You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

In the other staffroom, there is rhubarb & ginger gin, along with tea and coffee.

I’m more worried about trying to socially distance them tbh. I was supervising key workers children too and just felt like I was constantly nagging.

Saucery · 16/05/2020 16:00

Yep, me too. Regularly take groups for things, no problem. Having to apply those rules will be alien to the usual behaviour management, particularly as we have children who need to leave the classroom to destress and calm down. There will be nowhere for them to go now, without compromising the other ‘bubbles’.

NeurotrashWarrior · 16/05/2020 16:04

Ooooh backs...

Got the protected species post deleted, I'm sure many others reported it.

shampooabdtv · 16/05/2020 16:12

Gavin you don't care about the disadvantaged with your closure of sure starts and cutting social services anyone falling for this shit?

fuckweasel · 16/05/2020 16:17

'We owe it to the children'. GTF Gavin.

ineedaholidaynow · 16/05/2020 16:17

How much have they actually worked with the education sector?

TheHoneyBadger · 16/05/2020 16:17

Constantly nagging? Yeah that’s a pretty good description of my work and home life 😆

I sometimes rant at classes that I don’t want to spend my life nagging, that I would love a more pleasant atmosphere etc. About half get it and are frankly also fed up of their education being turned into being an imprisoned audience for some people’s hijacking of lessons. Moan moan!

I feel guilty that I’ve exposed we have sex offenders amongst our students on another thread but I really don’t think people get what we’re dealing with and how critical having enough staff and sticking to risk assessments and care plans is.

School has changed

starrynight19 · 16/05/2020 16:17

What an appalling speech. None of that was one bit personal. All read from a script.
All this fake care now when they have slashed budgets taking away fantastic support staff in schools who were making a difference to these children you now profess to ‘care’ about.
Even more furious 😡

Saucery · 16/05/2020 16:20

I don’t owe ‘the children’ my life or my long term health, so get to fuck, Gav.

skylarkdescending · 16/05/2020 16:22

Outrageous speech.

Divisive nonsense.

Totally unrealistic.

I'm so Angry I can only speak in two word sentences this afternoon apparently.

Appuskidu · 16/05/2020 16:24

The Torys never give a shit about vulnerable people normally, yet now-it’s all, ‘but think of the poor vulnerable childrenSad’.

I can’t even bring myself to listen to bloody Gavlar. Will they have handpicked questions?

Like

Gavlar, can you answer my prayers and tell my the poor children will be back at their desks soon?

Gavlar, please tell us how wonderful and proper and real and true your science is?

Gavlar, what’s your view on the lovely children’s commissioner who is only thinking of the vulnerable children?

Gavlar, do you think the mean nasty Marxist unions should just go away and let the poor children get back to school?

RigaBalsam · 16/05/2020 16:25

What an absolute load of nonsense. I hope people aren't falling for this.

He is acting like we have said schools should never open agin! Ffs

ineedaholidaynow · 16/05/2020 16:27

He's trying to sound really caring without answering the questions

Cantaloupeisland · 16/05/2020 16:27

Shouting at the telly. Prick!

RigaBalsam · 16/05/2020 16:28

Harries is as bad ugh

gaynormcs · 16/05/2020 16:29

Total guilt trip

ineedaholidaynow · 16/05/2020 16:29

Glad someone has asked about governors as I am one

TheHoneyBadger · 16/05/2020 16:30

I don’t know why you put yourselves through it. I read the summaries

Cantaloupeisland · 16/05/2020 16:33

Well that's in then, he's pretty much saying we're doing this whether people like it or not. Don't think the unions will be able to fight it 😔

TheHoneyBadger · 16/05/2020 16:41

The unions can’t fight it alone! People are going to have to stand up and say no I don’t believe my working environment has been proven to be safe and UK employment law advises I can stay away until it’s safe. Not singling out you cantaloupe but maybe it’s teachers or the working classes who have become toothless rather than unions.

They’re only as strong as their members resolve

ineedaholidaynow · 16/05/2020 16:41

How can he say that they have looked at places like Denmark to see what they are doing about class sizes when the suggested class size for our schools is double that of Denmark?

starrynight19 · 16/05/2020 16:41

I really like Jenny Harris but she just said children rushing past each other is not much of a risk but sitting face to face close together is more of a risk.
What on earth does she think happens in early years Sad

ineedaholidaynow · 16/05/2020 16:43

Certainly sounded as if we she was suggesting separate desks for early years

RigaBalsam · 16/05/2020 16:51

I really like Jenny Harris but she just said

I don't I don't trust her on the mass gatherings thing. I am not convinced.

BertNErnie · 16/05/2020 16:52

This briefing is absolutely ridiculous
