23/08/2020 13:29

24 hour turn around my eye

I waited 75 hours this week. Not good.

motherrunner · 23/08/2020 13:30

Hopefully it gets taken down. @Piggywaspushed.

I really hope ‘50’ isn’t one of my colleagues it even my children’s teacher, they show very little compassion or empathy.

Our pupils are t allowed phones out between 9-3.45 but we still have issues last year of them uploading TikTok videos in school premises and with their uniforms on.

As Jeff Goldblum says in Jurassic Park: “life will find a way” 😆

I get the feeling that quite a few of us complained.

It seems to be the only thing that works.

Some time a go there was a poster that couldn't get a ft job so went on supply and finally got a job as in a private school.

I wonder if they are the same poster as that one always posted her hatred for state school teachers.

Although I may be wrong.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 23/08/2020 14:33

@motherrunner

Look who popped up today:

“ lifeafter50

In the guidance for my school, masks are permitted for those who are paranoid and illogical but certainly not encouraged.”

the more she says that the more determined I am to wear a mask!

private schools tend to be more swift at getting rid of staff who rub people (staff or parents) up the wrong way.

My sister in the US just told me her son has virtual schooling all next year.

She was HORRIFIED that we have no masks allowed. And she's a cop!

My friend (epidemiologist in Massachusetts whose husband is prof of epidemiology at Harvard) was equally appalled.

Oh don’t @Enoughnowstop. Not another 24 hours. I’m at my wits end! DH is on shift so is out from 6-8 and I have a fractious toddler who is desperate to go to the park.

Gah!

Kashtan · 23/08/2020 15:18

Piggy I do know of 2 schools that inflated the grades, both tiny little independent schools. We were definitely told that the grades overall needed to be inline with previous 3 years performance or at risk of being moderated down.
