You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

In the other staffroom, there is rhubarb & ginger gin, along with tea and coffee.

We're not opening over half term. thank fuck

TheHoneyBadger · 18/05/2020 18:43

Possibly means they’ve retrospectively done the maths on numbers of classrooms and staff required? Or always knew the maths but now it will be teachers fault that there’s not enough rooms or staff for 3 year groups in ‘bubbles’ of less than 15 unless they’re part time which won’t get any parents back to work

pfrench · 18/05/2020 18:45

They have not mentioned year 6 in this updated coronavirus document. Probably doesn't mean anything though.

Someone on AIBU getting pissed off that not all of her child's year 6 can go back due to space. Lots of 'surely they can do SOMETHING' type responses.

Not sure why I looked. Maybe because I just accidentally wiped chopped chilli in my eye and fancied a fight.

Ouch!

NeurotrashWarrior · 18/05/2020 18:50

Sorry, there's another document now?!

Piggywaspushed · 18/05/2020 18:55

However... looking at that thread wtf are the school thinking doing first come first served??

RigaBalsam · 18/05/2020 18:56

No my Mp just posted some updates.

Piggywaspushed · 18/05/2020 19:03

There is an advantage of r middle schools, even though it is so soso sosososososo stupid they have to take back year 6 and that is that they will only have on year group in a school designed to hold years 5- 8. Lots of classrooms for them and presumably staff.

Shame the kids won't be bale to get there without sitting on a bus though...

phlebasconsidered · 18/05/2020 19:04

I .....must......not respond.....to Daffodil.

Step away.

Seriously : that is some massively made up job and family she has going on.

pinkrocker · 18/05/2020 19:05

Piggy ours is so rural they'd need a bus each!
Our school is staying open over half term for the KW children, I'm on the rota. Haven't been in for 2 weeks now, so I don't mind.
Did anyone join Kevin and Mary's Zoom conference?

Piggywaspushed · 18/05/2020 19:06

who phleb ; I thought the year 6 thread was OK for them meantime. Lots of people patiently explaining the school's limitations.

Has it taken a turn?

Piggywaspushed · 18/05/2020 19:07

Didn't know about it pink plus I can't zoom! Not allowed! Blocked! Safeguarding and all that Kev...

Piggywaspushed · 18/05/2020 19:08

Lots of buses for us, too pink. and I think DS's old middle school had about 15 buses.

phlebasconsidered · 18/05/2020 19:10

Well now she knows doctors who disagree with the BMA. Naturally. Because they are a union, after all.
I honestly think she's a total fiction - a Hopkins clone in disguise.
Practically all of my medical friends think it's madness - I know a lot as I ended up living with meds at uni and postgraduate.

pinkrocker · 18/05/2020 19:10

Piggy I just watched it on my mobile!
Apparently there were over 16,000 people watching. Lots of questions asked and some good answers from K&M and the president (?) but for some reason there was also a random bloke sitting in, no idea who he was and he didn't talk.

lampshamp · 18/05/2020 19:11

There has been a small number of cases around the world of children with a potentially deadly inflammatory syndrome that has been linked to Covid-19. However experts have stressed it is rare, affecting only one in 1,000 children exposed to the virus.

This immune response. I know the antidementors will say I am scaremongering. However is it just me that thinks 1/1000 seems high. That's nearly one in each secondary school or am I over reacting?

Piggywaspushed · 18/05/2020 19:11

My mobile is so useless I suspect there is hamster inside there on a wheel...

I will look it up on Twitter. Sounds fun!

Was this during the school day then??

TheHoneyBadger · 18/05/2020 19:12

I bit instead phleb. When is she catching up with all these consultants during lockdown? Full of shit me thinks

Piggywaspushed · 18/05/2020 19:12

I doubt anyone in my school watched it,as they seem to have been in a union meeting at school.

Piggywaspushed · 18/05/2020 19:13

Ah, got you now Daffodil

The code is too much for me!

pinkrocker · 18/05/2020 19:14

@Piggy it was at 6pm

Piggywaspushed · 18/05/2020 19:14

I think it means 1/1000 children who get the virus. Not sure how that compares with other things.

Children don't take aspirin because of something don't they? I wonder what prevalence that has.

Scurries off to look it up.

Piggywaspushed · 18/05/2020 19:15

Oh pink I feel very out of the loop! I would normally know this! I didn't get an email I may have deleted it

CallmeAngelina · 18/05/2020 19:18

It was Daffodil who had her thread deleted for being goady-fuckery a couple of weeks ago.

RigaBalsam · 18/05/2020 19:20

I think the husband maybe an imaginary one.

Nobody would go on like that. They just wouldn't.
