You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

In the other staffroom, there is rhubarb & ginger gin, along with tea and coffee.

(Hey Feenie! Clam here, under a name-change)

CarrieBlue · 17/05/2020 20:29

After a particularly awful homework ‘club’ after school one evening, I found a minsture bottle of port in my pigeonhole. Our DH really was a lovely man

cheesecurdsandgravy · 17/05/2020 20:33

This is the best cheese board ever. Every type of cheese, pate, port... and calorie free!

I’m oscillating still between being up and down. Is anyone else feeling... I don’t know, wobbly?

Piggywaspushed · 17/05/2020 20:36

Love Casablanca too. And Citizen Kane. Black Narcissus. Vertigo. Great stuff.

Feenie · 17/05/2020 20:36

I remembered! Grin How are you doing?

Feenie · 17/05/2020 20:38

Not as wobbly as this time last week, cheesecurdsandgravy. I felt sick!

NeurotrashWarrior · 17/05/2020 20:45

Hmmmmm cheeeese...

CallmeAngelina · 17/05/2020 20:46

Overweight now, and drinking too much.
Other than that, hunky-dory, as long as I remember that the teacher-bashing on here does NOT reflect real life.

Goingcrazzy · 17/05/2020 20:47

Hi all, been a while. Been trying to keep away from all the talk, headlines etc but has not worked. School wants live 30minute classes, going to struggle ontop on 2 kids home learning. That's ontop of my NEA calls for y12. So difficult.

Goingcrazzy · 17/05/2020 20:47

I'll take brie.

NeurotrashWarrior · 17/05/2020 20:48

I was definitely in shock last week. I go up and down; I still don't feel 100% confident that I'm not going to get summoned back in soon. I fear all normal viruses each winter and get stressed enough about one starting even with kick ass inhalers.

Piggywaspushed · 17/05/2020 20:49

I don't like cheese.

Except Cheshire.

cheesecurdsandgravy · 17/05/2020 20:50

@Feenie Sick! Yes! That’s exactly how I feel. No actual nausea, but stomach in knots, off food, listless. But, if you are feeling better, there’s hope for me yet.

One of SLT messaged me on Saturday, just general chit chat. I mentioned I was doing work and that a piece of software wasn’t working as I expected (they’re a whizz with it) they said “but it’s Saturday?!”. 3/4 of our SLT are both child free and single, I hope they factor that in to this new world of “live” lessons...

MossWalk · 17/05/2020 20:53

Bless that little one Feenie :( Her poor poor family.

SallyLovesCheese · 17/05/2020 20:53

Piggy 😲😲😲

Can I have yours?

Piggywaspushed · 17/05/2020 20:55

Of course. Help yourself. I'll have your twiglets.

starrynight19 · 17/05/2020 20:59

OhFeenie that poor little girl and her family.

Those pictures of an early years classroom , it’s just awful Sad.

mumsneedwine · 17/05/2020 21:02

@MsAwesomeDragon yes there is a chat function. Mine use it while I talk.
The baby story is horrific. We lost a parent early on and the repercussions were huge in school.

Feenie · 17/05/2020 21:03

Overweight now, and drinking too much.

Me too! Grin And I'm also staying away from the rest of MN for the sake of my sanity.

Piggywaspushed · 17/05/2020 21:06

I'm staying here. A thread on Tourettes is giving me the proper rage.

NeurotrashWarrior · 17/05/2020 21:12

It makes a huge difference if slt or even governors have children, especially young ones.

Our LEA have issued some policies here and there and in one it specified to recognise that employee's situations if they were carers in any way would impact being able to wfh well/ as much as others and to adjust expectations accordingly. That lifted 50% of the heavy feeling I had on my shoulders immediately.

MossWalk · 17/05/2020 21:16

Depends why they're single. One of my single teacher SLT friends has been a bit down during all this and has said she's not putting her life on hold for her job any more.

I think a lot of people will have a new attitude to work after all this. I know I do.

Asuitablecat · 17/05/2020 21:16

I'm finding it easier to skim past the any teacher ones now, c is I know there will be no joy in them.

SallyLovesCheese · 17/05/2020 21:22

I'll have your twiglets.

Gladly, Piggy. I'd rather eat cardboard!

I saw the thread earlier today, too. Lots of people who don't understand Tourettes on there, methinks.

Appuskidu · 17/05/2020 21:25

Found you all-I’m up for some cheese and port.

Have just seen that Kevin Courtney of the NEU is on breakfast telly at 8.15 tomorrow with an ex education minister, which I presume will either be Blunkett or Pob. Can’t see that ending well.

Feeling thoroughly depressed and have been since last Sunday, to be honest. I think we’ve been well and truly stuffed.
